silversalute wrote:I almost didn't score the Beautiful Ocean Cabana this time. My manager walked into my office a short time before and we were discussing threading, delegates, and event handling when the Baggie of Cthulhu buy screen popped up. I deftly turned to my machine and nodded at the appropriate times while he continued talking and I quickly entered my security code and pressed the "gold button." I mentally returned to the discussion while watching my screen with my peripheral vision for the "stupidly large button" to appear. Ta da! I smoothly grabbed my mouse and clicked it. I was then able to turn my full attention back to the topic at hand knowing full well that the Woot! gods reward finesse and subterfuge during the acquisition of a Beautiful Ocean Cabana. And sure enough, when the conversation ended and I was able to check the status of the order, I had another Beautiful Ocean Cabana.

I salute you, sir. You get the Peter Gibbons Seal of Approval. You didn't happen to be eating Cheetos at the time, did you? That would definitely be worth bonus points.

Nope - that number is total number of woots sold. In most cases people have an option of choosing 1, 2 or 3 - so it makes sense. With the BoC, though, we all get 3 - so you divide the total woots sold by the 3 that everyone got.

The number shown is the amount of BoC's sold. Before when you had to choose the number there were a heck of a lot more than there are now. Just look at this past one:

http://www.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=980917

Had 7500 if you divide that by three you get 2500 which is pretty darn close to what we are getting now Now everyone is defaulted to 1 if you read the buy screen but they give everyone 3 because the servers crashed.

If you look at your order, you ordered 1 Random Crap wich contains 3 craps.

It's kid of like two-for-Tuesday...Even though you get 2, you only ordered it once.

what is better. The feeling when you actually score the Baggie of Cthulhu (I actually yelled in the office), the anticipation of watching the package size and shipping information, and hearing what others are getting, or the actual delivery?

Actual delivery, in my experience, is usually the least-exciting part. They don't call it crap for nothing. But I always figure it this way: the adrenaline rush when the bag pops up and you successfully click through the screens (and remember your security code correctly!) and the waiting/reading/tracking--all for less than the price of a movie--makes it all worthwhile.

Oh, that is easy, it's the feeling at the exact moment of scoring. The wait for weight just builds stress, and no matter the size you are reported you will be unsure if you are happy with it. Hearing what others are getting is simply peeling the scotch tape to get a look at a Christmas present. And finally receiving the bloated old captain yields a Scotty action figure, a flower pot, and some old toe nails. So, in summary, savor the moment...savor the moment.

More likely, simply due to west coast being closer to Woot servers, they have more of an advantage in purchasing...Sad but true!

I disagree...if you look at the spreadsheet, the lowest order number is 309980xx and the highest number is 310009xx the difference is 2900. Which is very close to the 2956 that woot said they sold. Not to mention 2956 is not evenly divisible by 3. So there were a total of 8868 total craps sold, just everyone was forced to by 3.

I agree so much. The stuff is usually crap - Woot doesn't try to make you think otherwise. But, both the actual purchasing of and waiting for the package are worth the $8. You can easily pay $8 for a crappy value meal - but, ANYONE can have a value meal. Not everyone gets a Baggie of Cthulhu. So, there's that. The exclusivity adds to the popularity and so on and so on.

And, you know, sometimes the stuff you get is actually great, even if it isn't a big screen TV or big ticket item. You just never know.

And, not knowing is well worth $8. Even if the payout is a broken Sansa and a cord with no use.

It's any password you want it to be. Make it up. Then you have to click the text below the name/PW and enter the numbers/letters that come up. The Submit button will be enabled after that.

THE HOLY CRAP COMMANDMENTS v3.0

I. Thou shalt expect nothing beyond ONE bag of some kind and THREE crappy items.
II. Thou shalt not whine and complain when some people’s crap turns out to be nicer than yours.
III. Thou shalt take a moment to consider whether you might be better off just not buying this crap.
IV. Thou shalt not expect better crap just because things are different this time. Crap is crap.
V. To paraphrase Stephen Stills, shalt thou not get the crap you want, want the crap you get.

That shirt is a rare collector's item. The only people who have one are those lucky enough to get them in their Baggie of Cthulhu's a coupe of Woot Off's ago.
If it was ever offered for sale it'd would sell like crazy.

I believe I've seen it for sale during woot-offs before (~year ago)...I also was unable to get one as it sold almost as quickly as BOCs do!

+1 on the Baggie of Cthulhu for me too! I managed to login and purchase one this time around, boom!!!

Can we add to the wootsack site the people, like me, that actually used the coupon code from woot on this and scored? I am just curious as to how many actually used it and scored and also if anyone tried but didn't make it fast enough.
