Bought one of these last time they were on woot. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the video for the price. The interface is not very user friendly, but I'm an engineer, so I can live with that :P

Is it worth it to buy this camera, or wait until a Flip comes back to the woot stage?

That's the search I just did for this specific camera. Quality looks grainy. I believe the camera that was sold just earlier had better quality.

I shot some video of skydivers down in FL with it, and 30 fps did not result in blurry or choppy video. I believe it will go up to 60 fps on a lower resolution (like 480p).

I gave this camera some consideration the first time around here on WOOT! but couldn't find info in the user manual related to the focusing system. I shoot lots of objects that move close and far, auto focus isn't good for such subjects. Need a predictable manual focus otherwise the camera is almost useless. Anyone know if this model can do a good, consistent manual focus? TIA!

I think this question came up the last time around, and I believe the answer is that you can get about 15 mins per gig.

Not to be disagreeable, but the fps doesn't make the image blurry. It changes the fluidity - 10fps will seem choppier than 60fps when played in real time. Feature films are usually 24fps. The shutter speed of the frames is what controls whether it is blurry. If all 30fps are all taken at 1/30 of a second, yes it will be very blurry. However, in bright light, camcorders will adjust and take quicker frames so your outdoor soccer game should be fine.

All that being said, I do not have this camcorder, and I can't speak directly about it. It may be blurry, but not because it is 30fps.

It does have a manual focus mode, but I wouldn't call it great. When you are in manual focus, you have to use this little joystick thing to move it up or down in the spectrum. It will work, but not really swiftly or smoothly. Hope that helps!

I, too, found the Amazon link, but if it was built to retail at $189, this isn't a GREAT savings. My musings are on the lens sharpness and low light capability.

Buy.com has it for the $189, but if they don't sell out today at woot, I betcha Buy will be offering them in 2 weeks for $139 or $149...
