Grad school stuff starts next week. Definitely not feeling ready for it. My time around here has already lessoned, and I'm not even that busy yet compared to what is to come.

I'm going to bed and I'm gonna sleep until I wake up . . . and then I'm gonna sleep some more!!.

Well we didn't get out there until 6-6:30ish and by then the mosquitoes were already rampant. Before we could get sprayed up or a fire started we were getting eaten. All five of us have quite the red itchy collection. Dinner and the evening went well. Orc and I have different "camping practices" and it became apparent that we'd never camped just the two of us before. I guess we'd always been with a group. Not a big deal, but definitely stuff to improve on next time.

We didn't see any northern lights I was really looking forward to that, but we saw a ton of stars and two shooting stars so that was good. Kids stayed up WAY late and then chatted in their little tent until 11:30. Which wouldn't have been a big deal except Ver2 woke up crying at 5:30am (she'd gotten too cold). We only have one proper kids sleeping bag and Orc didn't think it would be a big deal. Guess who is going to buy another sleeping bag as soon as we can?

We did get to go on a hike and spend a lot of time "swimming" in the river. It's not a very deep or big river, and it's still very cold from being snow not so long ago. It was fun. The girls thought the fish were great. (just little smolts)

The kids were scared of a few things and other than not sleeping and then being whiny it went really well. We had a really nice neighbor across from us that was super friendly and there weren't really any problems. We might try to go again before school starts on the 1st. Maybe after t-ball.

I have more about camping that will be posted to my blog on Monday.



Just got back from school shopping. Almost entirely done. Ver1 and Ver2 got shoes last night. Today we got the stuff off the teacher's list. Still debating getting Ver1 a backpack or having her make do with one around the house, not sure if any of them are big enough for a binder/folder though. Also trying to decide what kind of lunchbox we are going to do. Thinking about bento.

i'm partial to the old-fashioned metal lunchboxes. ver1 can swing it at a stinky boy if he gives her any trouble.

Great that you took the kids camping. It was pretty well the sole vacations my family took when I was a kid and produced the best memories I have.

I could retype everything, but I'll just let you all go read it on Monday. Saves time and fingers. Of course I wrote after being out camping and not having any sleep, it might not make any sense at all.

Then again, most of the stuff I write doesn't make much sense unless you have the half that doesn't make it to the screen, but is stuck in my head.

Just played a video game for 5 hours straight. I think it's been at least 4, maybe 5, years since I've done that. I also won't be repeating that soon, but it was fun. I had to thoroughly try out my new chair.

Good morning all. Thanks for the link local for KtC's blog,I've been up for a couple of hours and it has been part of good read time.
I'm trying to find a specific citation in Texas code that forbids me from doing a certain job in a project that I have been warned that I don't want any part of. A colleague and I both agree it's there and remember reading the rule when we studied the code but can't find it. I have asked a consultant and he too remembers the same wording as I do but can't find it either. We have gone to our training provider with the hope they'll be of some help. I know I still have an out as the job as we define it is not within the parameters of our licensing but I'm concerned that with a slight wording change the powers that be, in order to save a substantial amount of money by doing this in-house, will try to circumvent the rule.
I have to tread carefully as I don't want to be tagged as "the guy" that cost them a pile of $$.
