Unfortunately, bought the 2gb previously on woot - wish I had waited. Sound quality is great, but have not been able to set up playlist, even after following instructions myself, then having tech savy friend try setting it up. Disappointing since really wanted to use playlist at gym - now it just goes through all music loaded on it and I have to keep skipping the slower tracks. Thinking I may have a defective unit, but don't want to return since all music is loaded onto it. Read on web about several other customers that had same problem with their sansa fuzes. Any suggestions of what else to try? Also, agree with other poster that earbuds are really cheap, and kept falling out. Bought new ones from woot that are excellent.

I bought one of these and it came in right after Christmas. I LOVE it! Very easy and simple to use. No issues with the battery when using the FM tuner and no trouble charging. I had to download some software from the Sansa site to convert certain file types so the my Fuse would play them, but it's FREE software and all is AWESOME!!!!! Even the built in mic for voice recording does a good job.

Yes, I actually found this bug on the Sansa Forums - that's where I sourced the link I originally posted.

And yes, it's true the pitch problem is small and probably will go unnoticed by many people.

Still, I think it is enough of a problem that it should at least be disclosed by Woot. It's not normal for MP3 players to have this issue, regardless of how many people can detect it.

There are a great many audiophiles and musicians who may be tempted to buy this.

Also, many people buy these for their children, some of whom may be audiophiles- and musicians-in-training. Why give them a product that conflicts with the development of strong aural awareness?

And remember that Sandisk has known about this issue for at least 10 months and still no fix.

I think people should be informed about what they're buying, that's all.

When we see frequent Woots of the same item, there is usually a reason.

My wife and I have the clip and use them all the time... Great Quality... I even bought a spare the last time they went up for sale... I have avoided the newer sansa players because they abandoned the standard USB 'B type' connector...

Just letting people know these refurbs are not very dependable. And yes I have been able to return items if it has only been a few days after the warranty. So...seriously...go Woot yourself. I don't need your lip.

Some reviews differed, but it seems you have to use some software to make playlists, a lot of people said windows media player.

in for one!

I've always resisted, but I can't any longer. My wife has an 8GB Ipod, and an Itouch that I borrow... haven't had my own MP3 player in 5 years.

Looking forward to it.

It does work with Audible files, I use them all the time. Bookmarking I am not very clear on. I don't know how to set a bookmark myself, but it does remember where you were in an audiobook from use to use, even if you switch between audiobooks.

I buy Sansas as gifts . I pulled a few out for Christmas. Two clips & a larger 8 gb Sansa were dead. Glad I checking them before sending , but upset that I waited too long.

I have bought many Sansas on Woot, all refurbs. These are the only ones I have had problem with.
I just purchased a couple 2GB Fuzes. No idea yet if they work. Wish I had waited and bought these.

If you're buying as gifts or extras, just make sure to check them immediately.

Sandisk is the only MP3 player that I have ever owned. The first one (which I used for 2 years working 12 hour shifts and the battery never wore out) I gave to my nephew because Woot had a newer one ridiculously cheap and the third on I got for the same reason, which happens to be this Fuze. So far I love it and I use Windows Explorer to drag and drop the files. Sometimes they will freeze-up, and I try different things to get them going. Using a different computer USB port helps. I dislike ipod's itunes which my wife has, and ipod has no radio, which is how I ended up getting my first Sanza.

There's no true setting of "bookmarks", but it does remember your spot. Check the firmware version, though. There was a firmware update for audiobooks which my refurbd fuze didn't come with. Easy to update and it works fine now (I also reformatted my Fuze to be safe). Go here for help: http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board?board.id=sansafuse

I'm debating on getting another, but what I really want is the Sansa "Clip+" (no video- which I've never used, but it's tiny and has a built-in clip for attaching to your shirt).

If you have an older USB port, it will work, but it will not be as fast as a 2.0. I believe I have USB 1.1 and it still charges and transfers files.

There is also an aftermarket (non-Sansa) charger that you can plug into the wall which converts the USB connection to a power connection for a standard US power outlet. I have not tried it.

Yup. I see:

8GB
===
$14.99 - Class 6 RiData (Supermediastore)
$17.69 - Class 2 SanDisk (eBay - beware)
$17.99 - Class 2 SanDisk (eBay - beware)
$20.99 - Class 2 Kingston (buy.com)
$22.99 - Class ? Transcend (newegg)

I just got burned by a counterfeiter who sold a 1GB SanDisk card that was labeled as a 16GB, so I've sworn off eBay memory products and cannot recommend them to anyone. The $14.99 price for the C6 RiData card is very good, but unless you've got a $25 order the $4.99 shipping kills it.

I'll stick with the $17 A-DATA C6 card from Amazon with free shipping, but thanks for reminding me about deals.woot.

Or just use a tool like "Any Video Converter". Last time I used it, the Sansa Media Converter was buggy and annoying to use. The only thing it does for you is convert to an appropriate format (but just choose "MP4" in Any Video Converter), and copy the converted file to the Fuze (but just copy it yourself ;-).

I have the Sandisk Sansa fuze 8gb and the Sansa Clip. I LOVE both of these players (didn't buy the fuze off of woot though). (the 8 and the 4 gb are the same device just have different holding capacities)

I love the scroll wheel, un like the ipod, the wheel actually turns, it has a home button to bring to the main menu, which is a little boring and you can't individulize it (other than changing background color). and a button in the middle of the scroll key as an "ok" or enter button.

I have had some problems with this device, i have broken 3 of them in 1 year, (I sat on one, one didn't work from the beginning, and one fell off my bed onto my carpet). Sansa support replies back quickly but always sends the generic "We can't replace it" email, but i have managed to have all of them replaced (with out lying) for free.

I love this player, use it for music only, the picture quality could be loads better (never used video or audio books).
You have the option of radio, equalizers (preset or create your own) There is a On-The-Go play list you can add music to from the device, as well as be able to look music up from the album, the song, the artist, the genre, or if you gave it a high rating.

This player gets loud enough (i don't use the headphones given) and very rarely have ever had to turn it up past 50%.

It is a very simple player to use, it has always worked flawlessly with my memory card, and is wonderful :D at least in MHO

And if you're an eBay seller that offers refunds, beware of the latest scam ... seller buys your memory card, claims it doesn't work, then returns a counterfeit card to you for a refund.

Actually, any AC-to-USB power converter will work, unless it provides a really low output amperage. I have like four different AC-to-USB converter blocks, and use them all interchangeably to charge my Blackberry, iPod Touch, Kindle and Sansa (yep, I'm a gadget geek).

Bought the 4gb last time around for $4 more for my 7 y/o daughter that wanted an "ipod" and saved $100 compared to a nano, however, the only docking station I could find was an altec-lansing that nobody had in stock and was over $100 in price. Wanted a docking station because I didn't really want her using headphones. Broke down and bought the Nano and picked up a $30 docking station. She's happy, the ipod records video which she loves, and I inherited the Sansa (still sitting on my desk)

You can get the 8gb version at buy.com "referb" for 49.99 free shipping. I bought one and there was no referb engraving and came in new wrapping so fir me it was a new item or mislabeled. I have bought this one last time around for my mom and it works great, as new. But that nasty engraving. I'd go to buy.com much better deal.

http://www.buy.com/prod/sandisk-sansa-fuze-8gb-media-player-silver-refurbished/q/loc/111/213323828.html

This one is silver they are out of black.

I love this little thing. It's not an ipod and you navigate completely differently but being able to sync with Windows Media Player, or drag and drop there is just no better solution. iTunes is bloatware I hate using it there are alternatives to itunes that are MUCH better hint **CopyTrans Manager app which is free.
