I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

I have one of those Timex clock radio's for the Sansa e260, will this one fit it? I need an extra mp3 player for the car.

Does anyone know what file formats these will play?

I have various formats that play on my Zune, but am not sure that these will play them. I doubt they will play .wma lossless, but will they play .wma at all?

Personally I am holding out for a Zune HD

Do these support bookmarking for large audiobook files? I know the Sansa Clip does.

Anyone have experience with the voice recorder function? Is there a built in mic, or do you need to supply an external one?

I got one of 8gb last Christmas from Amazon, it just did not work when I got it and they were out of stock so I had to return it. I got Zune since and a Sansa clip few month ago, I like the clip a lot.

The radio reception on these is not what you would get from a portable stereo, or even a Walkman. More static. They are quite easy to sync tho.

These are some pretty good players! I have an 8GB version and I absolutely love it. Far better deal than certain famous alternatives, especially with the microSDHC expandability. Video mostly leaps into the vacuum but is quite adequate with cartoons (such as The Venture Bros.)

As for those wondering about Rockbox, no, not yet, at least no stable offical version has been released. Rockbox has been in the works for awhile, at the slow rate it's been worked on it still might be quite a few more months.

It should also be noted that this plays OGG and FLAC and has folder navigation after firmware updates.

Does anyone know if the iTunes to clip script would work with the fuze?

seems like this should be "new" for this price (4gb=cheap). Just my opinion

I'm not saying these are bad, but I'll stick with the iTouch and the iPhone. I <3 them both.

Is the USB connection standard as in the clip or proprietary as in all the sansa players? I'll get it if it uses a regular connection. Otherwise it's a hassle.

You don't need a mic, but the built in mic only catches sounds that are within about 5 feet of the device.

On mine, some stations are loud and clear on mine while others are very staticy. I noticed that it's very susceptible to interference while listening on my bed--I could move the player around near the walls which would greatly distort the sound from the FM radio.

32GB is the upper limit for SDHC devices. I've read where people are using 16GB cards in these with no problems.

EDIT - Clarification: Technically an SDHC device can be as large as 2TB, but the official size limitation (as per the Secure Digital Association) is 32GB. This is due to these devices using FAT32, which tops out at 32GB. Well...sort of. On Windows, you can format FAT32 partitions to larger sizes than 32GB with third-party applications, but there's no telling whether this device could support greater than 32GB until 64GB microSDHC cards hit the market. The cluster sizes start getting rather large in these large drive sizes; unless the manufacturer coded the OS to support them, it isn't going to work.

I stayed up for this?!?

What am I missing about Rockbox? I loaded in on a Sansa E280 and thought it was cumbersome. I invested a couple of hours reading the user manual, but it still didn't seem worth the effort. I finally just deleted it. The only thing I miss is that Rockbox allows for a MicroSD card for greater than the 2GB that the E280 firmware tops out at.

really? My 4 gb player has 1,250 songs on it. I guess all your songs are over 8 minutes long and at 320kbps CBR?

edit: I just checked. it's actually 1,118 songs. my bad.

Gracias. I think I'm gonna have to go with Walruski though, and wait on that Zune HD. It's quite tempting.
