Me, too. And I'm quite happy not to make any connection between the moo cows in the field and the cellophane-wrapped steak in the grocery store.

I prefer not to kill, but I have killed and cleaned my own food, from fish to birds to beef.

But I also catch spiders and move them outside.

I have cleaned fish. I don't hunt though, and have no interest in it. I know a LOT of hunters, male and female. It's not for me though....

I got my first shotgun when I was 9. ;) I grew up on a ranch, we raised animals for the table.

I also worked for the G&F for years and years.

But...Meat isn't my primary protein source. I'm not vegetarian. I can't separate the animal from the cellophane package.

The deer population here is staggering. A lot are starving. I doubt if I could kill one unless I was starving, but I'm thankful there's a lot of hunters out there that want to kill them.

I have been hearing fireworks on a fairly consistent basis for about 3 hours. There are still some.

Recession must have hit the folks on the street behind me. They used to do a HUGE fireworks display with lots of loud stuff that drove my dog insane.
