I have a 27" flat CRT TV, and a 47" plasma, and when I put them side by side, the 27" blows away the 47" while watching "I survived a Japenese Game Show" IMHO. The disgustingly large pores on the host's face or not visible, and the women look a lot better smaller.

jshbckr wrote:The 120hz feature is the most disgusting thing I've seen in TV technology. Basically, it takes the 24-frame rate of the movie you're watching and it makes up the extra frames in between to digitally remove the motion blurring. So basically, it makes film look like video. If you appreciate film, do yourself and favor and SHUT OFF THIS FEATURE.

The ONLY time this would ever be acceptable is if you're watching sports and want all the motion detail possible.

I can't believe this feature is enable on all of the demo Blu-Ray movies at Best Buy. It makes them look absolutely horrendous.

Well... just so you know. 120hz is NOT meant for movies, film, videos ect. It is ment for live action TV so it looks for fluid. Its a novelty. WIth this TV you can set it up so that 120 is only on TV and when you watch movies it is standard..

$200 difference, eh? Can I have that spare $100 or so that you're leaving out?

LCD v Plasma - Who cares? the way technology runs in 5 years a new [insert: gaming console, media format, TV service, etc here] will be out and you're going to need a new TV anyways.

And with either technology you have the chance of getting a dud (dies in a year) or a stud (could survive nuclear winter) regardless of brand.

In for 3!!!!

My only problem is/was that I cannot get my computer to display on the television without it flickering every 10-15 seconds. I was using my DVI out port of the computer to the HDMI input #3 as the manual suggested. The paper manual says to go into some menu option that does not exist on the tv menus, also. My tv arrived with a technician note attached stating it was upgraded to the latest firmware, so I suspect that might have had something to do with the missing option to select.
Otherwise I am VERY happy with the tv, colors are great, images crisp and sound was surprising (before I had it home I was considering a home theater system but this can be turned up and it mimics a theater sound in my room)

Try changing the resolution on your pc. I had the same problem with a philips tv myself, and changing the resolution on the pc fixed it.

Bought this model directly from Philip's refurb warehouse back before Xmas for $999 with free shipping. Great TV. Big, great picture, sound is adequate, but I added one of those Boston Acoustics sound bars Woot has every other week and now the sounds is equally as awesome as the picture.

In researching this purchase, it was obvious that there was a big problem with an earlier firmware for this TV where it would turn on/off spontaneously. I suspect the bulk of these refurb models had that issue and have just had a firmware upgrade to fix. Point being there was probably never any problem with the panel or the electronics.

Something tells me you're not a math teacher...

$1,497.00 - $1,199.99 = $297.01

Don't forget to factor in sales taxes (in most states) that you save by buying through Woot. In Southern California, buying a TV at $1,497.00 would end up costing me $1642.96 after sales tax.

If warranty is your concern, check out square trade, I got the woot on the 47" version of this TV back in January I think it was. I'm very happy with it, and I saved a great deal on the warranty and TV due to them being online purchases.

I bought a two year Square Trade warranty for about $150 when I got the TV. It's been at least 6 months with perfect operation, and I'm hoping I never need to use the warranty. But if I do, I'm confident Square Trade will treat me right.

They ship it through a company that will call you to arrange for delivery. It took about a week and a half to arrive in Southern California if I remember correctly. I believe that the actual delivery people are independent contractors. On a previous Philips Woot TV, I was able to get them to bring it on my schedule and carry it upstairs, but your mileage may vary.

And speaking of SANSA's...

If you bought one from WOOT you received an email about accessories for 99 cents each plus $5 shipping. If I understand the email correctly I can order 1 -- or all 4 accessories -- and pay ONE shipping charge of $5. However -- embarrassing as this is to admit -- I can't figure out what I'm supposed to click on to purchase the 4 accessories at one time.

Beware of Panasonic plasmas... I own one and they typically break down about 3 months after the warranty expires. I was lucky I bought the ext warr thru the store. If I hadn't I would've been royally screwed.

Just because yours broke down doesnt mean anything about the brand as a whole. Most reviews online will show that Panasonic plasmas have a great track record.
