Bag arrived today (1 day early) and I'm going to attempt to do the impossible; wait until Christmas to open it. Box is 5.8 pounds and is definitely mostly empty, but I definitely sense that there are 8 or 10 factory sealed iPod Touches and a letter in there explaining that the remaining pallet of iPods would be arriving later.

Hmm, my first bag.

Zune 30gb (works)

Small camera case

2 Star Trek figures

Pink Panther DVD's

2 wallet size digital photo things

Sansa e260 4gb (busted)

120 gb hard drive (busted)

300 gb hard drive (busted)

Not worth all the time and effort at all... not even for bragging rights.

I don't think so...I've been a good Wooter (even bought stuff--real stuff--along the way). I guess it's karmic punishment of some sort. Disappointing, especially when compared with previous Brainless Old Curmudgeons. Historically, the Woot-Off just before the holidays has always yielded some good, if not interesting, finds. Unfortunately for me, this time around didn't live up to expectations. All is not lost, however, the two airplane models were promptly snatched up by my son--who thought they were great.

I am more pissed that 3 of the items were broken. The Zune is nice, and I can put a few of the things in one of the boxes for needy kids.

If the hard drives worked, I would find uses for them. But, now I need to find somewhere to recycle them in NYC.

I received my Boggy Old Creature today (well actually, I had to pick it up at the post office because they wouldn't leave it at my door). Anyway, here are the contents and pic:

1 x 8 GB Large and Fancy Sansa
3 x 4 GB Sansas
1 x 2 GB Sansa
1 x Blue Tooth Headset
1 x Star Wars Film Cell
1 x 250 GB Hard Drive
1 x 80 GB Hard Drive
2 x Star Trek Figures
1 x Camera Bag
1 x Set of "In-Ear" Ear buds

3 of the Sansas powered on, the other two likely need to be charged. Overall this is a great haul, thanks Woot!

Some people have found that giving them a full 8 hour charge overnight remedies the issue. Give that a shot first

From there, it all depends what's wrong with them. I'm sure there are a few guides out there for taking apart Sansas, Googling around should yield a few results.

Gratz by the way, great haul!

I'm in Durham.

My Brohemian Ocelot Carapace left Charlotte exactly 29 hours ago and hasn't been heard from since.

It's a 3 hour drive on I-85.

I'm concerned that my Biannual Oarfish Checkup was so awesome that SmartPost absconded with it.

Tom Petty was right, the waiting is the hardest part.

I arrived home tonite not expecting my Brigade of Carpathians, since it is scheduled for delivery on the 22nd. In the mailbox is Form 3849 "Sorry We Missed You!" card from the USPS requiring a signature! Total tease.

On the bright side, I now have the added hope that the signature requirement is to protect the extra crappy goodness from spies and international terrorists who might be driving around in my neighborhood looking for unprotected boxes with exclamations. It MUST be something awesome now, right?

Right?

Well, The MyFedex & the USPS sites said my Boggy Old Creature required a signature, but when I got home from my friend's mother's funeral, there it was on my front porch. Maybe it depends on whether or not your postperson thinks your scaffolding is endangered.

I found some info but it really depends on the problem. I have one with a loose chip in it that just needs some electrical tape and another with a "lock" switch that seems to not want to unlock too easily. I think i can fix that too. I would first google the problem and you will more than likely find something you can try that might fix it.

One thing I have learned from Woot is never pay good money for a Sansa. After seeing all these broken ones; I'm not sure they have made one that is still working.

I've had good luck with mine. I bought 4 of the 256MB unit (which we still use for the radio), a couple of the 512MB (one of which was purchased new at Best Buy), and a 1GB which I lost on a business trip after over a year's service, all of the older "stick" variety that have served me well. After a couple of years one of the 512MB started having problems with the control joystick but it had seen a lot of use and abuse. When I lost the 1GB I ordered a refurbished e250 which I put Rockbox on and it's seen pretty much constant use since last June with not a whisper of a problem. I have just about rejuvenated the 8GB View with the stuck wheel that I got in today's bag arrival and it's now working like a champ as far as I can tell. I have no problem with Sansa refurbs.

  • 1x leather iPhone holder
  • 2x 120GB IDE Western DIgital HDD (flashback from 2003) Untested
  • 1x 5 mega pixel Digital Camera with underwater case (still in original-yet opened- clam shell packaging... with bonus test pictures for the bloke who tried and didn't like the quality - I don't blame him)

  • 1x black 1GB Sansa Clip (refurb working with cable + earbuds)
  • 1x working refurb Sansa e250 (2GB) no cable
  • 1x very worn refurb Sansae260 (4GB). Doesn't turn on. Maybe only needs a charge. But I don't have a cable.

I'm happy enough with the content... but the joy of the confirmation message when my order got through, and anticipation while watching the fedxe tracking was worth way more than the content or the $8 I paid.

Thanks woot!

I know the feeling! That's not to say I don't want some sweet loot, but winning the F5 race was cool on its own.

Looks like you had a pretty good haul though. Never underestimate the use of a few extra low capacity MP3 players. Better to risk busting a Sansa while snowboarding than an iPod.

And hey, have you ever wanted to keep listening to music or a podcast when you went to take a shower or bath? If the whole "put the MP3 player in a Ziploc bag and run the headphone cord through it" thing doesn't work, you won't lose anything too valuable!

I agree with OP that getting stuff that's broken is just plain stupid. I'd rather get 3 bags of Texas air, then a bunch of electronics that's broken. At least I can use the bags of air.

He got a working 30GB Zune among other things, better than what most people get. The only things broken were his sansa and a couple of HDs, the HDs given out here rarely work, who cares about them anyway. It also doesn't say he tried to charge the sansa first, which has "fixed" quite a few "defective" ones already. I think he got a pretty good score for 8 bucks.... 30gig Zunes on ebay go for over 50 bucks if he wants to turn around and sell it...
