Got mine today. Hooked it up - it's in permanent sleep mode. Called the refurb company (number is on the "limited warranty" sheet) and got a hold of someone quite quickly. As we chatted the damn thing actually finnaly woke-up but was in BIOS. We reset the thing and I was able to get going. Got everything set up, all my files and programs downloaded, email accounts set up.

Went to a volleyball game and came back to find it back in permanent sleep mode.

The guy did set up a work order for me, so I can call tomorrow and give them that # and get a return shipping label.

Wondering if it would be cheaper/easier to send it to my local computer guy to check out first?

Neither did mine. Invalid serial# for the free upgrade. Called the referb company and sat on hold for 20 minutes before I got smart and left a message. Hopefully they will get back to me before Christmas

After hearing about all the problems people are having, I feel rather lucky.

The PC is working correctly.

My S/N is eligible for the Win7 upgrade.

I DIDN'T GET A REMOTE.

Sorry to hear about the missing remote. We typically recommend getting in touch with the manufacturer first, but if they cannot or will not assist you, service@woot.com may have a solution for you. In the meantime, you could buy the heartrate monitor over at sellout.woot and track the health benefits of not having a remote. =P

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

No... i still haven't received mine either, But after reading the numerous problems people are having, I'm scared to open the box when it finally gets here.

I didn't realize we were supposed to get a remote, as I didn't receive one either. However, that is the least of my worries since the computer doesn't even work.

I'm glad I finally got a response back from woot today about the refund. I was not so pleased to hear that I have to pay to ship it back.

This whole "deal" seems to have been handled very poorly by both woot and the manufacturer. I've never had problems in the past but this may make me think twice about ordering anything from here again.

I'm surprised woot would make you pay to ship it back how much does that cost you like 25-30 bucks? So basically you got sent an enormous headache and in the hole for 30 bucks? That is a little embarrassing on woots behalf...

I haven't got mine either, it was shipped on the 17th from NY and is still sitting on a truck in NY. Why wasn't mine one of the ones shipped from TX since I live about 10 miles from Woot...and by the way I haven't received the remote either

Mine was delivered today, and don't fret people who see the posts about issues. Woot sold over 2700 of these computers and to be honest most of the people who will respond about this deal will be people with issues. I hope mine doesn't have any problems but I don't think this is an epidemic of faulty refurbs.

Mine was shipped on the 17th and I received it on the 19th. Plugged it in on the 20th and it fired right up. Installed needed apps and old data, no problem at all. Went to the Gateway website today and ordered Windows 7 upgrade, no issues and have my order number and confirmation email.

This went very smooth and the price can't be beat.

Thanks Woot!

There wasn't anything listed in the product description about a remote.

I received my order today, and no I didn't receive a remote.

I was, however, eligible for the Windows 7 free upgrade.

Now onto the computer. When I first started it up I got a error for a bad instillation called the number provided for the refurb company. After a 35 minute wait (!!!!) I talked to a very nice tech support guy who helped me reinstall from the partition dedicated to Windows Vista backup. After going through the install period the computer is now in working order and is updating as we speak.

All in all with the free Windows 7 upgrade this woot seems like quite the deal!

Got mine setup...no remote, but I did find an Office 97Pro CD in the DVD drive! Not good for much, though. Once I booted it, it took over a half-hour for initial installation (and probably about the same to uninstall the extra scaffolding from Gateway). 5.9 experience rating, if not for the graphics card @ 3.6. Lets see how this puppy plays Blu-ray!

Woot said they'd give you a refund?? Wonder why they haven't offered me that deal yet. I'm close enough that I can just drop it off at their place. Yeah, so far I've been on the phone a total of an hour and 25 minutes trying to get hold of Seneca. Wouldn't you know, they called this afternoon, when I was gone for a couple hours!

Got mine today it would seem I am one of the lucky one it works just fine no problems, the ram count is 4 just like it should be, the hard drive is 580 0pen with 30 of programing total of 620 instead of the listed 640 but hey I'll take it. What's this about a remote??? I don't remember a remote being listed on the description, it didn't come with one. was there supposed to be a remote? who do I talk to about that (if it was supposed to have one)? oh and does any one know how I can turn Norton 360 off completely so that it never even comes on? I use System Mechanic and have no need for Norton. thank you Woot for an amazing deal!!!

I feel for the people who have bad units, but I believe they are the exception, not the rule.

