alexdreamz wrote:Yeah, I iz poor, too... but if I had money, I'd totally be buyin' this. We just moved into a new place and the whole ground level has wood floors - with a dog and a cat, you know how much hair accumulates? 12 hours and there's these little fur bunnies hiding around every corner, jumpin' out to bite your slippers and strangle your toes!

Oh, well... at least we get a 3 day woot-off... maybe somebody else can spend all THEIR money and then the 3 of us can sit around and tell each other lies about how much we bought.

Your going for quality post aren't you?

They sell on amazon/ebay for $20-30 new. You could easily sell the DirtDog for more than that.

Woot must be going out of business. That's the only way to explain a three day woot-off with this scaffolding.

So has anyone used these with dogs that shed a lot? I'm guessing the dirt bin would fill up too fast to make it worth it?

Will both of these use a recharge base? If not, how do they charge? How long does the battery life last, that is til you need a new battery?

For those "Do they work" people:

1) Yes, they sweep, mop or vacuum, depending on the model.

2) They don't do as good a job as YOU do.

3) But they'll work every day, so after a week, you generally have a cleaner house than you would if you did it yourself once a week.

4) Their batteries are notoriously flaky and expensive to replace.

5) You really want to buy one from a place that has a really good warranty policy -- like Hammacher Schlemmer. (Lifetime warranty. If it breaks, ever, they'll replace/refund -- cheerfully.)

This will make Roomba 4 and 5 for me. My wife and I really like these machines. The price is incredible. If people are having issues with the battery life, there are places online that can resolve that issue very cost effectively. These things work great for getting things done while doing something else. WE LOVE THEM!! Been waiting for another great WOOT like this!!

Final analysis- bought the Wowee Tribot a while back so's the kid could get a Robot for Christmas.... and figured my lovely bride could have robots of her own!

(probably special place in hell for me due to this purchase)

Frankly, these would probably do a better job of vacuuming than I do. On those days once or twice a year that I actually vacuum.

So yes, I could use a Roomba. On the other hand, I'm holding out for a netbook and can't afford both. And I don't think I have any use for a Dirt Dog.

Our Movie Genre. I (a wife myself) can not live without a roomba.. With 3 cats and 3 dogs... Roomba seems to hunt dust bunnies and hair balls with vigor..

Tsk tsk on the anti roomba wife..

One of the advantages of the dirt dog is that it has a much bigger bin. I have a golden retriever and it works great on our laminate floors.
