Does it really take 2 1/2 weeks to get this to Chicago? I ordered this item and according to Fed Ex I wont get it until Sept 9th. I could have dirven to Texas taken a weeks vacation in Dallas and had this item sooner. Does Woot ship via homeless drifter?

Maybe we're getting re-furbed refurbs because they had a big response to this deal Others received theirs already and may have returned them. I hope we're not waiting for those?

Sansa Fuze 4GB Media Player has completely shipped out. All tracking will be emailed this morning to members who purchased this item. If you would like to find your tracking information sooner, please click the following link and use your ORDER NUMBER as the reference number.

FEDEX TRACKING

Mine is taking longer than it should, i'd think. I ordered the M-Audio Fast Track USB (from sellout) on the 31st and it's set to arrive tomorrow. The mp3 player isn't supposed to arrive until the 8th.

They are being delivered two seperate ways, however. The M-Audio is being delivered FedEx and the mp3 is SmartPost.

I don't think I like this SmartPost way since it's taking twice as long and was ordered before!!

The Fuze was my first woot purchase.

Man, they were NOT screwing around with that snail-and-package logo for Smartpost!

My Fuze + charging kit shipped in the wee hours of Monday morning (Aug 31). The charging kit is slated for delivery next Wednesday (Sept. 9) but the Fuze won't be here until Friday (Sept. 11). And I live in New Mexico, practically next door to woot.

Not that I'm complaining; I firmly believe in "faster, better, cheaper; choose any two."

Update:

Ok, so those delivery dates FedEx gives are a complete fantasy. I got my Fuze charging kit today, instead of next Wednesday. Here's hoping my player arrives tomorrow. I got the 8 GB micro SDHC card I ordered from...ahem...another website, yesterday.

My friends Mp3 player all of a sudden went gray with lines what should she do? I told her to charge it but that didn't work.
And does anyone know what a RMA is?

All I got was an empty box, I thought it was strange that the shipping weight (.2 Lbs) was less than the cables I ordered from Sellout...

Well, even though FedEx said it would be here on the 8th, it came today.

Pretty cool little device. I updated the firmware to the current version (it was at 17). It's a v2 version, so no Rockboxing for me

I hope everybody else gets theirs early too.

sorry if somone already asked this but what is the point of programs such as rockbox. what difference does it have to the default player that is on the fuze?

There is no other program like Rockbox. Rockbox is a complete firmware alternative that gives you much more control of your player.

You can read up on it HERE. You can boot into the original firmware at any time with the only difference being that Rockbox causes the player to lose its ability to play DRM protected files. It won't be able to play protected music service files or Audiobooks. Small loss to me. I don't use them anyway.

The loss of DRM capability only applies to Rockbox port for the V1 Fuze and Clip AFAIK. The V2 Sansas also have a working port but like the one for the Fuze it's a test build not a full release.

Loving my new Fuze. I got a red and black. The red had 'refurb' on the back, no music. The black one had nothing on the back, and about 6 songs on it. Both were V1.xx

I only slightly regret on not getting the optional charger.

Hey Woot! Thank you, I got my two Sansa Fuze MP3 players (Red & Black) today on 9/4/09 instead of the predicted delivery date of 9/8/09.

So far, so good - both players worked on first startup out of the shipping box. One player was blank with no files and it did scare me at first with really bad, nonresponsive audio on the FM radio. (Red Fuze player.) I gamely re-plugged the audio jack in and was promptly rewarded with more audio than was comfortable and was simultaneously dismayed to realize I didn't know any of the audio controls!

Curiously enough, one Sansa was wrapped in a tabbed plastic acetate sheet and isn't even marked "refurb" though it does have some files in it. (Black Fuze player.) Nifty unexpected niceness as I was giving that one away to a friend. (I'll still tell him it was "refurb" though.)

I, too was distraught about the Sept. 9 ETA. However, mine showed up today. Unfortunately, it showed up with two sets of ear buds and no sets of USB cables. I just sent a message to service@woot.com, but they don't come to work till Monday (probably Tuesday, b/c of the holiday.) This was my first Woot. Anybody have any bright ideas?

Hey, I'm here! The guys who will tell me if we have a cable to send you are not... but I did get your email! I'll probably be able to send you one on Tuesday.

Cool. Thanks for the quick reply. I'll look forward to learning more next week. Meanwhile, the battery came at least partially charged, and the player appears totally functional.

I am a music lover who isn't keen on being tied to Apple so this is ideal!

I bought an 8 GB micro SDHC card online so this should be a 12 Gb player for $35...

I hope that I am not disappointed when it finally arrives!

I got my Sansa Fuze on Friday and it will not charge. When connected via USB, the battery icon only goes to 50%. Immediately when I disconnect, it goes to 0%.

I know Woot doesn't accept returns. Who do I contact to get a replacement?

I'm REALLY disappointed with buying refurb items. This is the 3rd refurb I've purchased from Woot that doesn't work (Seagate HardDrive, Siemans Bluetooth and now Sansa Fuze). Do they even check out these items - or do they just repackage them?

A friend and I each bought one of these, his works, mine freezes / locks up 2 seconds into any song (even the same track copied to both devices)... so looks like i'm heading to RMA-ville.

