How would I view 8-2 or 8-3? 1082 and 1083 doesn't work....or am I just out of luck?

Windows Media Center doesn't use the sub-channels by default. You need to go into Settings>TV>Guide>Edit Channels (or something like that, haven't used XP MCE in a while).

Then just put a checkmark next to the sub-stations that you get, make sure they don't have a lock next to them though.

So I finally got this pci 650 to work properly under 64-bit win7, after quite a few pitfalls.

A few things to look out for.

1) Obvious, but as I was uninstalling and reinstalling the 9-12_vista32-64_unified_wdm.exe drivers over and over- make sure to you set the .exe to vista sp2 compatibility mode before executing. There is a massive difference in what is installed/recognized in the ATI installer.

2) I for the life of my couldn't get my digital QAM channels to show up in WMC. WMC would always find analog, but never digital on the tv signal scan. - make sure the signal coming into your card is strong. I had to buy an amplifier, even tho the digital signal was clear throughout the entire house and my other tv sets.

To test this I removed all splitters on the line coming out of the wall, and hooked it directly up to my 650 digital input -skipping splitting it to the analog input. After a week of not finding the digital adapter or any channels in WMC I found 5... that wouldn't come in.

- a simple radio shack amplifier fixed this problem in strides. I wasn't expecting much but it bumped my 5 un-receivable channels to 36 perfectly clear channels.

Can you please elaborate on the differences of what is installed and not installed when using the Vista SP2 option when installing the drivers? My card is up and working, but it acts like a hybrid tuner not a dual tuner and no software was installed. I was expecting some kind of catalyst media center I could use in lieu of WMC since I don't like the .wtv format it records to.

thanks in advance!

edit: I am also using Win7 64 bit

I have one of each cards installed in windows 7 64bit systems. Wish I had bought two 600 cards. Splitting the signal on the 650 hurts signal level.

Both cards work good with Windows Media Center on Time Warner cable using the 7 drivers linked to earlier in this thread.(Analog on the 650 is a little snowy).

WMC has a habbit of not finding the clearQAM or identifing them properly.
Check out the web site http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/06/setting-up-custom-channel-lineups.html If has some good info on setting up missing channels and lots of other good WMC tips.

I recently purchased a diamond re:ATI TVwonder hd 650 Dual tuner card insofar as it being a dual tuner they are referring to ATSC digital and NTSC analog. Running windows 7 home premium with a Media Center remote and All is well.It did not come with the S-video composite adapter. After much searching I found that Compuvest has a short s-video and composite adapter for 89 cents.EVERYONE ELSE WANTED 12 to 15 bucks Also they have the (purple) ATI av adapter for 6.99 both of which work well on this card.
ATI still doesn't have Win 7 MC 32 bit drivers for the tuner I am using S video from DirectTV box with Audio from r+w connectors on the cheapo Adapter It works Well no need for expensive breakout box

Is it just me, or was there supposed to be a remote included? I got 2 of the PCI 650s and neither came with a remote. Is there anyone else that thought a remote was supposed to be included? What are others doing now? I don't want to spend a lot of money on a remote.

I personally had a remote from a previous woot, but it broke so I just got the cheapest one I could find from Wal-Mart...Granted it cost pretty much the same amount the card did (sans shipping), but every other one I could find was equally costly, if not much more.

Figured out the sub-channels...thanks.

Only thing for me right now is that the volume seems really low on some channels. I have the volume on XP and the volume on MCE cranked up to max and some channels are really soft. It's not like that on my regular TV. Any ideas?

Latest word is that we should be receiving the dongles the first week of February (barring any issues with them clearing customs which happens from time to time). We'll be shipping them out as soon as they arrive.

Thanks for the update.

Are we going to be supplied a tracking number once they ship out or is it one of those "you'll get it when you get it" type things?

was using my 650pci for a while with antenna until i got my 600usb from sellout. for some reason the 650 doesn't play nice with gbpvr - one of my local stations kept coming up as encrypted, but comes in fine on the usb one. now i'm using it for the clear qam feature

just wondering, has anyone been able to get analog working on the 650 in gbpvr? it should be capable, since it has hardware mpeg2 encoding.

