Mine just got postponed two days from the 13th to the 15th. Put me on the list. Also, It takes an extra day for the delivery guy to bring USPS stuff to my office.

Atleast mine only lost 0.3 lbs so far. I've read some interesting weight losses (>7 lb). Has anybody's gained weight?

I wish mine would gain some weight and improve from the 0.7 it currently sits at now.

Mine had gained .1, and my wifes (which I should go and pick up, being the nice husband I am) gained .1 also. Its not much, maybe 1 of the pencils, but it sure is nice. And I still can't thank WOOT enough for the wonderful Boggy Old Creature they sent me.

Good idea! New in box and never been used, a crisis pregnancy center or car seat clinic would be happy to have that kind of a donation.

Not to mention, car seats come out with new models every year. So if you give it to someone who may not use one for five years, and who can afford $100 for their offspring to be safe, they will *probably* spring for the newest model that has five years worth of safety improvements.

Well, mine arrived at the GooglePlex yesterday evening, 2 days earlier than Fedex predicted. Now I just have to wait for it to show up in my office. I guess if I go get lunch it will show up as soon as I'm gone.

And car seats expire. So just putting it in storage, the plastic will wear out (not as fast as if it was in a car, but still. . . .) There should be a date stamped in the plastic on the back that either has the manufacture or the expiration (depending on brand). A car seat is only safe for 5 years (6 on some brands - ask your local car seat expert, they are a great source of information).

Sorry, the car seat clinic people at success by 6 keep trying to recruit me because I still regret not doing my own research and getting the Alpha Omega instead of the Marathon. Both are fine car seats, but the Alpha Omega only fit my oldest daughter until she was 3, then she outgrew the harness, she is 5 now and still doesn't weigh enough to use the belt positioner. The Marathon would've kept her harnessed a lot longer and might even still fit. The car seat is about to it's expiration point now so it a moot point.

Still at the time there was only $30 difference between the two and I made a bad choice swayed by a salesman who convinced me I'd be able to use the Alpha Omega longer.

Now I speak car seat. It's really such a simple way to add a little safety to our cars, it's kinda dumb that the manufacturers haven't made the information easier to get and apply (weight isn't the end all, height really is!)

He told he i need to wait till the mail man brought it and there was no guarantee they would get it to me tomorrow even though it says scheduled delivery for tomorrow and they are 5 mins from my house.....he was a total jerkface

Yes, those seem to be a hot item.

If anyone wants to get rid of their TENS pads, there seriously is some interest on this board, just ask before you toss.

Well, I can see *some* sense in it. I mean, think about plastic in really old stuff. It seems to get a bit brittle over time.

Now, I don't think that it gets brittle enough in 5 years to warrant the thing unsafe to handle a kid. So you're probably right. But it's probably an extreme exaggeration on their behalf that is in place to avoid lawsuits based on some fact. They just exaggerated enough to also sell a few more car seats.

This was 4 years ago, I'm sure there have been some changes.

Questions to ask yourself:
1) is my child on the tall and skinny side? How long will the harnesses really fit?

2) how old is my child now and how long do I really expect to use this car seat for them?

3) am I ok with passing this on to a younger sibling (if there will be one) and buying another car seat when my child outgrows part of this one?

4) Is my child big for their age and will they be big enough for the seat belt positioner AND able to stay sitting upright and awake while wearing it in the car?

It is a good car seat and is safe for kids that are small enough for the harnesses or big enough for the belt positioner. Many manufacturers have increased the height of the harnesses in the last couple years. . . this may have helped fix some of the problem I had (which was largely due to the fact that I didn't do any research). My kids are tall and skinny. My 5 year old is still under 40 lbs, she is also 4ft tall.

I hope this helps.

Considering the number of SSOC's received and opened, and the fact that we've only had mention of 1 letter, what does everyone think of the speculation that there might have been 2 letters, since 3k carps were sold instead of the usual 1500?
