I've bought a fair chunk (and a few from my wife's account) but I'll probably think twice about buying in the future. Especially if woot staff get on and start bashing others in the comments. Wait, are you Jeff Bezos? It's all starting to make sense now...

Amazon has now created my perfect online experience. I love Woot, and woot often. I love Amazon and I loved Zappos before they were acquired by Amazon and still do, nothing's changed. I Zappo often, too. I was an Amazon customer in the first 6 months the site was live.

Should I just send Jeff Bezos a list of my favorite online shopping experiences and have him bundle them all up for me in one tidy url?

Congratulations, Woot! Never change.

To all at Woot, congratulations! Seriously! I'm sure that most of you are completely faced right now on Boone's Farm Red and will be drunk-posting responses in the forum all night long.

To all the nay-sayers going on about how much you hate Amazon, how Woot is a sellout, and how you'll never buy anything again, truck You!

Snapster worked his monkey butt off since 2004, with a hair-brained idea to sell just one thing a day and be a smart-ass about it. We, the Wooters were stupid enough to buy his one thing a day often enough to make this the best damn site on the whole interwebs.

He earned this big sale and that's great! He created a unique and successful business that has spawned dozens of imitators, even Amazon.

I say congratulations! Drink up! Hit the West End, Deep Ellum, Greenville or all three tonight!

As a partner in a soon-to-be-startup, I have to say that Woot's irreverence is a huge inspiration and hopefully we can be as successful as you!

Now go pound some Shiner Bock!

Most consumers think Amazon is great.
But if you're ever on the B2B side of Amazon, they are not what they seem. Yea, they owe me lots of money. And I'll never get it because they are in Washington and I'm far away in a different jurisdiction. I even thought about driving down to Bezos' house in Los Angeles, but that's still too far.

Can the Woot brass clarify the Tax situation? Seriously, this is HUGE if Texans now have to pay Amazon sales tax because they will have a presence here. One of the biggest reasons I buy from Amazon on at least a monthly basis.

Seriously, does this mean that the Bowl of Cereal, Woot-Offs, etc. will remain unchanged, or will Amazon put a stop to these? If not now, how about in a month or two? How about in a couple of years? Did you get that in writing in the contract? Can we see it?

Wait, a company on the intertubes is offering to let customers give them money, with absolutely NO guarantee that anything of ANY use (or value) will actually be received other than a bag of some sort, and thousands of people throw their cash your way...

I'm only surprised you've lasted this long without a "corporate sponsor"... ;)

I wish you guys the best. It's hard not to say you've got one of the most original models - and unique approaches - to internet marketing. When literally tens of people wait anxiously for your latest writeups to appear at midnight (1:00AM EST) you know you've got a good thing going.... ;)

Having dealt with a kind of investment buyout myself, I know that the grass isn't always greener, but I believe that Amazon will have both your customers' and your employees' interests in mind. Best of luck to you all.
And Congrats!

I think this sucks. I can't see how getting purchased by a huge company can be good for customers. Lower quality, crappier service, and higher prices all come to mind when a company gets acquired. How long do you honestly think it will take Amazon to decide they need to make more money and start changing core features of Woot. I am glad for the founders not for the people who actually buy woots. I suspect woot will die like most companies that get acquired and somebody else will start a new woot called zoot or something, you know, some poor broke kids who just want to fill the nitch that was once woot, then this whole cycle will repeat itself.

Naww this won't change a thing at woot. At least not for about a week, until Matt decides to take his millions from the sellout and retire at a young age. At that point Amazon will do whatever they want with it.

Wow! What a coincidence! In my email this morning was a message that started with:

"Good Morning All -

I am very pleased to announce this morning that "Company A" has agreed to become part of "Company B". Our Board of Directors carefully considered the alternatives for our company and unanimously concluded that "Company B" offered the best opportunities for our employees, customers, and stockholders. ..."

We were also told that, "... we do not expect any adverse personnel actions as a result of this transaction."

It looks like it will be an interesting time for the Woot staff as well as for me and my coworkers.

Repeat after me:
Change is opportunity.
Change is opportunity.
Change is opportunity.
Change is opportunity.
