Picked up 2 sets for motorcycle camping trips. Small pack makes it worth it.

Yeah, with mummy bags, you need a right and left hand zippers. The photo shows two rights. Someone's gonna sleep with a hood over their face.

eno45 wrote:For all those asking about how warm they are. Keep in mind that everyone sleeps at different warmth requirements. Lots of stuff impact how warm you sleep. How fat you are, if you sleep with little on,if you recently ate something, inside or outside a tent, etc , etc.

If you are a warm sleeper pretty much assume you can stay comfortable in the lower range of the recommended temp spec. And if you are a cold sleeper like most women or real thin guys then you would want to only use this bag at the upper temp specs given.

Most bags are ment to be used with long sleeve tshirt and light long pant. Not only is this more comfortable , it wicks away sweat and keeps your bag fresher.

Last a cheap bag liner adds a few degrees of warmth plus is easy to wash. I purposely purchased a rated 45degree bag for my 3 season bag since I am a warm sleeper, will be in a tent, have a coolmax liner and will have long sleeve and pant. So far in the 30's I have been more then snug.

Hope this helps someone.

This is exactly right. I live in Colorado and I go camping with a 45-degree rated bag all the time. If I didn't already have as many sleeping bags as I need, I'd buy these in a heartbeat.

I keep reading posts regarding how warm (or lack of) these bags are. The first feature listed says for "light summer-time activities". I don't get why people are trying to compare these to a real winter bag? This is for summer-time use, i.e. warmer weather, as the manufacturer states.

I'm in. First woot. However, I'm a little concerned no one asked me the color I wanted. Looks like I got black and olive.

I think the one that costs twice as much is WAY better.

wanpakumono wrote:Can these be zipped together for those of us who are a bit "fuller-figured?"

Judging by the picture both zippers are on the same side so they can be zipped together but the bottom side of one of the sleeping bags will then be on the top partially covering your face.

WOOT!

Meh, 20 degrees isn't that low. If you go camping in the fall or in colder weather you want at least -10 degrees. Not too bad for the summer though.

My thoughts exactly, except I'm buying 'em for folks who don't have camping stuff when I'm out with friends at Assateague. Not bad.

I'd spend more for booze at a half-price happy hour.

wootleey wrote:Two sleeping bags for $20? Thats a great deal! Even cheap-o bags cost like $50 usually. I would be in for two if I really needed them, but alas I do not at the moment.

Well, I don't know where you shop, but I regularly see the "cheapo" sleeping bags on sale for under $20. I picked up six last year (to replace six that were ruined in a flood, not because of the durability) for prices between $11 and $18.

As others have commented, the price is very tempting. Given the packed dimensions (12"x7"), you can be sure that these are far lighter (in weight and insulating capacity) than some kids' slumber party bags (like the ones with Dora the Explorer or Bob the Builder emblazoned on them). For summertime camping (neither at high altitude nor at high latitudes), these should be fine. I wouldn't risk myself in these if I expected the temps to be well below 50 F at night, however.

Seriously all - this is a joke. You ever heard, "you get what you pay for?"

Go check out www.steepandcheap.com or any of the other sites for real camping gear... unless you think camping is in the back of a truck.

Total rubbish? I don't think so. These are perfect for the kids, for the kid's friends when they want to crash on the couch, etc.

They're not for hard core Everest style expeditions. It's hard to find a 6' 8" extra sleeping bag for < $30. These will do.

I would say not. At least one would have to be over-sized. If you are going somewhere "super duper cold", don't scrimp. Spend the money and get a really good bag.

DO NOT TRUST "temperature ratings"!!! They are arbitrary numbers by the manufacturer. I would NOT use this sleeping bag under 40 degress Farenheit.

Get serious! These are NOT "camping" bags. As stated these are for summer time use. And yes, you use them in a camper (pop-up or otherwise). If you are a camper you don't buy these. If you are a sometime "backyard" (again pop-up camper), and you want to bond with your young kids (5-7 years) then this is just fine. Don't over analyze!

Plus, for all you blanketeers out there, these will pack up smaller (6" x 11") than ANY blanket ever could.

Everybody has been saying about these being 'mummy' bags. Want to know if these open up fully or do they open only half way through.

I'm surprised the temperature rating isn't given in Centigrade.

Why couldn't they do the conversion into non-metric numbers for us? It's tooooo hard to figure out what any of those numbers mean.

If you do any serious winter distance driving, particularly over the mountains, these could be a lifesaver. Keep a couple of these in the trunk/back of your vehicle, and if you get stuck or stopped because of the weather, these will keep you warm enough (in the car) to get by until the roads open up or you get help.
