I'm sure that at one point they were edible. Who knows how long they have been sitting in a warehouse.

The giant dispensers just dispense a whole package of pez at a time, rather than an individual candy.

Tis better to score than be scored.

Well, as I had predicted from seeing what other people with 0.4lb packages got, my Book of Crap contained the following:

11 - bags of Texas air
1 - deflated bag of Texas air
4 - Fact or Crap 2010 Desktop Calendars
3 - Roomba Virtual Walls
1 - EZ Shopper shopping bag

and lastly

1 - pair of (working) Woot! lights

The casing on one of the lights has a crack down the side, and one of them makes a clicking noise as it spins, but I'm not terribly vested in them anyway :P

I guess I don't have room to complain since I made a profit off of this thing, but I guess it would have been cool to get something that I could actually get some use out of. On the bright side, the standard is set pretty low for my NEXT Book of Crap!

Until next time!

After much patient waiting, my box arrived today! Got the obligatory 2010 calendars, shopping bag, and a Roomba wall (need to see if it works with my previously Wooted Roomba), along with a couple of USB cables.

BUT.........

NO WOOT-OFF LIGHTS!

I really wanted a set, but I guess I'll just have to wait for the next Woot-Off, hitting F5 in the dark.

Still fun... Thanks Woot!

Mine has arrived and I have the best BF ever, cuz he didn't make me wait to open it! :-)

I received:

The lights
1 shopping bag
6 Fact or Crap 2010 calendars
1 box (an 8 pack) of mini "matchbox" garbage trucks
AND - drum roll please - 1 Philips DVD/VCR Combo, complete w/cables and remote and, gosh darn it, it works! Perfect for the bedroom, says "renewed" on the back but it has a couple blemishes, so I'm guessing that's why it was deemed craptastic. It's not blueray, but I don't care!

THANK YOU WOOT!! You, as always, are Woottastic and Rock The He** on!

Edit: I cannot wait to see what the letter receiver(s) get bestowed upon them by the Woot! gods!

Edit again: 19.7 lbs

I am better than everybody else!

Exactly the same as mine.

Has anyone used the camera yet?
It says no equipment is needed to see the photos.
All my fathers pictures, and mine when I got older and borrowed the camera, are 3D.
You needed a viewfinder and eventually nobody knew how to develop them.

Is film even readily available to even try it?

They take standard 35mm film. It takes 4 pictures at once across 2 frames. The film requires special processing to make 3D. The only place I know of that does it is Snap 3D in Toronto. I believe what they produce is called lenticular photos. (I haven't actually tried it yet, seeing as I got my cameras yesterday.)

And no, after you get it developed, you don't need a viewer or glasses or some other funny gizmo.

If you don't want to send your pictures all the way to Toronto, I hear that if you take the outside 2 photos (of the set of 4), you can use them in other 3D systems (gizmos, glasses, etc).

akakin wrote:For all you new 3D camera owners, you CAN still get regular film processed. Regular meaning normal 35mm print film you buy most anywhere. The place that processes them is at http://www.snap3d.com/ Be advised it's not cheap. The camera is a four lens design and 4x6 prints will set you back $2.80 each. For 18 prints (from a 36 exposure roll), that comes out to $50.40. If you settle for using a handheld viewer, you can get those, but you will need to use slide film.

Grumble, grumble, grumble.
Can't get them to send it to me, once it has been returned to sender, according to USPS. Word from woot support is that I will receive a replacement. That seems like trying to change my destiny. I was destined to receive that 23.1 lb. Bacon Oil Crunchers. Somebody over there just finger-faulted a couple of digits off my house number, so it got redirected back to them. I appealed to turn it back around once it reaches their offices, so I get the Box Of Chianti that God intended.

Looks like I get to be last to open my goodies this time.

I received my Woot! Off lights a few days ago, much to the delight of my 5 and 7 year old kids.

My 5 year old decided he had to make a "Police Castle" and recruited my 7 year old for some artistic assistance. They made the below completely by themselves. I got quite a kick out of it...

Thanks Woot! and Happy Birthday!

Well, I missed out the camera in box of cereal. Actually, I was surprised that they forgot to put the lights in mine. But that's not important.

The pictures from this camera are printed on paper that has a lenticular screen covering it. This is the stuff that you see on some cards that you can tilt left and right and see different images. It does work, but you get little vertical ridges on the print.

The good news is that it takes virtually any 35mm film. The bad news is there is only one place left that develops it, and it costs $2.80 per print. That's painful.

But I still wanted one of these to try out. (I used to do a lot of 3D and darkroom work). When you take the picture, it actually produces four images on the film. But, here's the trick to make your camera sort of useful.

Use slide film. Tell the process folks to NOT mount the slides. Just get the roll back. For each of the four pictures, cut off the far left and far right images. Place them into 3D slide holders. You can get those for about $4 for 30 of them. Then, you can place that in a viewer (check ebay for 35mm 3D viewers. They are there). Then you get decent images. Better than the old viewmaster reels because the film is bigger.

If you really want, you can use B&W film and make small prints from the outer two images. Those can be placed on a card and placed in the old style 3D viewers you see from the early 1900s. That works too.

Can it work? Yeah. Worth it? Your call.
