I love this laptop. Only problem right now is that it overheats. I am use to leaving my laptops on "Stand By Mode" but this one overheats. Now it won't turn on so I am a bit scared. I am sure it will come back up once I unplug it and let the batery drain.
I am not surprise it did not come with the operating system hardware (drives etc) does anyone know that best way to get that stuff if I have to install XP again?

Over all, It is a good item for the price.

Got mine today. Haven't had a chance to play with the peripherals but the netbook itself booted up fine. The only issue so far is that the battery isn't holding a charge. It was plugged in for over five hours without being used and it wouldn't power on without being plugged in. Looks like I'll be calling on the warranty tomorrow. Despite that I'm still happy with the purchase.

Got mine, opened it up uninstalled all the BS, and then noticed a few small white lines runnig down the left side of the screen. They're not "REALLY" noticeable but enough to make me a little worried that it could lead to bigger problems. Any suggestions? I hate to call, PAY to have this shipped back to them, and then get something else that gets lemon juice in the eye. If this won't get worse I really won't bother returning it.

Received mine today! Everything worked very well. Was a bit weary of getting a refurbished netbook, but everything(including accessories) worked like a charm! This is a nice little machine.

I e-mailed Acer on-line support and they were actually quite responsive. Here is what I received from them regarding a user manual for the external DVD drive:

In order to download the manual for the external DVD drive, please visit the following link and click on the 'DVDRW option.pdf' given at the bottom of the page: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/netbook/0000/Acer/AspireOneAOA110/

Got mine, and all works well. Still removing the crapware. I suggest DLing the freeware app CCLEANER. It will remove left over junk and registry leftovers. DO make the backup DVDs as suggested!

Gonna DL the DVD drive manual to find out why there are two USB plugs. I does seem a bit delicate and sometimes the DVD pops out right away.

Had NO problem running my standard freeware apps, Kompozer, Photofiltre, Irfanview, Search Everything, RoughDraft and VLC media player.

Mine came with a DVD of Aviator. Talk about a surprise.

I plugged in the DVD drive, put in a movie and it did not play. I then downloaded the VLC media player (which took about a minute), put in the same movie, played perfectly. Problem solved!

So TODAY, Wal-Mart dropped the price of the 250 GB version (branded emachine) ot $268 NEW. Of course, no DVD or mouse. But brand new.

Have you managed to find the manual? Everywhere I look I only find reviews etc. I'm really curious about the 2 USB plugs as well.

Should a wall wart have come with the accessory pack for the DVD drive? Mine did not, and the drive says it requires 2 amps, which is more than the USB ports can supply.

I was under the impression that when there are two USB plugs, the extra one is basically to bring more power to the unit because a single USB alone does not have enough to adequately support all the power and data needs. If you remove the rubber plug on the back of the DVD drive and get a 110v home adapter (i.e radio shack), you can probably get away with using one USB plug. But I am not 100% sure on this....

Thanks. Few AC-to-USB power adapters can supply that kind of current, and the drive has a DC input jack on the back. Would still like to hear from others as to whether a power adapter was included in the accessory kit.

The kit came with the carrying case, the DVD drive, the Y-USB plug, and the wireless mouse. No wall-type power adapter was included.

I plugged both USB plugs into the 2 ports that are on the right side of the netbook and it powered the DVD drive just fine. I uploaded Nero 9, McAfee, and watched a movie. No additional power needed.

open the battery compartment, inside there is a little rectangular box with the FCC logo on it (that is the wireless receiver...I know it doesn't look like one, but it is), pull that out and plug it into the USB port on the netbook.

Hmm, I see the spot where mine would be but it's missing. Anyone know how I would go about to get a replacement USB Mouse radio reciver thing?

Try first with Acer as they carry the 90-day warranty. They should be able help you.

I suspect it will read discs fine but not burn them--takes much more power to run the burning laser.

I have an Acer aspire 10 and it works fine as long as I have it plugged into an outlet. If I try to run it off just the battery, it does not stay logged onto the internet. I have tried a new battery but the same thing happens. Even when the battery is showing 97%. Any ideas or suggestions? Have you heard of others having this problem?
I have 2 other computers and have no problems hooking up to my wireless internet.

There is a USB transceiver that should be on the mouse. Plug that into a USB port and it will work.

i got a virus
it fried the hdd controller
ive googled everything i could and so far havent been able to fix it

no replacement parts for Netbooks avail

new hdd didnt work

flashed bios

found all the drivers available on Acer's and other websites no problem, but there isnt a specific miniport driver that controls hdd read/write

also changed ACHI (SATA) to IDE when trying to reformat/fresh install of windows

nothing worked so far

just be careful
it fried out on me JUST after the 90 day warranty from Woot through another company....but it will boot from USB with Slax

google that ;)
