Everywhere in the description, it refers consistently to "iPod" and only in the humorous photo tag line at the top does it say "iPhone" so I have to wonder can I dock my iPhone in the device or will I be relegated to the "in" port for MP3 players and CD players? Thanks!

Does anyone know if this thing induces that horrible noise from the iPhone, or the hum from the halogen lamp at 60Hz?

Also, is the hinge joint at the base metal or plastic. I can't tell you how many of this style lamp I've had where the plastic hinge breaks off, leaving a pile of junk.

Do these lamps come with fire warnings? They don't look like they would control the hea very well with that shade.

This model at Amazon has the bad reviews. The surround sound model has better reviews, but costs $136.

I believe all halogen lamps come with fire warnings. I just want to know if this thing will work with my iPhone without having to switch to airplane mode.

FYI, that product isn't the one that's up on Woot. You're looking at an upgraded model.

MOST first gen devices: chargers, radio adapters, etc. iPwns 3G and 3Gs just pop up a warning and then refuse to cooperate. Damn Apple! :-(

Anyone know if the lamp housing can be pointed UP? I prefer uplighting, and it typically reduces the fire hazard by venting directly off the lamp, rather than through the poorly ventilated plastic fire-starter, I mean housing.

It does say on the description, that you can't have thir iphones. So I'm going to assume that they are compatible with the iphone.
