Happy 4th everyone!
Not sure what to do with myself today. Family all out of town. Most church friends doing stuff with their families. Friends I normally would hang out with is staying in w/ his mom (cancer, this may be her last week with us).
Just seems wrong to spend the holiday working on stuff around the house. I did find a few old firecrackers in the garage left over from two or three years ago. probably not safe to light off, but then again, isn't that what the 4th is all about? And there are the sparklers leftover from sister's wedding that I made sure to grab as we were cleaning everything up, but those will only last for all of 20 seconds worth of fun.
Quick holiday factoid for y'all -- as you celebrate the 4th of July, be very very careful that you don't get injured. This happens to be the absolute worst weekend to find yourself in the hospital. The medical school calendar starts it's new year every year on the 1st of July, which means all the residents are still getting adjusted to their new positions, new first-year residents, new schedules, etc. It makes the hospitals chaotic enough before you even consider the annual influx of alcohol and firework induced holiday injuries.
