MrGromit wrote:Off topic, but does anyone have a link to what's already been sold with this woot-off?

I'm hoping for one of those Joby Gorillapod camera tripods that seem to come up every woot-off and I'm hoping I didn't miss it yet this time.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance

Does anybody know if Polk Audio Monitor 30s weigh more than 3 lbs each?

Also, I dunno how heavy my speakers are, but prolly more than 3 lbs. I'm assuming that 3 lbs is just a "guideline"...

I have a different standard for tippability: will these withstand (ha!) a direct blow from a large, plumed, wagging tail? (Assume for this that I don't go over the 3-lb speaker guideline)?

(Assume also that both the tail and the speaker stands are installed correctly, ie. speakers firmly attached to these stands, tail firmly attached to an exuberant Norwegian Elkhound...)

As long as you don't have kids, or pets, or a husband, you should be safe, though.

yeah i agree, but mine are going to be between the couch and wall so I should be fine...

Actually they weigh in at about 9 pounds . Great speakers, but I need to find some stands for them. Anyone have any suggestions?

According to the specs in that CNet review they're 9 pounds, and that looks like it's 9 pounds each, so that might be quite a stretch.

They are very stylish and functional for my Bose satellites, however the ability to hide the cables inside is limited. I use Monster wiring and they are simply too large to fit inside.

Mine seem to be able to withstand impacts from a 6-pound high-speed furry projectile pretty well, so you're probably safe.

Picked a pair up. My satellite speakers have been sitting on the floor or impromptu locations on the back of the couch long enough. I figure the ceiling mount is not going to happen at this stage (3 years into owning the system) so the stands are it.

I would assume that these would work perfectly with the small "cube" satellites they use in their crappy surround setups; those things can't weigh more than a pound-and-a-half each; the included double-sticky tape should hold the little plastic buggers on there just fine. In fact, I would guess that such micro-speakerlets are exactly what this product is aiming at in the market.

I doubt these will fit my KEF satellites, but for $10 shipped, I'm willing to give it a try. If I have to, I guess I can buy some double-sided velcro tape to keep them on the little platforms that come with these stands.

On ebay, there is someone selling 300W & 500W box speakers REAL cheap. Can't remember who, but do a search there. I think I paid $35 for the set of 500W indoor/outdoor speakers that work great.

Hmm.. I think that one might have a higher operational ceiling than mine, so I can't say for sure. But at altitudes below about 3 feet there doesn't seem to be any problem.
