I'm wondering about these... is each little ball magnetized to where I can pull this apart and piece it back together, or is it like a puzzle where some are negative charged and some positive, etc.

I'm actually really wanting to know because if they are individual balls it would be quite interesting for an experiment.

You're having problems because we don't allow images in signatures for those with no purchases. We had some spamming issues. Not sure how long this image will stay before it gets eaten too.

I have had these for 8 months and I still can't get them into the original cube no matter how many times I watch the video tutorial. It is imposssibleeee. My advice to purchasers today, enjoy that original cube while you still have it.

These are fun as The Strangers (2008)though.

Hmm....

I would say "cheaper on Amazon" - but isn't Woot technically Amazon too now? How odd.

Edit: Yes, I know, woot is cheaper by $2 -- but really, saving $2 doesn't feel like a woot deal to me.

They are the weaker of the neodymium magnets but for their size they have decent strength. They are N35 grade.

A fascinating man (heard him speak in college)!

If you're going to order these, do yourself a favor and order 3. I have a set and I quickly realized that I need THOUSANDS more of them or MY LIFE WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE.

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not screaming, like the people in his car.

Ok, I'm in. I was just commenting on a set of these at deals.woot. This is a good price for two sets.

You can get them cheaper on ebay, but they're of unknown quality. Buckyballs and Zen Magnets are both pretty nice.

My wife bought me a set of these (this specific brand) last Christmas. Best present I've gotten in a long time. They are tremendously fun to play with.

Keep them away from kiddos and animals though, as eating a few will be disastrous for your health.

Fantastic geek gift. I've got 3 sets now, one more on the way from China, and I'm buying a couple of these. The more you get, the more things you can build. It's like magical legos.

You act like there's a dichotomy between "addictive magnetic fun" and "fatal intestinal blockages".

Why not both? Can't an adult get in touch with their inner child?

The problem with having this as an office toy is when you work with hard drives. Oops, I just killed everything.

That said, I'm just an intern. In for one [two].

each are magentized and in fact one ball is strong enough to support the weight of all the other 215. However they do have polarity so if you chain them in a string a pearls, they will stick to one end and repel the other.

REVERSING the polarity in strands is the key to getting the balls to stick to each other in a flush pattern as opposed to a pyramid/brick pattern.

Ok, instant Quality Post time.

You can use these to build an ulta-chic credit card holder for the Overspender in your life. Your bank account, at least, will thank you.

Also, they forgot to warn you not to *taunt* Buckeyballs. That's very important.

Ugh, RARELY do i comment on woot, but "Bucky Balls" stole this model from www.neocube.com. Bucky Balls are made of lower quality and the coating wears off MUCH faster, making them more toxic to pets and children. Please, if you have pets or small children, read up on the dangers of these. It's worth it to spend the extra dollar on "Neo Cube," which is essentially the same thing.

As far as I can tell, each ball has its own dipole; if you rotate different configurations, they will "stick" together differently. . .

They inherently have each pole on each magnet.

+/- side to all spheres.

No. When the warning includes the word "intestines," I know this toy is too dangerous for me. Got any lawn darts back there instead?

This is a great deal. I paid 30 bucks at Urban Outfitters for 1 set, and it's the greatest office toy of all time. This is a true 2 for 1 deal, price wise.

You can make a chain and hold the last one to hold them all.

They react to each other from 6 or more inches away.

I have these. I love them. I paid more than this for 1 set. I should buy 6 more sets, but the wife will kill me.

Each are individual magnets, which means a positive and a negative pole. And just so you know, mankind has yet to discover magnetic monopoles, if they exist at all, which is the only way you'd get magnets with just a single positive or negative charge.

As far as scientists have discovered, all magnets have both a north and south pole. If you can find a magnetic monopole, you will win the Nobel prize in physics and probably have the tools to rule the world.
