I would guess that since they are no part of Amazon you will now have to pay sales tax on any order. If you live where Amazon has a location of some sorts.

as per - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468512

taxes should be applied to - "Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax."

and Texas since Woot's HQ is there

Nope... Amazon and North Carolina do not get along at all. A year or so ago north carolina decided that because amazon associates were based in north carolina that amazon should collect nc sales tax... so amazon just dropped every one of their NC associates. Now NC has taken amazon to court trying to get them to release what every NC resident has purchased so they can tax us. I hate NC government.

I'm in Kentucky and didn't have to pay tax on my order. I do when I order directly from Amazon, though.

Barrel of Concubines, honey, I really feel like we've hit a roadblock in the communication part of our relationship.

Yes, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Where have you been the last seven days? I mean, you hit me up for money, and like a good guy, I send it, but then you disappear for a week straight! You promised you would use that money to come home to me. You promised!

What? What has that got to do with anything? Of course I find you attracti...I mean, I think I do. No, I'm not worried that you've put on a bunch of wait. In fact, I'm actually really hoping you have. No, that doesn't make me weird. The thing is, sweetie, you know how they say that beauty is on the inside? Well, the chances are good that your insides are filled with nothing but crap.

Shhhh, it's ok. Look, let's not fight, alright? Just come on home to me. Come on home and we'll sit down on my nice cozy couch, I'll get a little knife, cut you open, and see what's really inside.

Of course I'm speaking metaphorically, dear.

I believe they are waiting until everything else ships from the Woot-Off. Then they'll sweep the warehouse and dump the leftover trash and call it - BAC.

Woot just moved part of their operations to Seattle, so they now have to charge WA tax.

For what it's worth, yesterday I received one of my Woots around noon and received the shipping email for the item, around 5. I bought 10 Woots and have tracking emails for 7 of them. Hubby bought 5 and has 1 tracking email.
So Woot's full of surprises today. I imagine that the 3 day Woot-Off really has Woot shipping jumping.

No tax here in Oregon...on anything. We're one of only two states left with no sales tax whatsoever.

Of course, our economy is tanking and our property tax is ridiculous, but I don't have to do math when I buy things! Woohoo!

Laurel. We moved into town from King several years ago, and looked at a cute house on Holland first, but we decided on Laurel instead (I'm glad). We don't get the Mr. B smell! That's probably a good thing.

We appreciate you for that, and actually, it's a main argument against imposing a sales tax. We get a lot of cross-border sales from WA and CA. People come over here and load up on a whole car of groceries or, better yet, buy a whole car!

Although I've heard that Washington is or will be imposing a law that allows them to tax you for a new car purchase once you register it in their state.

Jaunt on down to the Newberg Fred Meyer electronics department! I'll sell you something shiny!

lehrdude wrote:I guess you can't double the tax to figure out how much to tip...?

I have a tip calculator on my phone. Plus, it's easy to pull 15% from a solid number. If the total is $24.72, I just add 15% of $24 and then round up the change to the next nearest dollar.

That is, assuming they earn a tip. I've never worked food service and, as a result, I can be a little strict in my tipping standards. I've worked retail for 5 years and have never been allowed to accept tips, but I put in far more work than some waiters. The way I see it, assuming it's not terribly busy, after my order is taken and my food is served, all the waiter has to do is keep my drink refilled. If my glass sits empty for more than five minutes (again, assuming it's not an obviously busy night), the tip goes out the window.
