I had buyers remorse the second I got my email confirmation. Don't always assume woot gives you a great deal... Lesson learned...

gotmyorangecrush wrote:This has to be one of the worst deals I have seen thus far from Woot. Amazon has these for 145.00 and Woots price is 130.00 w/ shipping. The problem is Woot is offering refurbished units. Sorry but 15.00 savings is not worth going from a brand new unit to a refurbished unit.

These are definitely very cool if your interested in self portraits but beyond that the 2nd screen is pretty useless and would do nothing but eat away battery life.

Sorry Woot but just not a good deal at all. Should have been closer to 99.00 refurnished.

Woot has sucked a bit since they hooked up with Amazon. Todays kids.woot is pretty awesome though!

I see your pictures as having excellent quality. I am pretty flabergasted that you would share all those personal pics with all and anyone here at Woot. I have been a member a long time and I think their are some pretty "shady" characters who should not have access to them. You would edit the post ASAP The post by the wooter just after yours is a great example of what kind of meatheads are here.

That would be an interesting theory if the deal were even finalized yet.

Sigh.

This camera is just 'OK'. However, I'm not the sort of person to take loads and loads of self portraits. (If I did, I'd use a higher quality camera anyway.) It's not quite as reliable as other cameras, the flash compensation on it is preeetty bad otherwise the pictures come out more or less clear in good lighting. Don't buy it and expect the image quality to be fantabulistic. You can get a better picture from other cameras, for this price, but with FAR less perks. You pay for touch screen and that front screen display.

Samsung are still wiggling out their spot in the camera industry. There's problems, definitely, but the TL220 has helped them carve out a niche for themselves.

Can someone explain what all the different storage options mean?
----

Most cameras these days use SD or SDHC. (Secure Digital or Secure Digital High Capacity) These are memory cards, which store the pictures and videos you make with your device.

This camera, however, uses Micro SDHC. This is the tiny memory card you often see people put in their cell phones. It's a bit of a hassle to purchase one of these - because hardly any computers or printing stations use them directly. You have to connect the Micro SDHC into an adapter in order to, say, take it to CVS/Walgreens/Walmart to print.

The maximum Micro SDHC capacity of 8GB is a hassle, too. Since this camera does HD video, it would be convenient to buy larger memory cards for it. But nope, nope. You're stuck with 8gb per memory card and perhaps carrying some easy-to-lose spares about.

I have to say I agree with all of the above. I own this camera, and truthfully the pictures aren't the greatest, and I almost never use the self-portrait feature, personally. I would have kept my Canon that took much nicer photos if it hadn't been for the zoom lens locking up within 6 months. The pictures, while the camera still worked, were far superior on the cheaper Canon camera.

Hard to say. Mozilla and Opera have thrown in with the Orgg/Vorbis/Theora crowd, while Apple just loooooooves them some H.264, and Google supports both with Chromium (and therefore Android). Now Microsoft, well .... um...... IE plays Flash!

Like I said I just call em like I see em and as you yourself stated, my points are fair. If that makes me a jerk then so be it. At times, that's the price of calling them like you see them. Bottom line his post was just basically the pure definition of ignorance. Self portraits have always been and most likely always will be an extremely important genre in the arts. His opinion of them is inconsequential especially in regards to this camera.

As for getting off my high horse, no thanks. The view is much better from up here!!

Uh, what exactly do you mean by this? Are you saying you got the wrong model, and if so, can you tell us which one? The model number for this camera (TL220) appears on the top of the device.

Otherwise, you may have received the correct camera but you must note that the front display is off by default. You will have to go through the menus and turn it on.