I was very nervous waiting for mine, hearing nothing but bad news(I am in CA and didn't get it until tonight, but I am fine with that wait for $5 shipping on a 30lb computer), but am glad to see people leaving positive feedback finally.

It fired up fine, set up was not too difficult, not thrilled about Vista, but my S/N qualified for the free upgrade to 7 so I hope that's better.

I did not recieve a remote, nor was I expecting to since it wasn't in the product description.

Good luck to those still waiting, post your positive experiences too so that others won't be as worried.

I received mine today and am really happy so far. The monitor I ordered hasn't arrived yet so I have it hooked up to the 50in Plasma right now and its running great. It reports 4GB of RAM and a 585GB Harddrive with 552GB available. I'm not too worried about the harddrive being a bit smaller because I have an external drive that I use for storage. The box looks slick and runs super quiet. I checked out the card reader and it works great, I haven't burned a DVD yet but hopefully it is fine as well. Also, I was also able to successfully order the free Windows 7 upgrade. I'm happy with my purchase so far...unless it explodes in the next few months!

Yeah I was also worried with all the complaints but like a previous poster noted, seems like the exception, not the rule. I used the link on page 10 of this thread to complete the Windows7 upgrade, everything went great. The system is very quiet, and runs WoW well enough for now, but could do with PSU and graphics card upgrade. Good luck everyone.

Mine works, but I can't use it since it seems to be locked down tight with security. I keep getting to the log on screen of the previous user where it asks for my password. It won't even boot into a safe mode. Both the Guest and Administrator accounts appear to be disabled.

I haven't tried calling Seneca Data because I dont want to send it back and possibly end up with something in even worse shape like some of you have described. At least my boat anchor has an easy fix. I didn't get a remote but when I receive my free Windows 7 disc, I hope to finally resolve this password issue. I just wish I knew if I am tossing out any useful software when I wipe the hard drive.

ok, so i finally put the thing together and started it up and installed all my programs. one of the program i installed was spybot. for kicks i performed a scan and turns out there's all sort of malware on it already, lovely. hit the fix it button and it tells me i'm not the administrator......WHAT THE FUDGE......

i only have one profile, myself when i was setting it up. how do i change my profile to admin status?

Attention everyone worried about hard drive size. The reason you see a smaller hard drive than listed is because Seneca creates a partition which has the backup files to Windows Vista.

My computer came with a bad install of Vista and Seneca Tech Support helped me to reinstall Vista through the partition. That's the reason for the issue. I would suggest anyone who has a problem logging in call Seneca and have them assist you in reinstalling Vista.

If you're really savvy I can try and relay how they had me to the re-install from the backup partition:

When the computer is on the gateway screen you press FN (The key with the blue FN letters) plus ALT and the F10 key. This will allow you to chose which device the computer boots up with. Choose the SATA Harddrive.

IMMEDIATELY once you press enter on the SATA Hard drive, hold down FN+ALT and start slamming on the F10 key. This should bring up a menu that gives you the option of reinstalling/repairing Vista. Everything from there is pressing ok. This wipes the C: drive and gives you a minty fresh Vista Install.

Good luck guys

Finally got mine to turn on, but it shuts down about every 10-20 minutes.

Sat on hold yesterday for 1.5hr, today for 45 minutes but finally got "Al" to answer the phone.

I'm returning the product to Revonate Mfg in NY, but you have to have an RMA number before you can return it.

You have to pay for shipping back to Revonate. I asked about what to do if the replacement doesn't work either, he said they will pay for the return shipping on the 2nd bad one if that's the case.

Wonder how long it's going to take to get the 2nd one.

But at least Revonate is in NY, which won't cost as much to ship to as Woot in TX.

For the person that said that these people are the exception, not the rule, I beg to differ.

I got mine yesterday, it booted up and started loading the Windows configuration. Walked away for a second and came back, the computer is off. After that point, the power supply would never even power on.

Contacted refurb company and have to send it back It was a 45 minute wait to speak to someone but they were nice. A bit dissapointed here.

They sold over 2300. Most people have theirs already and if they are working fine usually don't post anything. I feel bad for you and the handful of others that got bad units, but really it can't be more than a percent or two, and that would be an exception, not a rule.

Got mine today and the HDMI doesn't work. Since I am trying to use it with a tv, this is a big deal. I hooked it up to a monitor and it won't even run set-up, keeps giving me a windows installation error. So I am 0 for 2 in buying something from woot that actually works. Also, no remote - as if it matters.