Yeah, I've been using the 650 PCI with GB-PVR for Analog and ClearQAM. Works fine.

Although I have noticed that my provider sometimes switches the channels around. Like some of the channels I got a few weeks ago are now encrypted and were moved to another.

Where are you looking, I was on ATI's website and it still says

Go to the AMD web site and look under drivers. You enter your card type and operating system. it then takes you to the drivers. I'm downloading and trying them now.

UPDATE!! This does not appear to be an updated driver, at least for the 600 card I have. I just downloaded it and installed and it's the same driver number as before. The driver number/version is 6.14.10.394. So what they might have done, something similar to what ATI did on their site, was to just place the vista drivers undate a windows7 area. I think they're hoping that for some, these will work. I'm hoping that doesn't mean that they've stopped working on some real win7 drivers.

I've been using win7 x64 with the 650 and have had no problems gettting it to find the card. Worked right out of the box after I downloaded the vista x64 drivers. I'm sure I will get all kinds of feedback on this, but for the most part vista x64 drivers will work with win7 x64 without a problem. I've tried several for both new and older computer parts and I have yet to have one fail.

Well, I appear to be just one of many who have a problem with these cards finding any QAM channels. If you've followed my posts in preceeding pages here, you'll see that I might also have another problem related to the drivers. I also have an ATI video card in my pc. After spending time on the phone with the ATI techs, they informed me that the drivers that come with the video card sometimes can conflict with the tv card. I did experiment and removed the video card and removed the drivers for it. I was then able to get the tv apps to find the QAM channels. The first indication that this was a problem was when the tech suggested that I try ArcSoft TotalMedia. When I did, it reported that the tv card was already in use or unavailable. I couldn't see. That's when I discussed this with the tech and informed him of my ATI video card. So after removing it, the Arcsoft app could find the card and it worked ok. But removing the card is not an option for me. I need the DVI and HDMI output from the video card to drive my monitor/tv. I informed AMD of this issue, and the responded that they would address it with an updated driver. So I'm still waiting.

In the GB-PVR directory run the "Re-Register Filters.bat" file. Should work after running that file or at least mine did.

I am using an nVidia card so that probably explains it. I can't believe ATI can't offer a better solution. The fact that their own video card causes problems with their own TV card is outrageous.

Sorry for the late response guys - tuners been working like a champ and haven't thought about the troubles I'd had since ^_^

tachi1247 wrote:Can you please elaborate on the differences of what is installed and not installed when using the Vista SP2 option when installing the drivers?

Unfortunately it was awhile ago, however - it was a difference between 3-4 without changing compatibility, and 5-7 files with compatibility.

My memory - the additional drivers were more concerned with compression/tuning drivers. Without compatibility mode my QAM/digital tuner wasn't showing up properly. (the device was recognized, but it wouldn't tune or show up in WMC)

quattroG wrote:Could you please elaborate on what you mean by setting the .exe to sp2 compatibility mode?

right click on the driver.exe in windows and select properties ->

Under the compatibility tab, check the "run this program in compatibility mode for: and select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" apply and then run.

I found the problem in my case .. user error,..you have to assign and map each channel after trying to identify it in the preview pane and then clicking on the name associated with it from (in my case) schedules direct and the zip code applet in the SW

Just to add my experience in case anyone else has the same problem:

On my Vista 64 pc:
The CD that came with the card (600) would not install the drivers. It would just freeze at installing the redistributable c++ 2005... whatever it was called. I had to install the latest drivers directly from the AMD and Diamond sites someone linked earlier. I could see that the c++ version was now 2008, so I think that was the problem with the CD. I installed AMD first, then Diamond, but I'm not sure if both were necessary. In fact, it might have been fine to just let windows install the drivers in the "found new hardware" wizard. Regardless, it is now working fine as the 2nd tuner in vista media center, which already had a tuner installed.

Finally, will we be notified invidually thru email when you get the dongles?

I bought two PCI 650s and I really need those audio/video blocks/dongles. Using coax from my set top box to the analog tuner , the picture is not very clean. Using s-video input is much better.

Thanks.
