They sound great and block out most noise. But they are VERY fragile. Mine broke at the cord with light use for about 3 months.

I have never used these before. But for that price 'skull candies' are a SURE thing.

I bought these last time woot offered them. They were like 17.99 then. VERY good headphones, I love these things. For the price you absolutely cannot beat it. Skateboard with them all the time and they don't fall out. I definitely recommend them.

I got these last time they were on Woot. Very good for the price. Make sure you find the right size end piece to go in your ear. Don't just assume the default one is the correct one.

He's not lying, this is a must for these headphones. When i got them i actually read the instructions and they told me to burn them in. Well i wasn't patient and listened to them anyway. The highs were almost muddy and i almost tossed them in the garbage. But, i hung on to them and let them play all night that night and the next morning they were 300% better sound and are the best sounding headphones i've heard aside from my several hundred dollar studio headphones.

I bought these a while back for a trip. They lasted only a couple of hours before changed in air pressure within my ears (yawning, for example), caused one of the earbuds to cut off entirely. Much pushing later, I managed to get it working for a few minutes. And so the flight continued. Never again.

I've experienced a slight charge and an electric buzzing when I have these plugged into my computer at work. Both go away when I start playing music through them though, so it's not just your laptop.

dogsurfer wrote:I bought these here. Comfortable, durable, fine quality. However I can feel an mild but annoying electric charge when I plug them into my laptop. Perhaps the laptop headphone jack isn't well grounded, and the metal conductive ear buds contribute to it. Other non-metal ear buds don't do this on my laptop, and these ear buds in low-powered devices don't do this. Does anyone else have the same issue?

I bought three of these a few months ago.

they are al broken now - with minimal use really.

the lifetime warranty is a must I guess.
I need to find my paperwork to send these in for replacments.

You can probably get away with printing the receipt from your Woot account. Or even the email that confirmed your order.

I'm surprised by the failure rate. I abuse my Maximos quite a bit. I even sleep with them on, and I toss and turn a lot when I sleep. WHo knows what actually happens to the wires as I turn my head, and crush the buds between my ear and the pillow. I'm sure the wires get stretched and knotted. But they're over a year old and still performing admirably.

These are great earphones for the price. I have expensive Shure buds and are of course better sounding - but not by much. I have two pair of these Maximos and just bought my third. Can't have too many around at this price!

I have a pair of these and will give them away to anyone wanting to pay shipping. I can't keep them in my ears and the sound quality is not that great.

Junk! Avoid!

I bought two pairs last time. Both went dead within a week. First, one ear would stop working and then the other would stop working shortly after. These were for my girlfriend and I and we're both adults, treated the cords with care, and didn't put any undue stress on them.

I contacted Maximo for a warranty replacement and never heard back.

i bought 2 pair of these about a year ago, one set for my zune the other for my wife's ipod and i think they're much better than the zune buds (totally subjective opinion).

i've gone through a bunch of low to mid range ear buds through the years and so far these have been my favorites. the sound is excellent and i really like the click clack of the metal when you tap them together.

my wife uses them during her workouts and once she found the right size they quickly became her favorites as well.

I too got these from Woot in the past. They are heavy and were not that comfortable for me. Sound was just OK. Gave them too my kids and they used them for a month and the exact same thing as many have already said.... one side dies and then they just stop working. The case was nicer last time and the jack was not soft rubber.
I had luck with the in-ear razors in the past from Woot. I see others did not. Oh well.

Instead of wrapping the cords around your iPod (or whatever), use an empty cassette case. If you don't have one, it's worth buying a blank audio tape from your local drugstore--Target still stocks them too.

You put the buds on the inside of the case, close the case on the cord, wrap cord around case. Every time I've done this, the plug--and its too fragile connection to the wire--gets tucked behind the wrapped cord, neatly/straightly/securely against the case.

This is the ONLY way my present pair has lived as long as it has from gym bag, to laptop bag, to carry-on, etc.

I bought these headphones the first time they came around on Woot. For the first couple months they worked fine, then the 1st pair went out. Then i got the replacements they were DOA. Then i got yet another pair and fortunately these have kept kicking. The sound quality and the bass is awesome for such tiny earbuds. If you can get a good pair by luck of the draw they are awesome. It just may take a few times.

Got these in one of the previous Woots. Annoying break-in period of crackly noises, then very good sound and mechanical noise isolation. More importantly, they have survived my abuse of stuffing them in pockets, briefcases, etc. I usually go through earphones quickly, but these are apparently made to last a bit better than most. Happy wooting.

I bought these the last time. The earbuds have a metal seam on each one. They both came apart in the middle and I had to superglue them back together. But they still work fine.

I commute to work on the NYC subway and used to crank my MS Zune earbuds all the way up to maximum just to hear above the external noise. With these I can set them at a much lower decibel level, no noise and much healthier for my hearing. These are great.

have had these for about 1.5 years now, and love them! Sound is great, ear buds are super comfy (and I am VERY picky, my ears are super sensitive to ear buds)and I am able to wear these pretty much non-stop for 5 hour trips...they seem pretty durable, between my kids and I, we have yanked and curled them up a pretty good bit, but no shorts or tears or anything so far...would be in for another pair but will have to wait until new year and new $$ from new job :-)....I recommend these!!

andrewlb wrote:I would confidently say that these are worth buying. Over my lifetime I have owned many different earbuds, including prepackaged ipod buds and bose 100$ earbuds. While they don't compare to to the base of bose, they aren't terrible in the least and are a) more comfortable than the cheap pair of earbuds you may be using and b)will sound better as well. At this price it is totally worth getting a pair. Also the Maximo lifetime warranty is a huge bonus, recently my pair shorted out (I always wrapped the cord around my ipod and eventually screwed up the inner wiring; lesson learned) and I shipped them with ease to Maximo and they gave me a new pair for free. Buy them!

If you're going to spend 100 on earbuds, better be Shure.

I bought these a few months ago from Woot and use them with my Zune. They seem to have issues either generating or not dispersing static charges and it causes my Zune to reset all the time.

Very comfortable headphones though, I do like them.
