And that's just MY 2 cents.

Long enough so that when it arrives you'll be as excited as you were when you bought it because you waited so long you forgot it was coming. It says 5 business days to leave the warehouse, but I'd expect like 8 business days, then another 8 for shipping.

You noticed a problem starting at 2 months (under warranty), but put off contacting them until the warranty was no longer valid, so it is their fault?

Dude, can you NOT READ?

The problem started at TWO MONTHS!!!!

The warranty was THIRTY DAYS!!!!

Math was not your best subject was it?

THIRTY DAY warranty...I say again THIRTY DAYS - that's ONE MONTH!!!!

My argument was that the TV SHOULD have been expected to last at least two months, and that w00t should he more reasonable...well they weren't.

If you still don't get the problem here, ask a friend to explain it to you before you post another moronic post ok?

What's the general experience with Square Trade, anyway? Surely some wooters know first-hand. I can't imagine that they can fix all the junk they underwrite, so I'm guessing if you need to resort to them, you generally get your purchase price.

Is this about right?

That's hilarious. Really. I'm still laughing! But seriously, I'm planning to hook my guitar up to it and want to know if it has automatic attenuation and, if so, is it a limiter or a compressor circuit doing the attenuating? Also, assuming I a m using a 6' shielded cable, unbalanced, and using active pickups @89 db/watt with a peak voltage of 2.6V per ohm, will the ratio of pixels to lumens affect my ability so see the sounds I'm playing at 720p? My current 15" 1080p Mitsubishi won't even display my guitar's input which is why I want to swap it out for this one. I've read the manuals which are obviously edited for consumers since there's no mention of any of these specs in them.

Or get the super cheap squaretrade warranty for something you spend a decent penny on. If you get a great deal on a refurb TV here for $500, the squaretrade is going to be like $50 for a year.

wootmeharder wrote:OK two problems with your post...well one really, you are just wrong.

First of all, I stated earlier that they are routinely available at Best Buy for $299, but not ALL the time. The last time I saw it was on the back of the sale paper I got in the mail about 2 weeks ago. I see this deal about once or twice a month.

Next, I DID contact W00T IMMEDIATELY when I started having problems with my TV. The TV was 2 months old AT THE TIME OF THE ONSET of the problem, and I contacted them THE NEXT DAY! Since the warranty on the refurb I purchased was 30 DAYS, they, in a very corporate, form letter kind of way, basically told me tough Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966).

I now get all my expensive electronics from costco, double the warranty for free and NO PROBLEMS with returns.

All I was doing was trying to inform others of the problems I had with a very similar item I purchased from W00T, isn't that what a FORUM is for? Yes any LCD TV can experience this problem (banding) but when it happens to me now, costco will take care of me when W00T blew me off.

But please, I really want YOU to buy 3 of these right away.

Thirty days is thirty days. You gambled to save a few bucks, you lost. Not Woot"s fault unless they misrepresented the warranty, which they didn't.Deal with it.
Personally I'd never buy something like this with a 30 day warranty. At least now you are doing it right(costco).

i worked as a manager at a rex tv for about 4 years and on this question the answer is no. on a screen of this size you will see no difference and most manufacturers dont even produce a 1080p model 32. if you were to go looking for a 1080p model 32 you would just be throwing a couple bills out the window.

Hmmm. Tempting. I don't have enough room for a 1080P TV, so this might be about right. No way would I use it as a monitor for a PC though. 1360x768...Really? That's the best it can do? That's gonna look hideous on a desk 2 feet away., but 720P from about 6 or so feet away sitting on a couch would be great for watching movies.

On second thought this price is only going to get cheaper. Probably pick one up locally after christmas. Sorry Woot. came close on this one though.

720P or 1080(i/p)... that argument is super old and is like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin

Reality is, for the most part, the newer 720P TVs look just fine, especially in a smaller screen size. Its more about when the panel was manufactured, and how good the electronics are that drive them. 720p is a huge amount of info being displayed on a pretty small (32") screen.

There is really NO SUCH THING as real 1080p content. Not now, probably not for a long time if ever..... Blue Ray/HDDVD is NOT 1080p content. It is transferred from film and some look good, and others look only ok. The transcoding to digital is done from the telecine, and some look great regardless of display resolution density, while others look like scaffolding.

XBox is 720p, Wii is 480p, etc. Who really cares what the TV is. Either the source OR the TV handles the conversion. And I doubt this TV has high end conversion components.

A lousy TV looks lousy, and a good one looks good, regardless of resolution. Plus, you have to set it up correctly.

I'm sure this TV is totally fine for as long as it lasts (who knows how long that could be anyway).

EltonNoway wrote:Plasma's traditionally give better blacks (although LCD's are fast closing the gap).

Both LCD or Plazma will look great with Blu-Ray.

The deciding factor between LCD or Plasma... has to do with your viewing habits. If the majority of your TV viewing is in a brightly lit room via windows and sunlight or artificial lighting then you should get LCD. If you watch the majority of your TV in a darken room or in the evening after dark then you should get a Plasma.

While I agree with that. I own a Plasma and it is in our kitchen/living room where windows let light in by the bagillions, and I can still enjoy it from a distance. Light is a small factor but indeed plasma looks better, but lcd are kind of cripser per se.
