Then maybe your guests can do some of the work!

That could be fun, but probably not. My high school bestest friend is engaged to one of my college friends, and a couple other college friends want to see them while they are in this part of the state, and I happen to live in the middle, plus my Mom gave my bestest friend a bunch of stuff to bring up to me and the kids.

Could you maybe explain the circumstances and tell them your house is their house, but if they want to eat, to bring it?

LOL, actually one of them used to work for my boss in college, so she knows where my office is and I told her just to come by and grab my house key.

All four people are called Aunt/Uncle by my kids. It's really not a big deal other than Orc will now be making dinner for 4 more instead of just 2 more like we planned before he went to the store AND the twins will probably stay the night since they are 2 hours away and don't like driving at night that much, my engaged friends will probably go back to her Mom's house (45 mins away).

Morning all.

Cruzer - I think I'm done shopping. I know there are a lot of people that aren't getting much more than a smile and a pat on the back this year though. I just have to wrap some things (not much actually).

I'm at work, still no snow. I work through Wednesday, but the kids' classes are both having parent invited Christmas parties at different times, so I probably won't work too much on Wednesday, plus I've got friends coming into town.

Chose wisely, your setting not only a precident for your gift giving ability as a couple, but also need to find something she likes. It's really hard for me to shop for Orc, we have so many common interests I feel like I'm getting something for myself most of the time. Of course with the baby coming this is another no gift year.

Gift cards aren't too hard, lotto tickets are good, I always loved when the grandparents gave us lotto tickets, not that we ever won much. . . . the X-box thing, that sounds a bit vague.

I just need to get the candy & small stuff for the grab-bag for niece & nephew, order the Southern Living cookbook for Dad and get one gift certificate for Dad's girlfriend.

The grab-bags are just a gift bag with candy and silly cheap stuff in them, piled full. All from Wal-Mart.

We made our run for "stocking items" over the weekend. Mostly hair things since the girls seem to never have any and always want some. We don't do candy at our house really, although the kids did make candy dishes at the building supply store (out of flower pots) so if Orc can find some single candy canes he'll get them one.

I don't do a lot of candy - just a little. I give big packs of sugar free gum too (they are old enough for it).

My kids constantly get candy from different places, but I just don't get when they are supposed to eat it? It seems like we are always right before a period of sleep or a meal or it's just too early in the day. I guess if they didn't nap so late they could have some in the afternoon and we have done that, but it's like a once in forever thing. Orc mostly takes the candy to work and gives it away.
