I try to catch and release.
Now, sometimes I am releasing a fly outside into the snow. Where it will die really fast.
Never had a mouse. I'm guessing if it were only one or two, I would try to trap and release. Tons....then I would kill.
Kill roaches and things like that. I guess they weren't roaches, since I've killed about a dozen a year since we lived here. If they were, we would have been overrun years ago!

Me, too. And I'm quite happy not to make any connection between the moo cows in the field and the cellophane-wrapped steak in the grocery store.

I prefer not to kill, but I have killed and cleaned my own food, from fish to birds to beef.

But I also catch spiders and move them outside.

Rusty was very, very interested when the guy next door was cleaning a deer in his yard!
It seems it was too warm out to keep the deer outside until it could go to the butcher.
It is not a common thing around here.

I have cleaned fish. I don't hunt though, and have no interest in it. I know a LOT of hunters, male and female. It's not for me though....

I kill flies, spiders, wasps, hornets, and other flying and crawling creatures. I catch and release lizards though. I like my lizards. Haven't seen any here yet but it's too cold right now.

I got my first shotgun when I was 9. ;) I grew up on a ranch, we raised animals for the table.

I also worked for the G&F for years and years.

But...Meat isn't my primary protein source. I'm not vegetarian. I can't separate the animal from the cellophane package.

The deer population here is staggering. A lot are starving. I doubt if I could kill one unless I was starving, but I'm thankful there's a lot of hunters out there that want to kill them.

I have been hearing fireworks on a fairly consistent basis for about 3 hours. There are still some.

Recession must have hit the folks on the street behind me. They used to do a HUGE fireworks display with lots of loud stuff that drove my dog insane.
