Yeah, and EACH Wal-Mart will have 4-5 of them, and they will be put out for sale at 4 am.... I am NOT going to wake up from my turkey coma to stand in line for the sale, and PRAY that I get one!

The D250s were with the 3-cell.

I wooted one of these a few weeks back. I love it. It's a very capable little machine, runs Windows 7 beautifully, upgrades to 2GB of RAM very easily, is light, portable, the battery's easily changed (or detached if running on AC), and it's entirely capable of things like streaming flash video.

Also, be aware that the specs Woot lists may not match what you actually get. Mine came with the slightly faster 1.66 ghz Atom N280 CPU and 667 mhz RAM.

Cherrypicker wrote:OK, this is the GOOD ONE! Has the 6 cell battery (good for 6 hours - really!) and the 160 GB HD. Can upgrade to 2GB RAM for just a few bucks, and easy to insert with a single screw cover removal. I bought one a few months ago and IT IS GREAT!

This is a REAL VALUE. Go for it!

Bought one of these (red) last time they were up. Even with 1 GB RAM and Win XP, zipped right along, but i upgraded to Win 7 Pro and added an extra GB of RAM. This thing now boots in <30 seconds (really!!) and that battery does run for about 6 hours. Keyboard is NOT AS BAD as you might think. I love this little machine that I didn't even really need. If you are on the fence...jump off!!

bought one of these from woot recently, cannot be happier. these netbooks really have longer battery life(6.5 hours) and I recently installed windows 7 on these and it runs great. this netbook is small enough to take it everytwhere, and you can even buy travel adapter charger to take it in your car. takes about 2 hours to charge fully, and lasts about 7 hours with windows 7. i watch netflix with windows media center running on this one, and have not seen any skipping frames even with 1 gig ram.

Do it again and they will cancel.*

Or you will have twice as many. Either way, that little bar will get just a leeetle bit shorter.

a few notes on the capabilities of this machine:

people have claimed it will play 720p video (www.aspireoneuser.com)

it will boot from the SD card slot (unlike previous aspire one models) which is useful if you want to install linux on an sd and keep windows on the hdd.

it uses a full-size mini pci-e wifi card (easily replacable) and the ram is upgradable to 2gb.

I must be crazy, because I am seriously contemplating getting one to go with the red Aspire One D150 (w/6-cell) I bought about a month ago.

  • Check that - just bought one in blue.

That Said, I am glad to see these come up again. My red Aspire One has been a real joy from day one.

Important point: the lack of free Win 7 upgrade eligibility is not such a big deal. I tried loading the Win 7 32-bit RC on my Aspire One D150. It's usable, but kinda clunky, probably due to the limited RAM and modest processor. I don't feel like spending the $ to put in 2 GB RAM. So Win 7 isn't all that suited to this platform anyway, though it will work. I can do everything I need under Kuki Linux or Ubuntu Netbook Remix, which seem to run faster.

Manos: The Hands of Fate? Good lord. I haven't seen that atrocity of a film in years.

In any case, there were better netbooks being sold yesterday through woot for less. This isn't really worth it to me. Silly woot- today is payday. I would have bought one of the netbooks from yesterday, but oh-no, you couldn't sell it then :/

ircmaxell wrote:Which is why I like ASUS better... One of the 10" models has around 11 hours of battery life...

Yeah, but when I got it last February, I had fewer choices. It even came loaded with Linux, so I had to make some modifications. It has plenty of battery life for my own needs because it usually just gets used when I travel.

The whole "fitting in my purse" thing is the big attraction.

BTW...folks, I'd avoid the white ones. They look dirty almost from the first day.

I should also note that complaints about the keyboard size strike me as odd. I've compared the keyboard directly to others I have for desktop machines and the majority of the keyboard is almost identical in size - only a few function keys and the like have been squished down to fit. (And you have to use a modifier key to use things like the numpad, but that's laptops for you.)