I can't find any way to return it to Sandisk on their site (i'm getting dizzy b/c their site keeps leading me around in a circle).. so am going to try to rma it through woot i suppose.

An update. Both of my devices are now working fine. Not sure if this was a fluke or maybe it'll help others.

To recap, i had 2 devices. One refusing to see subfolders and if i put files in the root it would freeze as soon as it started playing. Both devices successfully had taken the update to the latest firmware.

I had switched both devices to 'msc' usb mode in the settings options. In this mode i saw 5 '.sys' files in the root of the device, and all the empty folders for music... etc.

Just on a wild hunch i copied the .sys files from the working device, to the flakey device and this corrected all issues. Both are now working great.

You're not kidding! FedEx still thinks my Sansa hasn't been delivered. In reality, it's been here since September 3, the same day it was handed to USPS.

It's working fine so far. I got a black one (that seems to be the working model) and the only problem is a slight wonkyness with the headphone jack. The included earbuds' phono plug doesn't really fit in there right, but fortunately I wasn't planning on using those buds anyway.

My red Fuze has been working fine for 3 days now. It was delivered on the promised date.

The firmware is a big improvement over the firmware in my old Sansa e260. The look and feel of the flywheel are also big improvements.

Overall I'm very satisfied. Even if this thing lasts just a few months for under $40 bucks and knowing the risks of buying a refurb I'd say it's an excellent bargain.

Addendum:

If you have Sansa's auto-detect software that automatically monitors for updates to your player's firware running on your PC it will give you the option of downloading the User Guide in PDF format when you download the new firmware.

My system detected more recent firware for the Fuze. I downloaded it and it installed in the Fuze without a hitch.

Hi,

I have received the Sansa® Fuze MP3 player along with USB 2.0 Cable and Earphones. I didn't receive Quick Start Guide and Installer CD with User Manual that should come along with the player. Please advise.

I tried to keep the audio song both the folders Music and Playlists, but I could not play the song. I think,I should read manual before I start using it. Any soft copy of the manual?

Is it my imagination or do many of the posters here not get what it is they're buying when they buy something from Woot?

These are often refurbs, overstocks and sad little consumer orphans whose mommy and daddy dropped on a street corner.

You buy it. You accept the attendant risks and you don't complain about it...that includes the slow-boat-to-China shipping you get for $5 measly bucks regardless of the size or weight of the product.

In other words, READ THE TERMS OF SERVICE!!

Same day I had posted about not getting my mp3 player, it arrived!

It worked fine, until just now! I can't get it to charge properly on this computer with the USB charging device. It says it is, then it stops and i've still got 0 charge even though it says it's at 50%.

Hopefully, my other package of chargers gets here soon so that I am not disappointed in this purchase! I've still got hope!

Anybody know what can be done if by chance this continutes to not work?

Hi ya back!

The Sansa Fuse MP3 Player you've purchased DOES NOT come with a Quick Start Guide, or Installer CD with User Manual. The item you've purchased only comes with Sansa Fuze 4GB Media Player, Earbud Headphones, and USB Cable. Which is what you received. Item is fairly self-explanatory to use. You can visit the Sansa website to see if they have any soft copies, http://www.sansa.com/players/sansa_fuze. Feel free to contact Sansa for technical support.

Phew. Luckily I ordered the black one - it goes with everything, after all.

Rather than "slow boat from China," I think a better characterization of Smartpost is "chaotic, temporally flexible, alternate physics shipping."

Has anyone found a handy way to mount one of these in a car? Or manage the inevitable cable mess? I bought mine primarily to replace the 6-disc CD changer in my car's trunk, which has several shortcomings. I expect the Sansa itself will sit in a cup holder, but I'll be relying on a Phillips cassette adapter to feed tunes into my car sound system. Some kind of holster thingy mounted low on the console would probably work.

UPDATE: Finally got mine today, complete with USB interface/charging cable & earbuds.

UPDATE 2.0: Put in my 8 GB SDHC card, got it and the 4 GB internal storage just about full. Tried it in my car through the Philips cassette adapter; everything works so far! Now if only the Rockbox folks get that replacement firmware finished...

Ugh, I'm so pissed off. I ordered mine on the 31st and FedEx told me it would be here on the 5th. Around the 3rd or so, it changed to 8th :\ Not only that, but it STILL hasn't arrived, and it's already the 9th (and the mail was already delivered). My FedEx tracking says they gave it to USPS on September 4th.

I got mine today. Way too long a wait.

Now it appeared to work for 3-4 minutes then I went to charge it. Came back to it and could not get it to do a thing! Thought it was dead.

So I found the manual:
http://www.sansa.com/sites/default/files/downloads/FUZE_UM_0608_ENG.pdf

In turn I tried resetting it. Holding the power in the ON position for over 10 seconds. I finally got life back to it. So I think in my case at least that was the "dead" problem.

I hope that helps others! I got the wall and car charger at sellout woot. Very nice!

I got mine yesterday at snails pace as did everyone else.
I plugged it into my computer and was shocked to see that it wouldn't drag and drop files to the player. I was getting really fustrated and finally did some digging around and found the Sansa Media Converter which thank goodness works awesome.

If anyone else is having this problem, here's the software I use:

Other than that little snag, I LOVE IT! Couldn't be happier! Thanks Woot!
