It should appear in "My account" immediately. Also, we only allow you to purchase a sale one time (up to three at a time, of course). If you have any problems, feel free to get in touch with service@woot.com.

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

I also assume the cord is what the "Wire Management System (Black, White and Clear)" in the box is for.

That pretty much kills the use on the refrigerator for me.

Right. This comes with cord management conduit that runs from the device, around the hinge of the fridge, then to a power outlet. it does not run on batteries.

OK, we suckered up for three of them. Now if we can remember where we stored them for 2010 Christmas gifts... OH, we can use one to remind us where we hid the other two.
Thanks WOOT!, we are looking for these to arrive.

Too bad it doesn't have wi-fi or some sort of internet capability. It'd be great if it integrated with my Google calendar or email... or if it just displayed the weather, etc.

Wonder how hackable it is.

If it takes memory cards, couldn't you use the EYE-FI SD card in it and send it to a system?

Product will also stand on countertop (or desk). Definitely a food target location in some homes.

Can also be mounted on the wall:
Plastic Wall Anchor (2)
Flat-Head Self-Tapping Screw (2)
Double-Sided Tape
Mounting Hole Template

I like that it doesn't run on batteries. I hate messing with batteries; and I always pass up products that run on batteries and you have to buy the electric power adapter separately. Feh!

in EYE-FI with a firmware update for additional widgets would be awesome... or a USB wifi stick?

Ok...just to make sure...not only could I take a picture of the dog

record a message to "TAKE the dog out.."

write a message to "TAKE the dog out.."

I could actually set the alarm to remind someone to look, read and listen to the message to "TAKE the dog out..."

Wow!

This is one of those things that seems like a good idea until you actually own it and realize that you never, ever use it.

Case in point: When's the last time you used the memo feature on your phone? **crickets chirping**

Let's face it, if you want to update someone on your criminal undertakings, you will either just text or call the person. Right? Let's stop kidding ourselves that we will take a few minutes and record a memo. Not gonna happen.

I thought it was pretty good. The one guy even stated that he was too close to the microphone. I'm sure that once you learn how to use it the quality will improve.

That being said, I still think this is a device that I would rarely use.

Doesn't the Eye-Fi only work wirelessly in one direction - upload to PC or web? How do you wirelessly load content onto the Eye-Fi card?

Regardless, it appears to me that this device won't play content off the memory card; it has a browser to be able to select photos to copy from the memory card to internal memory, but from the manual it seems the photos have to be internal to be displayed on the home screen/slide show/etc.

Or do I have to have an A/C adaptor plugged into it the entire time (similar to a standard digital photo frame)? Or does this thing take AA batteries too? Thanks!

A watch battery wouldn't be able to power a video screen and webcam for more than around 30 seconds.

A 7" for $40 is not a bad price, especially to repurpose the screen into other projects.

I've been attempting to Google the product to see if I can find some breakdown pictures, as there has to be some other geek out there that was maybe looking to repurpose this device, however with the Woot posting today I am not getting back anything useful what so ever.

Not to mention the little easy to hide camera.

That was my first thought too. But then I realized I would most likely get some messages recorded on it that I probably wouldn't want or that it would get stolen. It's bad enough what drunk strangers can do with just a marker. Too bad because it would be awesome.

I'm thinking of getting one for my elderly mother. Not only would she appreciate the pictures, but she's getting absentminded enough (early Alzheimers) that the reminders would be really handy, and COMFORTING if my father leaves them.

AustinMiniMan wrote:This is kind of interesting, but I personally can only think of one use for it. My dad and I restore old cars, and when we're disassembling something, we take photos so we know how it goes back together. Normally I just take my laptop out there to view them back, but that isn't exactly the friendliest environment for a laptop. However, to do any good, the screen need to be fairly high resolution. Can that four hundred by two hundred something figure for the camera or the screen? I guess my question is whether or not this is a decent photo viewer... can it zoom in on individual photos?

I highly doubt that it can zoom right out of the box (didn't read the manual... just guessing). Further more, I doubt that it has the proper input control to be able to hack it in such a way that you could force it to. However, I happen to do the exact same thing you do in my garage, and I also got uncomfortable bring my laptop out there. So, I got a cheep flat screen and mounted it on the wall out there, and ran the worlds longest video cable from the office, to the garage. Plus a wireless keyboard and mouse, wala, works great. It was a PIA to set up, but TOTALLY worth it in the end.

No they don't. In fact a fun thing to do in front of people is slap a big neodymium magnet against your flashdrive or SD card and watch people go "NOOOOO DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!".

Now I still wouldn't do it to a harddrive but truth is... we've come a long way from floppy disks.

I gotta say, this is soooo tempting! What a cool idea, it's almost worth it just for the calendar - since a few year's worth of calendar purchases would make up for it! If only it ran on batteries and/or had wifi...this might be an 11:55pm decision for me

The term "first sucker" takes on new meaning with this product... I know because I was a sucker last time... I used it once, lol... Nice product but it takes effort to program it and stuff, plus, I'm not sure how much power it uses and the power adapter is fairly large and obvious.

Two things.

1) Cord management. I have a pretty short refrigerator, so I plan to mount this so that the top edge is even with the top of the fridge. This will also be along the hinge, so it will be very easy to run the cord and hide it along the top of the refrigerator. I will have it in an extension cord going down to a power strip/surge suppressor. I think this will work nicely.

2) I am a beginning artist and I plan to load it up with inspirational art from the Internet, so every time I look that way, I'll have cool imagery on the slide show to inspire me. Maybe some of you would have a similar use...

I'm in for another Item I Never Would Have Thought To Purchase Until I saw It At Woot. An IINWHTTPUISIAW. (Better acronyms welcome.)
