they will cling to the fridge like nothing youve ever seen before. you could throw them at the fridge from 20 feet away and they would stick where they land

This is a lie. I have a set of these, and have used my credit card (without thinking) to pry them apart. It still works fine.

You know those desk toys with the balls hanging by threads and you pick up the one on the end and let it swing down and the energy travels through all the balls in the middle and sends the one on the other end flying? I'm going to use buckyballs to make those desk toys and watch people try to figure out why they're so incompetent at desk toys.

Anyone know the difference between these and Neocube?

Do'h! There's the answer right below my post.

It's worth it to spend the extra dollar on "Neo Cube," which is essentially the same thing.

Well, that's not the site you meant to link to, but even after tracking the correct one down, I'm not impressed. Awful site layout, expensive, and for what? Even if these do lose their luster, a little chromium is barely toxic.

I would say "cheaper on Amazon" - but isn't Woot technically Amazon too now? How odd.

Edit: Yes, I know, woot is cheaper by $2 -- but really, saving $2 doesn't feel like a woot deal to me.

Well I bought 6. I'm sure those will be gone at Christmas time. Also Rolling Stones Toy of the Year.

I can attest that Bad Things have happen from swallowed magnets. They stick together and any bowel in between gets tiny necrotic spots and perforates...big trouble X 2.

One magnet is no problem, but who can eat just one?

That said, the joy of putting them out randomly on a table a few inches apart and rolling a few in to muck up the stability is way up there.

These always remind me of that scene in X-men 2. Where Magneto yanks all the iron out of the dude.

I'd imagine thats what it would be like if you swallowed a whole set.

TO H#Ll WITH YOU AND ALL YOUR COMMENTS. I AM REALLY ANGERED.

BASED ON WHAT YA ALL SAID I WENT IN FOR THREE AND NOW I AM GOING TO HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO MY GF WHAT I HAVE DONE.

I know, I know, grow a pair, but you should see all the Woot boxes I have. My GF goes ballistic every time she sees me bring home a box that says "Woot" all over it.

Note to Woot: Can you please NOT send these in a Woot box. And it would be swell if you slapped a label on it that says "Medical Supplies."

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

P.s. If you can't do this for me, can you at least include instructions and illustrations that will make her think it's some type of "pleasuring" device. ;)

They'll stick. Quite well, actually.

You can hold the entire block of 216 suspended from a single ball.

They're plenty strong.

Make sure you wash them. Dozens of hours of play from twice as many grubby hands makes for some pretty greasy balls.

Also, buy multiple sets. Preferably twenty seven, so you can make the SUPER MEGA CUBE.

Trust me, you're going to fantasize about doing this.

If I didn't have tiny children, I'd buy 6 of these in a heartbeat...I saw these at a game store last week and was completely captivated. However, I'd rather my children live to be old enough to play with them. Maybe I should buy a few and put them away for a few years.

Here's a little known use for magnets: Prevent corrosion inside your water heater; a magnet placed on the freshwater intake pipe catches damaging metallic calcium particles before they can get inside.

If you have pets or small children, you want to keep ANY small magnets away from them, including Neocubes. If they swallow more than one, things could get ugly in the intestines.

For those of you who own neocube and add buckyballs to the mix-they are slightly different sizes, and once mixed never make nice shapes again. They can be separated but slowly and tediously--all 432 of them. Watched my son do this-took a loooong time. Just saying...

I don't understand this new math they teach kids, you get 216 magnets that are overcoated from that site for 22 and whatever their shipping cost is, you get a total of 432 magnets from woot for 33.
