This happens to me also, and I believe it is because I am using Safari on a Mac to place an order. I switch to Firefox and the order goes through fine. I am not sure how to tell woot about this.

And now, I had to log in an infinite amount of times to post this comment using Safari on the Mac. I had to switch to Firefox and re-write my comment! Grrr..

I bought these about 2-3 years or so ago when they were on here. Solid investment if you fear water leakage into a basement. I also put one near my fishtank in-case it started leaking. Beep is totally annoying and not something you ever want to hear but very helpful. I used them to discover a leak in my basement pipes.

I can't find a supporting link for this particular product, but based on several other similar products, when the water gets to a certain level (in this case 1/32 of an inch) it completes a circuit between the sensors, triggering the alarm.

As far as water + electricity, I wouldn't worry too much, seeing as how this only uses a few batteries and not AC power.

Just bought a house and this was one of the first things I wanted to pick up. Waited through a woot off and hoped for this more than a Bountiful October Cornucopia ... no dice. Finally they're here and there is just enough money in my penny jar to grab a couple!

Thanks woot for feeding into my paranoia!

Your boat's bilge typically has less than 1/32 of an inch of water? Is it moored in the Sahara?

The frog has two metal sensors on the bottom. Any amount of water completes the circuit and the frog begins to loudly chirp. You can test it by licking your finger (or getting it wet using any method you choose) and laying it across the bottom of the frog to manually complete the circuit. Kinky

So if you're leaking distilled water they won't detect it?

Did Woot discover some new corner of their warehouse where a shipment of leak frogs was stashed long ago? Or are we witnessing the leak frogs magnificent return?

Bad idea. He thought it was more fun to set off the leak frog than to .. Well, you know what I mean.

A warranty for a sub-$10 product isn't worth much. Buying a replacement is usually less hassle and cost than redeeming a warranty.

These are awesome. I took one out from under my kitchen sink when I changed the filters. Big mistake, as I had a leak a few months later. It's back under there and I'm ordering more for the bathrooms.

These are the real deal. Alerted me multiple times. Have them under sinks and near sump pump. Can't have too many.

I bought these during a woot-off & they finally paid off. My hot water heater blew at 11:00pm one night & the chirper was quite loud. I knew immediately I had a leak & it saved me a lot of time, money & aggravation. I'm in for three more sets. I was able to remove the batteries, let the leak frog dry out & it's ready for use again. I want one of these babies next to all my inside water sources now.

I picked one up from Woot in 2007. It has spent the last 3 years as a silent sentinel, daring my water heater to lose a single drop of water. The moment of truth came last month when the LeakFrog sounded the alarm. Sure enough, there was a thin film of moisture on the floor, almost too thin for me to fell by touch.

The new water heater is working fine now, but I know my LeakFrog will tell me when that changes.

Got a pair a few years ago, the one I gave to my parents saved them from a leak under the kitchen sink.
Awesome product, why they aren't as standard as smoke detectors is beyond me.
I'm in for 3(6), a few more around my home, and a few as gifts.

My washing machine leaked water all over the floor about a week ago. We might have been able to prevent some of it if we knew. Hopefully this will let us know if it happens again!

I've had my frogs go off a couple times. Definitely useful. In for 3.

Too bad I didn't have my room monitor with me the first time it went off. My children thought it was fun to clog the toilet and it was an inch deep before I came in and heard the frog. Thank goodness for the frog 'cuz they weren't going to tell me what they did.

The LeakFrogs are back!!!!

I've been waiting for these. We just moved into a home that has flooding issues in the past... Now I have FOUR LeakFrogs that will be merrily on their way here! YAY!!

P.S. For anyone that is on the fence - these things rock. They were a staple on woot! for a long time - much like Roombas - but then they just kind of disappeared for a while.

Also, does anyone know the name of the Stephen King short story (I think it was King) about the town that rained frogs once a year...?

I am slightly slapdash and I have USB and Nike+ addictions. =(|) woot monkeys rock. \m/(>.<)\m/

We had the 16 year old water heater valve buttafuocoure in March. What a mess--75% of the basement under water! I'm in for two sets hoping to never hear them beep, but happy in the knowledge that, given the call to action, they will!

Do you have an current coupon code for these?

bef wrote:Bought a total of 4 with free shipping (used old coupon).

I've bought several in the past and one helped prevent flooding in a bathroom when the toilet fill tube came loose inside the tank and started spraying water all over.

Cheap protection for $6.50 each.

I have one under each sink (5 so far), by each toilet (3), laundry room and water heater. I plan on putting one under a jacuzzi-like tub and one sink (didn't have enough leak-frogs). I considered putting one behind the refrigerator but I can't move it now that it is full of food.

I bought 2 extra as spares since batteries sometimes corrode really bad.

11/9/2010 - 4 Frogs for $26 (after $5 off coupon)
11/8/2008 - 3 Frogs for $26 @ Sellout.woot
7/30/2008 - 3 Frogs for $29
11/20/2007 - 4 Frogs for $35

So contrary to another post, I'm paying less for more frogs.

Two questions to leakfrog owners:

1) is the alarm the kind that you can actually locate where the sound is coming from? Some alarms are very directionless and if you've forgotten you have the leakfrog or if you have several of them, it might be hard to locate?

2) is there a low battery warning or do they eventually just suffer a silent death?

thanks

So... Upon first glance, I thought this was a morning alarm clock thing that ribbeted or something and also leaked water so that you couldn't (wouldn't) just lay there... I mean, if my nightstand or wherever I put my alarm was getting all wet, I'd probably jump up and clean up the mess. Then I'd be awake. I don't know. There's probably something wrong with me.

I LOVE my leakfrog! So does Mom. Saved both of us from flooded basements since I have a manual sump pump and Mom tends to misuse her disposal.
Seriously - you've never had water back up in your basement??
