Poor pup.

We have to see if we can board Rusty.
Instead of going into the city for an afternoon to see hubbys Aunt, cousin and her daughter, it was decided we should all drive up to sister in law's summer house.
Ugh
3 hours, unless you get stuck in traffic
2 day stay in all the hotels near there. Plus they are all expensive.
Their dog doesn't like other dogs, so even though the hotels take dogs and s i l has acres of land and a huge house...no dogs.
Of course, god forbid they couldn't bring their dog. Their dog goes where they go.

Ahhh, hubby just got home from work. He thinks it is last year all over again too.
The parents arent going. Hell, it is only his dad's sister. They are in their 80's. but he still isn't going.

If they stayed in the city, we could drive in. Park on the street. Spend the day and go home. SOOOOOO much easier. The city is a ghost town on the weekends in the summer.

But we haven't seen the aunt in a long time. or the cousins.
Daughter is thinking about going.

Well, it will depend on if I can board the dog

Yeah, but these guys take their dog everywhere.

They were the ones that started the family reunion trips and picked the crazy expensive resort, only because the dog could go.

So, it is, dog friendly trips, except for their dog only.

This is a house, in the country. On acres of land.

My inlaws hate animals. The sister in law has been told that her mom is upset every time the dog spends the night at her house.
They still bring the dog every time they visit. They always drink and then spend the night.

The real problem is the drive and the expense. The cheapest place to stay is $300 for the two night stay. Plus the dog kennel.
For a place we really don't want to go to!
We want to see the people though.

Plus, we learned from last year, read the invite carefully....we are being invited to a bbq on sat. Sat lunch and dinner. Nothing friday night. Maybe food Sun before the drive home.

We could do a one day. or one meal in the city so much easier.

Hubby doesn't mind morning driving. I can drive at 1am or later, with no problem, so we might do a day trip.
So far only 6 people said they were going, and two of them backed out when they looked at the hotels.

Stay home!

Rusty stays at a doggie resort. The dogs all seem happy to go.
I wouldn't want to leave him at the vet or someplace like that.

But he has never stayed more than 2 or 3 nights.
The last time we went away for a week it was just the rats and they totally enjoyed the vet stay.
Well, not the second time, when they were old. But the first time, I think the vet staff was playing with them all day.

Really. We need a pay one price resort. Less then 3 hours away.
Make if for a few days. Leave the animals home, because Rusty wasn't at all happy when we had to leave him in his crate in the hotel room alone.
If son was sleeping, he was fine. Alone, he was scared.

Or someone needs a animal friendly house, with a fenced in yard and other dogs that like each other!
So maybe we would crate them in the same room and they wouldn't be so scared.

Plus make it short enough so there are no blowups!

You find someone he likes and pay them to stay at your place. That's what I did in WA since I didn't have family near.

This is just relatives coming for less than a week and deciding to go to the vacation house for the only weekend.

Honestly, it would be easier to just go down to New Orleans and see them there!

LOL, we should have made a movie of that.
That was a disaster.

If you invite a ton of people to your house....and you know they love to get crazy, because you are one of them and you love to get crazy....but you want to keep your house perfect.....
DON'T INVITE PEOPLE TO YOUR HOUSE!

I think the rule of thumb should be, if you invite people up to visit you, but you expect them to stay in a hotel.....you really aren't inviting them to your house.

How did seeing the relatives turn into a vacation week for everyone else?
If I want to go away for the weekend, I don't want to go there!

If there was a hotel close, that would take one night, that would be good.
Then again, isnt the idea of the hotel, so you can drink? But you cant if you have to drive to the hotel.
Hubby and I don't really drink much, but it is the principle!

Oh, I found a new problem!

My neck is half tan.

Some of it is tan and some of it isn't.

W the F is that all about????

Now I have to paint on sunblock on the tan parts and go out in the sun especially to tan my neck
Life was easier when I didn't go out.

How hot will it be tomorrow? I got up at 6am to walk the dog so I knew he did something before I went to mom.

When I got up for the day, it was hot, we only walked less than 1/2 a mile.
