No, it wasn't supposed to go at $49.99 but our Pentium 1 66MHz server wouldn't allow us to set the price correctly before it launched. Everyone gets the $39.99 price, no one will be charged 449.99.

So you can guess what the dog did in the basement.

So while I was cleaning up the doggie scaffolding, i missed the bag!

Looks as if the servers were so tied up I wouldn't gotten through anyhow - Wootalyzer and Wooters.us failed to load the buy page.

Again, this is a drive with a 32mb cache, as opposed to the 16mb you linked. Although kudos for at least pointing out that it's similar rather than claiming it's identical, like most seem to.

Well, I got myself a new hard drive. My current one is about to die soon. It's a 4 year old Western Digi 200GB 5,400. I'll probably just use it as a backup until it does die..

Really! What's with all the newbies getting these when there are people who've been around since 2005 and haven't gotten one? Shouldn't they like, grandfather people in for one after a while?

Apparently someone took a big ol' baby of the cosmos, set it in front of Woot's web server and lit it on fire.

On the bright side, I stopped caring about the fact that it's a woot-off and got some sleep instead of watching for a bag. They've already binned you into what you'd get if you did manage to buy one anyway. And frankly I see no reason to waste my money knowing I really would just get scaffolding.

So you are saying that they should spend all that extra money to handle what is effectively a DDOS that happens only once in a blue moon? When they don't even really lose out, because they sold them all anyway, and were back up soon after to offer the next item?

Seems like a bad idea to me...
