How can something look like that and not have built-in audio or video playback? Just the appearance makes me want one!

Will this power my regular laptop? I don't see why it wouldn't if it can power a netbook, but they were strangely specific in naming the things you can use it with so now I'm concerned.

8000 mAh is quite a lot of juice. This'll recharge any cell phone with a standard capacity battery at least 4 times (smartphones like the Evo 4G and iPhone 4--normal phones will get way more use from this).

My only complaint is that this is rechargable but not solar-powered. While it has considerably smaller battery capacity (1600 mAh, enough for one full smartphone recharge and change), the Freeloader Pro )http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/travelpower/beb8/ draws power quite efficiently from the sun, so it's only the sale price with no electrical bills tacked on later. Besides, with solar power to add to the battery capacity, you could theoretically get way more battery life from it than this Energizer pack.

I have the bigger brother 18Ah and it works like a charm on everything... just gives me trouble at the airport though as its such a dense battery. This one should be ok as its roughly 1/2 the density in the same size.

The Amazon reviews are good, but this isn't the model for laptops. Maybe that one will be tomorrow, knowing how woot works. Get good reviews at the mother site. Well, 2 reviews. The laptop version gets real good reviews.

"can be charged up to 500 times" means it's going to cost you .08 cents a charge, actually it's .09 cents a charge if you include the shipping. Are these expenses you can afford in this day and age? If not, please reconsider your purchase. thanks.

Got one of these last time they were out. The "Up to 3 hours extra time on netbooks" is, shall we say, optimistic. I got about an hour on my Wooted Acer.

One reason is that netbooks usually are set to go into power miser mode when running of batteries. But to the netbook this looks like an external power brick, so it goes into high power mode, unless you mess with the config.

Even allowing for that, three hours? No way.

There's no such thing as a free tip.

From an Amazon Reviewer:
"I had to order a "Free" tip, for which I was charged $12.95 "shipping". My tip arrived, with $1.39 in postage stamps attached. $12.00 for?"

Also, would this be able to handle my MacBook Pro? Something tells me they wouldn't give me a tip for that, despite the 8000mAh exceeding my Mac's fully charged battery by about 2500mAh.

Nope! Sorry, the sale has ended. We launch new products every night at midnight Central time. I'd recommend checking out the FAQ. It's likely we'll sell them again sometime, so stick around!

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

You could look your regular laptop up via the tip finder to see if there's any possibility of a socket match before checking wattage.

This won't drive a conventional laptop with a dead battery. Max at 19V is only 2A, which is 38W. I have several laptops, and even my ultra low power Toshiba is a 45W system.

That doesn't make it "bad" because at 2A it can recharge the battery in the laptop. The battery in one of my laptops is 4.4Ah (4400mAh), so ...

Well there should be an easy way to switch between high performance and battery saving quite easily. I know all asus netbooks have their own software that does this which you can also control manually. However I agree that something like this will not give you a full battery charge and may not be the best option if you need a lot of computer time without an outlet. If you are using a netbook it should be cheap to buy a 2nd OEM battery anyway.

These seem a great device to have on the road for emergencies. Remember the CNET guy (sorry, forgot his name) who died on an Oregon road, in the snow. His wife and child survived, but he died when he went for help.

They said his cell phone lasted a couple days but then the battery went out. Seems to me if anyone travels in the snow to go skiing or in the mountains (like my GF did going from San Francisco to Utah) this belongs in the emergency kit (along with food bars, water and NRC Space Blankets).

And also a need for the home, here in earthquake country.

In for two since I know if I don't get em I will need them.

It's really tempting but like someone else who already made the comment, I am concerned about whether or not it will work on a Mac Book Pro. It specifically says netbook and iPad but doesn't mention any of the Mac Books. Also, I got a very similar one of these for Chanukah and they didn't make a micro usb tip for my android phone. They do make the tip for the Droid Incredible but not the Droid Aris. It doesn't say in the description what phones it supports and because the one I got doesn't support my Android I wonder if this one does. I need it more for my laptop than my phone anyway.
