This might be a dumb question, but since I know next to nothing about XB360 (PC, all the way...), I'm gonna ask anyway: looking at the included cable, could this work in a standard 2.5mm audio jack?

Doesn't matter what anyone said, I bought this.

Anything is better than my current mic, which is held together by will power and duct tape.

Unless it comes with interchangeable jacks, this one is a size down from the standard 2.5mm audio jacks and is therefore incompatible.

It doesn't have any sliding expansion feature. But it does stretch pretty wide, I have a large head and didn't have problems.

I bought one of these for my oldest son last year, and he used it for a couple weeks before busting the boom mic (he can be a little rough with his toys, particularly after getting shot in COD) It was replaced with a turtle beach that he takes care of, but when I saw these here on woot I went in to his room to ask if he liked it (should I pick up a few spares? Would they be good for his brothers?) I got a 'hell yeah' response from him, so in for 3! (and thinking about picking up 3 more with the wife's account!)

Cost for 3 is less than I paid for 1 last year!

I'm not used to seeing headsets like these. I'm a Vikings fan, and Coach Chilly dares to be different.

I got this on clearance from a store a few years back for 6 bucks, figuring it would be good as a backup headset. All I know is, the minute I plug it into my wireless controller, my battery indicator immediately goes to flashing

It depends how deaf you are in the ear that's not covered by this mono headset. :-)

No, "standard" size is 1/8in (aka 3.5mm). 360 headsets use the standard 2.5mm size.

Ah. At least I didn't say it was 1/4 inch jacks. Then things would get interesting. Thanks for the correction.

Well, a standard headphone jack is 3.5mm, so some form of adapter would be needed in this case regardless (if it were to work at all). I guess what I'm wondering (now that I've pondered it further), is if there's any kind of 2.5mm audio/mic -> 3.5mm audio & mic splitter out there, and if it would work with this.

I bought one for 9.99 off buy.com a couple of weeks ago. It's a pretty rugged feeling thing, and I can see where it would be uncomfortable after a while. The one that I received was a reject. The microphone didn't work very well at all, and the speaker wasn't loud enough even when maxxed out. If you're looking for a crazy gaming headset, keep looking. If you want something different from the standard issue and don't mind a weight strapped to your nugget, then this is your item. I'm waiting on my replacement. I plan to use it as a spare for when my wireless headset needs charging.

the standard audio jack (like the one in a laptop or MP3 player) is 3.5mm (1/8"). 2.5mm is a size lower. since this jack comes w/ a 2.5mm jack, it *is* incompatible as strifewind says. his post is completely correct (if the 2 in 2.5 were a 3).

it would be valuable to know *which* cell phone it works with, or if it works with cordless phones. i could use a good headset for my uniden cordless.

Bulk packaging usually means "No Packaging" or in a clear plastic bag without an insert. Not something you would find on a retail store shelf.

I've used an Xbox 360 throat communicator with a PC just for the heck of it. I don't remember exactly how I had it all rigged up, but I recall using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and I believe I may have used an airline adapter to split the mic and receiver portions of the single jack. In short, it can be done, albeit with a mass of adapters and bulk...or this nifty little adapter you've linked us to! (Also, the volume of the audio and my voice was just fine through the PC.)

"In the box:

* Xbox 360 adapter with volume control
* 4-foot 2.5 mm cord" <-------

It looks like it unplugs at the adapter.

I've had this headset for years; got it when it was first released when NFL Head Coach came out for the original Xbox.

I freaking LOVE this thing. Mine has been slowly dying for the last year or so, and I've been trying to find another at a reasonable price.

Woot!

I bought one of these a couple weeks ago on Buy.com for $9.99. This is my 4th headset and works the best. I have 2 regular wired xbox 360 headsets, and 1 wireless xbox 360 headset. All 3 I found to be POS. So far this Motorola headset seems to be the best and my friends on Xbox live have said that they can hear me better. I seem to notice better reception on my end as well. Like some other posters have mentioned, after a couple hours the headset gets to be a bit uncomfortable. Maybe it's just b/c I have a big head...

Anyone know if this will work with a MadCatz TE Fightstick? My Turtle Beach is awesome but it doesnt work because i have to have the controller physically plugged in for power( wireless for fighting games is not good) anyway should this work for a simple mic? The TB headset is great with the regular controller but not for my arcade stick. . .

I don't know how you guys can stand playing L4D2 on the Xbox 360, joysticks just seem so inaccurate for FPS, and paying for free DLC?

Well, as long as you have fun i guess...

That said, if anyone wants to play something that's not already on PC with me on xbox, add zoneykid :D
