valid solution as well, but it's not as much fun. I was trying to feed the need that nightghost had of modding.

Woot has really been helping me with the xbox. I picked up the arcade with 2 games and $50 card from walmart after seeing the deal listed on deals.woot.com. I then added an xbox live gold card for $30 from amazon.com that I saw on deals.woot.com. And I just picked up 3 of these, one for my brother and two for my Son's new xbox (my brother told me these things break easily).

deals.woot.com has become my new go to site for deals. I think woot really has something here with allowing its users to post deals. If I hadn't seen the deal posted on there for the xbox, I would have never picked up these headphones today.

In for 3 - - at least when the 3 boys break them, I'm only out $17.

Thanks Woot!

yea i watch all the sites too, but I bought this when it was posted at buy.com for $9.99 + free shipping. I would have gotten 3 if they were here first. I did the same for the gold card, I got mine in the mail today.

I have this exact head as a back up to my wireless one. I love it. It's lasted about 4 years although I have since lost the adapter and it still works great. I would recommend this to anyone looking a solid headset. Great buy as well, I think I paid 20 dollars for mine.

Ahhh i'm a sucker, went all in for 3. I tend to pickup a nice shock to the ear while using the standard Xbox headset due to my couch and its issues with static..damn microfiber..I can literally hear the charge building in the speaker and then any sudden movement gives me a nice POW shock to the lobe....I hope these handle it better...Add me up for the l4d2 nights tag: VOXul Also trying to laugh my ass off in Red Dead causing trouble!

You're very smart to have a backup head. I know I'm in big trouble if I lose mine.

I should note to those talking about the 2.5mm jack size saying it's standard - that's not the standard except on some phones. The standard 1/8" jack for headphone/microphone is 3.175mm.

And as a gamer in an FPS, I hunt with my ears. No stereo sound is a deal-breaker to me. I want to hear the direction the shot came from.

In for 3. At this price, it's a reasonable gamble on the few negative comments that appear on Amazon.

Just so there's no confusion, you're correct that 1/8" = 3.175mm, but those jacks are usually referred to as 3.5mm (the actual measurement is somewhere in between).

As far a what is standard, that depends on the device (e.g. 2.5mm is more common on cell phones, as you stated), and there has already been discussion about adapters for devices other than the Xbox controller.

Well, speaking (unfortunately) as an American, every Frys, RadioShack, and Best Buy has these listed as 1/8", especially for adapters that go from 1/4" to 1/8" as the metric system is rarely used (unless you're a serious scientist or engineer.) The 2.5mm TRS standard was just recently introduced (relatively speaking) so it is still not quite as widespread, and the main standard currently remains 3.175mm for most TRS jack devices or 6.35mm for almost every audio application/device bigger than a laptop.

NP - I'm not disagreeing, and perhaps I was confusing (even though I was trying to avoid confusion!). I meant those jacks are referred to as 3.5mm if the measurement is given in mm.

He was just saying that the common term for them is 3.5mm in metric. Just takes an adapter, a lot of cell phones come with them and can probably be repurposed to this. Just hopes it works in a mic only jack, altho I probably have a 1-2 splitter also laying around somewhere.

lol a lag switch is a way to slow your connection so that in a game someone can kill you, but you dont die because you're lagging and when you release the switch you have killed a few people and died once, or you can lag from around corners and never die MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I would never use such a device because i'm the best gamer ever(ok not really i'm horrible, but I dont cheat...on purpose)

I couldn't agree more. L4D2 is best on the PC, and on my machine I can max EVERYTHING. The difference in image quality is night and day!!! Not to mention, I love WASD + Mouse... but a controller is fun too b/c it's a little more relaxing to not have to hunch over a keyboard.

Isn't the microphone adjustable so you could switch to either side? I can't have anything over my right ear.
