My oven doesn't get that hot.

The fact that most of the recipes for planked fish/chicken include butter or other fats might affect that flash point a bit. Or a lot.

Sorry to hear you have a sub-standard oven.

Sub-standard doesn't begin to describe my oven.

I got these...didn't like them. They left an odd, unpleasant taste on the veggies.
Almost all of them are still sitting in the box.

No, just one side. The other side is plain.

In for 24!

The fact that I bought not one, but TWO of these scares me.

My grilling prowess starts with hotdogs and comes to a screeeeeeeching halt with burgers.

Guess I figured I needed some motivation to try new things

...my sister tells me I shouldn't have WOOT as my home page....she just may be right...

Thanks WOOT!

bagpiper wrote:Problem with olive oil - any vegetable oil really - is that over time it breaks down and/or goes rancid. The best stuff for seasoning wooden utencils is mineral oil. And yeah - I am serious.

Never had the "rancid" issue and have been doing this for years.

You are correct in that food-grade mineral oil is the optimal way to go. However, I use my spoons pretty much daily and only oil once in a while if they need it. Going rancid has never been an issue as they are used so frequently. There are pros who even will say to use cool water and mild soap - but my experience has been that the spoons do not last as long as that tends to dry them out. Daily, if I use a wooden spoon or cutting board, I wash it immediately with water and dry it with a towel - never leaving them to air dry. They have lasted years and years.

Email service@woot.com. As long as the product hasn't sold out, they can probably help you. No promises but odds are in your favor. Of course, you can only order 3 per account.

On the other hand, mineral oil is a laxative -

It looks like most of these have been processed and there are some tracking numbers linked up so we're probably just finishing shipping.

The magic number for the fifth business day is: 29. We should have these all shipped and tracking emailed before then.

If it doesn't show up on your My Account, then it's likely the order didn't go through for some reason. Contact service@woot.com to see if they can shed some light on this.

I did and they claim CC was denied, yet it went through in PayPal. Woot now refuses to answer my email, forcing me to do a PP dispute. Not very happy. Will defintely have to think about wooting again.

We didn't refuse to answer your email, you may want to check your spam folder. This is what we sent you:

It looks like your order was denied. This is usually caused by a discrepancy between the billing address and the address you have on your card. The PayPal charge should have been released, if it hasn't released by now contact PayPal to see what the hold up is.

You should have seen a page after completing your order indicating that your order was denied, that page will also give you potential reasons for why you were denied.
