But you can buy skins with armbands for them.

For $1.99 you can get a belt clip, case and a arm band at buy.com.

belt clip, case, and arm band

Oooh.. That would totally work! Thanks!

This depends on the quality of your music. Best guess is 250 songs per gig so a little less than 1000 songs on this device if you splurge on 128bit-rates

Ditto.

Do **NOT** install the Sandisk Software. Just get this. It is MUCH better, more reliable, and easy to use.

Sandisk makes great hardware, but this software (which they actually paid somebody else to write) is simply terrible. It cannot even convert an XviD format. The Google software just works.

Note for the Google software: Add ":vol=3" at the very end of the command string, right after ":br=128" to give the audio of your movies a little boost. You do NOT need this for YouTube videos, but you will probably need this for ripped DVDs.

Meh.

2 for the kids. Thank you woot for the early Christmas gifts. Will a class 4 sdhc card be fast enough for video? Will probably put 16gig cards in them.

i got one of these from woot a while ago and i've never been happier with a product. everything you want out of an mp3 player at a fraction of the cost. plus you don't have to worry about looking like a stupid hipster.

I can't find the manual for mine, but I'm pretty sure it will support any micro sdhc card, with no size limitation.

Do I have to use their subscription to download music onto the Sandisk Sansa Fuze 4GB Media Player?

Sweet MP3 player. The included earbuds are junk and hurt your ears, but hey... what do you want for free? :-)
That being said, this is MUCH better than the cheap Chinese crap I used to buy off eBay. That stuff would always break within a few days/weeks. This is great. You might want to go to Amazon and get a hard shell for it, though. Usually the hard shell comes as a "kit" with an extra data cable, a car charger adapter, and an A/C charger adapter. All for under $6. :-) Here's a link to one place on Amazon to get the kit -- http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Sansa-Charging-Protective-Covering/dp/B001SI7NIK/ref=pd_cp_e_3

Can't beat this deal, though! If I didn't already have one, I'd get one.
Woot support is great! My wife's stopped working a few months after we got it, and when I emailed Woot, they sent me a new one, no questions asked!

No problem using it with a Mac. I download stuff from emusic.com all the time, and then with burning CDs to iTunes, I make sure to burn to MP3 and not MP4. Just drag the folders onto the Sansa.

I use it to transfer music files to my PC at work as well. It's just a little 2 GB so I got an 8GB card for it.

Sound is much better than iPod and the interface is not too bad. The recording function is great, I use it for interviews now because the sound quality is much higher than my voice recorder. The radio reception is good even for my favorite community station at the left of the dial and it makes good recordings off radio, super easy.

I may need to get another one for a backup but guess I'll wait and hope the 8 GB comes round again.

This is, IMO, about the best small MP3 player around. It's pretty much the perfect audiobook player too. I'd sooner have one of these than an iPod, any day.

Among other things, an internal ferrite loopstick antenna for AM would double the size, at least... For FM, the headphone cable does double duty as an FM antenna; for AM, the headphone cable would need to be about 190 feet long (for a quarter-wavelength antenna at 1600 KHz).

I ordered two of these a year ago for about $10 more a piece. Both still work well. If you're on the fence:

Good player if you're looking for a bargain, it has great battery that lasts through most flights, the folder system is pretty easy to organize stuff in, micro SD card slot, nice looking in shiny black.

On the other hand, if you are hard on these things, i.e. throw them around, yank the headphones out of the unit, it's probably not going to hold up that well. It isn't the loudest unit and I found the FM reception marginal in the gym (compared to my Zen).

The units definitely benefit from better headphones, being kept in a case, and carefully inserting and removing the headphones. For the money they're a helluva deal- even if you bought two in the event one broke :p

Lotsa stuff...

It is my unofficial understanding that the headphones alone are worth this Woot! price.

I cannot deny or confirm the previous statement because there is no way I share headphones with the persons that revealed this information to me.

Videos work fine. I play 'em all the time on my Sansa 4gb.

icarryapara wrote:I purchased the 2gb version from a previous woot deal. The are two problems I have encountered with it: first of all, when you receive the item, take the earbuds and toss them into the closest sarlacc. Secondly, I have not yet figured out how to view a video file on the device even using the special downloaded software from sandisk. Any video I have uploaded hasn't performed properly.
My intention was never to use it as a video player as I have a larger screened Ipod for that purpose. When I received my sandisk player, I added to it an 8gb micro sd card and now have a very capable, portable, easy to see, and easy to use mp3/flac player that I can take anywhere I go.
One of my favorite things about this media player is that you can simply replace the micro sd card with another pre-loaded with music and have a completely new playlist in the very same player.
Happy wooting!

YEAY!!! I got my Woot monkeys today and all is well again.... I love it "Sky Rockets up to 50 feet"....lmao (maybe 5 feet for me)

oh as for the Sandisk I always buy them here... Some people might not like this, but I resell them usually making some bucks. I am though a Brain Cancer Patient and my meds are not cheap and my Cobra runs out next month...

The monkeys will be by my hospital side...

I would suggest picking up a decent micro SD card for the player. Since I listen to a lot of audio books, I needed the extra space. Other than that, I cannot complain about my Fuse.

I see you listen to audiobooks on yours. I recently just bought an audiobook off Itunes but realized the player isn't compatible with audiobooks like my ipod is so my husband couldn't add it to his player. Does the sansa allow you to add audiobooks from itunes? Thanks!!!

This is right, and its also very susceptible ton interference so it would not be an enjoyable experience.

It's also an issue of(perceived) commercial need. The target audience for mp3 players is younger 14-28 yo.This demographic matches FM listeners. AM radio listeners are usually older, 35yo+. Manufacturers won't start making AM mp3s until they perceive sufficient demand.

Do you know if it was the cards rather than the number of files? I know of one user who had problems after putting a huge number of low quality songs on his card. He was fine when he switched to high bitrate larger files and filled the card (16GB).

My 15 year old seems to go through MP3 players like they are disposable, and this is the best and longest lasting one she has gotten. At the price it can't be beat for someone who is rough on their electronics. Good timing as she was just complaining that she broke the last one and it wasn't working so well.

No. But if you love music and like to explore new artists, unfamiliar genres (Acid Jazz!) or revisit an old favorite album one more time, you've got to try something like Rhapsody to Go. For 50 cents a day I've got a jukebox with millions of songs to choose from that I can take anywhere. I've got an 8 GB Fuze (and bought the refurb on Woot 2 weeks ago for a backup) with two expansion cards so I can go weeks without repeating a song.

Got one of these from the last woot and am very pleased. My only gripe is the small storage capacity but that can be fixed with a card.

Love the sleek black color and the hard-to-scratch screen.

I also like the ability to carry around pictures of my ex to help build on my unrequited love and obsession while listening to music for sad men.

The player is VERY durable. I've sat on it, gotten it slightly wet, and worn it while working and exercising. I've gotten crud under the spin knob. I even dropped it once which caused it to come open and the thing still works like a champ and looks like new.

I will say I am not impressed with the ear buds. They're good, but not great. I recommend a pair of Sennheisers...in fact I believe it was another Woot that yielded not one but TWO pairs of Sennheiser ear buds for like 7 bucks, and they're spectacular.

Have used the shuffle two days straight now ( actually that is the only setting I will use.. ) Not sure yet.. yesteray I had repeats, not so much today. ( I think part of the problem is I have duplicates in my files..) will fiddle with the file over the weekend, to clean out any dupes.
