Remember that the the amps are important. I would rather go with a 500mA charger (like the Moto CLIQ) on a device that uses a 550mA charger, than a higher amp charger - then crossing your fingers that something will not fry.

Also keep in mind that data cables don't automatically work for charging.

I'd rather just buy a USB-A to Micro cable for a few bucks more.

Fair point on the current. As far as data cables not working, I refuse to purchase devices that work like that. All it does is add to my cable clutter and make the dozens of USB cables that I already have useless. USB is a standard for a reason... If they want to extend it, fine. But let it charge off 1/2 amp, or don't use USB for power at all... Just MHO...

I have to sort of agree with you. The first couple of Bowl of Cereal that I was able to purchase contained much better carp than any of the most recent Bowl of Cereal that I have gotten.

It appears that Woot is now buying stuff especially designed to fill Bowl of Cereal instead of what they used to do which was use stuff they had laying around the warehouse.

The Bowl of Cereal just isn't what it used to be. That is why I am not upset if I don't get one. Because chances are it means I have $8 to waste on lottery tickets instead of spending on a Bowl of Cereal that will end up being given away to charity because there is nothing I find useful for myself inside. And with the lottery tickets I can dream of winning enough money to never have to worry again about buying stuff online to save a buck.

It will fit, but it will be very slow if it charges at all. The specs say it supplies 0.1 Amps of power, the official HTC charger supplies a full 1.0 Amp of power.

Some places send you leftover junk in the warehouse - THAT is a REAL Bowl of Cereal. But when you start sending out purpose-built boxes with all the same trash, then it isn't fun anymore.

nope...eris is different. this one mainly works with older phones and devices, say anything that came out before the verizon storm 1.

These definitely work for my HTC T-Mobile Dash, which is a ghetto Blackberry (and a great phone if you can deal with Windows Mobile). Useful as a backup, but I have too many of them lying around to shell out almost six bucks.

Sorry, but you're half wrong on that one.

The Droid Eris has an ExtUSB port, but a USB Mini B will plug right in.

Some other newer HTC phones use Micro USB which is a smaller plug and Mini USB does not fit.

But, to repeat myself one last time for clarity - 0.1 Amp is probably not enough to actually charge a smart phone.

first of all, the quantity issue is cosmetic. You didn't get 3, nor do you get 3 now, for choosing 3. It was simply a method of slowing people down and/or weeding out some of the competition. The Bowl of Cereal is also a luck-of-the-draw item. If your Bowl of Cereal sucked, sorry, but that's the risk you take when you bought a BAG OF CRUD. It's in the name, deal with it. Your excitement of getting one in the first place was worth the $8.

I am a huge Woot fan, and I would personally rather that they devote their efforts to giving great deals for everyone. The Bag was a loss leader that helped develop what is now a huge following, and they can't be expected to bleed money forever.

I believe Woot used to give a Bundle to anyone who bought 100 Woots - that's a good compromise (not that I'm saying that they should eliminate Wootoff Bundles altogether - that would be sacrilege!).

Not so! It's true that the Eris is a unique shape, but that's just so the charger that comes with the phone can't be used to charge anything else. I charge my eris with mini-usb all the time. In fact, don't get weirded out, but I'm doing it right now.

HTC's ExtUSB is actually an extension of MiniUSB. It's backwards compatible if you use a MiniUSB cable. So if it is, in fact, a ExtUSB connector, this should actually be able to charge it...

If this doesn't sell out soon, it's not my fault, I bought 3. Figured I could keep these in storage for when my husband leaves his charger behind at work, or on a business trip.

Exactly, The Strangers (2008) I've never gotten one...but I have tried several times. For me the excitement is finally getting through when it shows up...wow, that's sad huh?
