curious, does the "cool wave" really work or is it just a gimick to make it sound better? My biggest complaint with anything memory foam is the heat associated with it. I'm one of those peiple that sleep with the ceiling on all year round, even in the cold michigan winters... I don't like to be hot!

Edit: meant to say ceiling FAN... I typed that on my phone while laying in bed not being able to sleep last night!

jeffiekins wrote:"Memory foam" has no "bouncability" at all. Regular (latex) foam has a slight bit.

One of the selling points of these things is that one person can climb out of, or even jump on, it without "jiggling" the other person sleeping on it.

Regarding the "outgassing" issues some have mentioned, it would be a very good idea to open the package, unfold/unroll it, and let it sit in an uninhabited room with the window open for a week, or even two, before putting it on a bed you sleep on.

Same for any foam mattress or pad.

Ahh, just like the bowling ball and wine glass trick.

This is great if you have lower back pain and need a firm mattress that still gives a little. I use a 5" mattress topper made of similar material and it has been fantastic.

They are like chocolate chips. They get harder in the cold, but body heat makes them soft when you lie in it, only in the bed you don't get covered with chocolate....usually.

I have a 10" queen memory foam mattress that I got from sellout.woot. We love it. Memory foam is sooo much better than anything else I've tried (spring mattress, waterbed, pile of leaves). There also seems to be a bit of magic in the mattresses from woot, I've gotten 3 BOCs since purchasing my mattress a few months ago.

I have a memory foam pad that is 3" thick, and I sleep directly from the floor without box spring or platform. I always feel very comfortable without feeling hot as you might be concern. I was very concern with heat just like you are, especially now is summer season and I'm still not bother by heat.

I don't have the mattress, I have the 4" foam that lays on top of the mattress.

Mine cost about $300 as it is one of the best made. If this is anything like mine, these foam mattresses are life changing.

You won't get a better night's sleep with anything.

And if you want to go all out, get the best quality pillows too. The better ones cost about $100 each. The pillow "cures" any problems you may have with neck strain or pain, guaranteed.

I gave a quality foam top and pillows to my neighbor who even at 35 suffers from painful arthritis. The day after I installed the cover and pillows, she called to tell me that she felt like she died and was on her way to heaven sleeping on a cloud (her words).

This is a good deal I highly recommend it. And go to Bed, Bath and Beyond or eBay to get some foam pillows.

Super Bonus Tip: If you want to feel like my neighbor, as described above, get some quality flannel sheets. That will complete the "heavenly experience." Sorry to sound so corny, just sayin.

Some people are saying it gets too hot while others are raving. Can one of the ravers please let us know if the heat is an issue at first and you just get used to it, or do they not experience heat problems at all?

Also would really love to hear about other people having sagging problems. Seems weird that foam would start sagging in the middle like a spring mattress. Especially after only a couple of years. Would love to know more about that.

This bed DOES exist online. Before I bought one, I did a little digging at

http://www.thathomesite.com/forums/load/furniture/msg082146262516.html

turns out the company that makes these (and I'm guessing a few other off-brand mattresses) is called sleep innovations. The exact same mattress is on amazon for $400.00 + s/h

http://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-8-inch-Memory-Mattress/dp/B003CT37HY

I don't know why sleep innovations doesn't have their name on this. I tried checking their site

http://www.sleepinnovations.com/

and it looks like they might be discontinuing the 8" model (maybe trying to get away from the branding). Either way, a good 90% of the feedback was pretty positive, with a few complainers. And half the bad feedback was just that they needed a mattress cover to go with it (seems like personal firmness preference to me). Odds seemed good that this was a deal, and we've been in the market for a new mattress for months. At almost half off, this is hard to beat. In for one.

These only seem appealing if you want the feeling of being hugged all night.

I don't get why foam smushed down around my body is anymore or less comfortable that anything else. Great if you want to feel warm. I'm sure the softness feels great but it doesn't warrant the hype or prices.

I want something that holds me up, not something I sink into.

Does anyone have a rough estimate on the size of the box it comes in? I am living abroad at the moment and am coming back home for vacation. I would love to know the size so I could maybe bring it on the plane, if it is compressed in the box enough.

Fun fact: In Korea it's considered fashionable to sleep on beds made of marble slabs. Their mattresses aren't much different.

It comes in a very large, very heavy...plastic...tarp. It's not a box. You can not take it on a plane. This is not an inflatable mattress.

From the specs it is very similar to the Costco mattresses at a fraction of the cost. We own 4 Costco mattresses and we love them. We have had them for years and won't go back to the coil system. Platform beds with this mattress is totally comfortable. Great for kid with asthma and people with allergies. Very comfortable and this is a great price.

There's actually a site for that. http://www.sleeplikethedead.com/memory-foam-sex.html

Apparently you get more traction, which a slight majority enjoys.

For memory foam mattresses in general, I prefer 5 to 5.3 lb. foam.

I can't imagine it's too bad/hot. Ever slept on a heated water bed? Of course those "have" to be heated, but they never felt overly hot whenever I slept on one, which was years ago...

Do you know how much it'd cost to ship any other mattress that wasn't from Woot?

I got my 10" queen for $329 and free shipping. It comes with 5 layers too. 5" latex bottom, 2 eggcrate air flow, 2" 3.3 lb memory foam topped by 2" 5.3 lb memory foam.

It has a 20 year warranty too. It comes as a shrink wrapped roll.
You unroll it for an hour it expands.

This is my second one. But I'm a quuadriplegic. So I spend more time in bed than most people.
I bought my first one 8 years ago for around $700.

Before that I used 4" memory foam toppers.

I love them. I bought my Mom a 3" topper, but she said it left her too warm to sleep comfortly.

My last one was warm too, but with these two new layers of eggcrates let the air flow through them, it's not so bad, even in the summer.

But most memory foam beds let you have a 90 day no querstions asked warranty, to see if you like them. And at least a 10 year limited warranty on the bed.

This is not the best price, nor the best bed for the price.

Look on eBay or Amazon.

I'm in SE WI, and while I don't have a full memory mattress, I have a 2 inch topper on an inflatable mattress. I can say it worked perfectly fine during this last winter, with fleece sheets and a comforter.

During our current heat wave, it's been hot, but I use flannel sheets, so that's to be expected. I don't think the memory foam contributes that much more heat, honestly.

Sleep Innovations makes the Costco mattresses. They have changed the design a bit from a few years ago. I can vouch they are the most comfortable mattresses we have ever slept on. We slowly replaced all the coil mattresses in the house and it is such a pleasure not having a boxspring. The King size always had two twin size boxsprings that made the mattress sink in the middle. Years of horrible sleep until we tried these.

BTW.... Costco only carries twin, full and Queen. In the West Coast you may find a King but it will be a CA King. We ordered on line an Eastern King and it cost us around $800 bucks. Can't be the prices at Woot when making the comparison.

I bought one the last time they had them on in around October if I remember correctly. I was worried about getting too warm when summer rolled around but that has not been a problem. We bought a thick cotton mattress pad to lay on top of the foam mattress and have slept quite comfortably even during the hottest June on record. You won't regret this purchase!
