I don't know if anyone is still reading this post as the item was from Sundsy, August 7th (Gateway Netbook)! But, I just don't know where to go for help! On Aug. 12th received shipping notice with track number and 5 days later Fed Ex STILL says "NOT FOUND". Wrote Woot service ... message back gave same tracking number and said wait 24 to 48 hours! Just checked and still "Not Found". Wrote Woot emails and just get the automated reply. Someone on the board told me to "lighten up" .. I would like to but I'm so frustrated that I can't get any info and there may be a mixup in shipping. Five days since first got track number and Fed Ex still has no record of the shipment! Anyone have any ideas for me!! Please help!! Thanks!! Betty0076

This is a public forum and you are having a private problem. Please address your issues with Woot directly as they cannot help you on this forum, they will work with you directly.

I have not received my laptop either, granted I have a valid tracking number. You are not the only one still waiting! If it makes you feel any better mine will not get here until tomorrow.

You are starting to clutter up the forum with your repeated postings! One was enough after that relax and work with woot! Try the "write us" link at the top of the page.

Betty, I really do understand your frustration.

That said, keep trying to get Woot customer service involved. You will have to tell them to stop sending you the same info and do something concrete.

It could be that FedEx simply didn't scan the package as they picked it up, but it will still arrive.

It could be that the package never made it to FedEx for whichever reason.

I would give Woot a business day to get working on this, and if your package is lost, and Woot has no more of the netbooks, you will just have to get a refund.

Sorry

I am trying to be patient!! At least I found out that there are others (you) who have not received their netbook! But as you say, at least you have a valid tracking number ... 10 days after ordering, mine still says "Not Found" If someone can assure me that it will be shipped I can wait!! I have ordered many, many things from Woot, even a $600 dollar computer and never had a problem like this!! Just wish there was a way to contact someone at Woot who would take an interest and not keep saying, that it takes a while to get tracking info!! Talked to Fed Ex and they have no record of the shipment!!! If you don't like my posts, please report me and maybe that will bring attention to my concern!!

Mine just arrived and I did a quick Anytime Upgrade to Windows Home Premium with no problems. My 2GB RAM should arrive tomorrow.

Seems like a really sweet little machine for the price. I could have used three of them.

Got Mine! Woot! (Black) Pristine condition, molding imperfection on the cover. Testing to see if everything works. I'll check battery life later. Haven't found a flaw yet. The velcro holding the cord together had a few strands of dog hair on it. I imagine this is a return by someone who owned a white poodle. Some pillow fuzz too. That is the only indication it's ever been handled. Old Sherlock here.

Gonna order some Ram now. Looks like Crucial 666 is the way to go. Waiting for updates on the decoder success. Great Woot so far.

Actually I'm not sure I need more Ram for my use. Gonna play with it a while first.

Got my black one today after a failed attempt by FedEx Home to deliver to the office on Saturday.

I can confirm that the card reader can handle SDHC - there were some questions about that earlier in the comments.

Upgraded to 2GB through the Patriot Amazon deal and it had no problems recognizing it (PC2 DDR2 667 Mhz).

Question: Has anyone figured out how to create and/or copy the restore data to a USB flash drive or External HDD as opposed to a CD/DVD?

Mine has a huge scrape on it, like someone used a large screwdriver to open the front of it. It is also "Grade C" refurbished, which I've never seen before. That indicates cosmetic issues.

I can't get it to boot up, it seems to only run with the screen closed. Once I open the screen, it shuts off.

Anyone have a similar issue?

It wants an optical drive. I backed up a Toshiba on SDHC 8GB media. I wonder if updating the software will help.

Now we know why USB DVD burners are still so expensive. SD had a Memorex DVD burner for about $32 last I looked.

I tried a new blank 8GB SDHC and the 'puter still wants optical backup. No Go.

For what it's worth Bimmer my cover has a crease that appears to be a molding defect, but it's only visible if you have the 'puter lying flatand looking off a low angle at the top. Works fine except for the SDHC backup issue.

BTW mines the black one.

You might try Jolicloud. I am.

Mine arrived today. It is powering itself off after a few minutes. Doesn't matter if plugged in or on battery.

Read the warranty and read the FAQ. Says I am stuck with having to pay to ship it back either to woot or the manufacturer.

This may be my first and last woot purchase, if it costs me to get a broken product.

Emailed rma at woot, so I will see what they have to say.

I bought this so i could have a computer handy in my wood shop, as well as just for being out and about. Boyfriend was initially annoyed with the purchase, but once he got his hands on it he begrudgingly agreed it was a pretty sweet deal.

Installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix via virtual drive. Win7 and Linux are coexisting pretty happily so far. Everything seems to be supported on UNR. Cosmetically the netbook is in great condition, except for some slight bubbling near the webcam.

I was not happy that WildTangent came installed. I also got rid of all the "free trials" and replaced them with open source/free stuff lie AVG and OpenOffice.

Haven't yet tested for things like Autodesk Inventor and games. Even if it ends up not being able to do fancy stuff like CAD, it'll still be a great reference PC. It's very quick for having a 1GB RAM stick, so I might just wait a little longer before upgrading. It's really not that bad out of the box.

Anyway, thanks, woot! It was a long wait, but you didn't disappoint.

i am confused, when i use my netbook it says it only has 4hrs and 30min left at 100% battery life even on power saver. how am i able to get the full 7 hour battery life? do i have to turn wireless off along with my screen in order to get it?

I'm quite impressed by the black unit. Of course it took forever to uninstall all the pre-installed stuff just so I can install the stuff I really want. I wish there was a startup option on new systems that allowed you to check what you wanted and uninstall/don't install the rest.

I just received mine today (red one). And I'm having problem with mine. The screen isn't working, if i touch the back or the side of the screen, half the of screen goes black. Or if i flip the screen even just slightly, it starts to flicker and part of the screen goes dark. Seems like i got a bad LCD or bad connection. Anyone else is as lucky as me?? This sucks!

bimmerbill

quality posts: 0 Private Messages bimmerbill

Aside from the huge scrape in mine, it DOES NOT work.

If I move the screen it will shut off.

It shuts off halfway thru the boot cycle. The only way it will stay on is if I hold it and point it toward the floor.

As soon as I put it down it powers off.

I get the "Windows did not shut down properly" error.

Betty076,

You probably should initiate a charge-back with your credit card company. Or at least get them to intervene on your behalf with Woot.

My own order was just the same as everyone else's... Five days until processed/shipped and Fedex Ground delivery. An attempt at delivery was made yesterday-- but no one was home.

I think everyone here can understand your frustration, but I'd really go the CC way to assist with your issues.

My netbook came yesterday and while it looks pretty it will not boot. Keeps blowing up during startup, even in Safe Mode. The last driver it loads is CLASSPNP.SYS and then the screen fritzes out. This is the first problem I've had with a Woot purchase - does this sound like an RMA situation?

Well, isn't that special...

I just opened mine (and it looks great... I am waiting to charge the battery). But I do build my own computers and for my friends/family as well...

Driver issues upon boot (even in Safe Mode) can indicate some type of hardware failure... Or a faulty install of Windows.

-If you are proficient with computers-- you can boot off a Live Linux install on a USB drive. If that boots and runs- it's most likely a Windows issue.
-If you aren't, or don't have a friend who is- it'd be easier to RMA it.

Here is a quick way to get a friendly linux distro on USB to test.

Live USB stick

I recommend the KDE live CD, but that is due to KDE having a nice netbook interface integrated.

Step 2b has the windows installer.

I really like the openSUSE option you can download the CD image and burn or you can make the same CD image a bootable USB disc.

Jolicloud is easy to install. I only gave it about 20GB drive partition. Just follow the simple instructions and it will set up configured for your computer. You do need to open up like a facebook or other account. It's trivial, just make up a name. Don't forget your sign-in and pword. Jolicloud runs a nice dualhead display. It sets up dual boot for you. The whole process is so simple "A cave man could do it."

It's funny the "System Monitor" shows the N450 as a dual core but this aint so. Jolicloud is at version 1 now and is very stable on the three laptops I have tried it on. If you have need updates they are all automatic.

I'll be playing around with it more this afternoon. I am now looking into some other flavors of linux too. Just starting that though.

So, how is that decoder working guys????

Anyone figure out how to back up the system to SDHC yet? I have a bunch of cards.

Question: So is this netbook b/g/n or just b/g? I only have a g router a present...

RAM and decoder upgrade went perfectly. I made sure the system was working first. Everything was fine with my system, black with almost perfect exterior.

I powered down and removed the battery. The ram was dead simple, decoder was a little more difficult as I needed to remove the wires connecting wifi to the antenna. It took no more than 5 minutes to do both and the process was very easy. Rebooted and installed drivers for decoder card.

I had only a single 720P MKV file which played fine at about 20-30% processor usage. Everything seems to be working fine with my machine. Have yet to test the battery as I have been at work all day.
