Irrelevant to the actual product, but out of all of the mistakes on Woot, this one has bothered me the most:

"McDurwood has since retired from the sport, but still makes time to go online under a fake Gamertag to play and share his vast knowledge with others, all from the comfort of his parent’s basement, his place of residence for over thirty years."

Mostly it's because I'm unsure of whether it is a mistake or not. Is 'parents' plural? If so, then, it should be "parents' basement." If McDurwood only has one parent, then it's correct! This is killing me irrationally!

Mutant League Football was awesome, by the way. Someone needs to remake that game...

Consider teaching them responsibility by not allowing them to break the things you buy and have them immediately replaced. It seems like no big deal right now but when they do the same thing with a cars a few years down the line it will get expensive.

Soooo.... given this headset completely covers one of your ears and only carries voice chat, can we assume that anyone using this to play an FPS is destined to be pwned from the left side over and over?

ANYTHING can be modded....

Whether it works or not after is entirely up to the skill of the modder.

In for one cause of the price.

I just hope the muff isn't too noise canceling so I can hear the surround when playing FPS. Not being able to hear if someone is behind is somewhat hindering.

I accidentally the woot I wanted.

KoraPlaya wrote:how good is this with noise cancellation?

It's safe to assume it's pretty louse for noise cancellation, since it only covers one ear and is designed specifically so that you CAN hear outside sounds.

If you're asking about how well the mic does at picking up your voice but not picking up ambient noise, you're not asking about noise cancellation, and I can't answer your question having not used the product.

I just got a 360 over the weekend. Do you have to have a headset to play online?

Only if you want to be cool.

Actually, many games have voice chat, which these are for. It is not required, but it is quite often helpful.

No you don't, because the headset is voice only.... but if you want to talk to other people, you do.

My son has spent three months with a taped up headset because he stomped it when left in a bad place in the floor.

I guess he's learned his lesson. In for 2 because they are cheap.

I agree, the earpiece is comfy, but the other side that grabs your head to stay on is pretty tight. And unfortunately by "tight" I don't mean awesome. After a while (an hour?) I need to take it off to give my skull a rest.

Just my $.02

this is the first thing ive seen/bought on woot!! am shocked by this!! This is a great price for a headset of this quality. Good luck finding even a standard MS headset for 8.99. but like tozar said it only produces chat not game. so in essence it is only a nicer version of MS headset. If you are looking for stereo sound, meaning earphones on both sides that produce game sounds, go for a TurtleBeach X11. they retail at i believe $59.99. and you can amazon them for lower. those are top quality headsets, but this will be a great stand-by when i don't want to feel alienated lol!!

You don't have to have one, but it is helpful if you want to chat with other players (like if you're playing Team Deathmatch in Modern Warfare 2). But, it's not necessary.

YES, you need atleast one. How will you be able to tell people how stupid they are online or that you just pwned them? You can't be a trash talking douche without one! It's always fun to talk about people that dont have mics because they can hear you and cant talk back. It makes you look cool to the other mic talkers. Just sayin'

If you happen to have a 2.5mm jack.
I imagine it would work if you buy a 2.5mm-3.5mm adapter.

I'm not sure how it would work since the sound and mic jacks are combined, maybe someone else will know.

You'd need a USB adapter, probably one designed to work with a cellphone headset would work with this.

You could make it work if you mod it out. you can take the power for the speaker and use a stereo adapter to solder the connection and split the ground (since im sure the unit shares grounds) and solder it then get anothrer adapter and do the same for the mic, but it's cheaper to buy a headset that is pc purposed.

Spent the morning considering it, in for one and hoping it works as a mic for my pc.
