My wife loves her's. I've used it to remove stubborn stickers off of stuff, remove the last bit of 1970's wallpaper from the kitchen wall (kinda clumsy with short hose but it worked great),loosened a rusty bolt, cleaned the toilet...don't tell my wife!. It is well made and heats up super fast. Get one...or three.

I think your steamer just sucks. I got one of these a while ago and haven't used an iron since.

I've had a few different steamers in life (ha!) with varying results. Some have been great, some mediocre. People say they *mostly* love this...and for $80, that gives me some reservations.

However, I know people in the wardrobe department on a TV show (oooo, Mr. Hollywood Big Shot) who use a Jiffy and adore it. Plus, it's off and on 10 times a day, so you know it can handle heavy duty loads:

http://www.amazon.com/Jiffy-Steamer-Residential-1300-Watt-Garment/dp/B0000665TD/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291140868&sr=8-1

So the question is: is $75 worth the risk of a *mostly* good steamer with no customer satisfaction return policy (cough, woot), or $137 for an amazing steamer with a decent satisfaction return policy (amazon). I'll take the latter...if I can save up enough cash. But first, I have to get the wrinkles out of this shirt for the job interview...

aztech wrote:does anybody know what "ground shipping" is? is it fedex? "snail mail" is USPS right? is there a breakdown of types of shipping somewhere?

Ground shipping means its shipped by..... drum roll please.... GROUND. l0l. In a truck. The carrier doesnt really matter.

In woots case it means fedex smartpost. Which basically means it sits in a warehouse, gets put on a pallet, shipped on a semi to somewhere in your general vicinity. Then fedex gives it to USPS and they deliver it, with your tracking number being worthless once USPS has it. Its very slow, and seems silly and prone to error. But its also very cheep and its woot, shipping is 5 bucks, and it gets it there.

The one thing I don't understand is how people are using this to steam clean e.g. the walls of a shower. I have one--love it, posted that already--but it doesn't create a billowing directed forceful stream of steam. It creates enough steam to get the wrinkles out of clothes. I would think this would be entirely useless for things like shower walls, were you'd really like the steam to be be coming out with some amount of force.

yonian wrote:Just use the old trick of hanging your garment in the bathroom while taking a really long hot shower.

Works best in a hotel/motel, otherwise you'll be paying for the extra steam yourself.

You don't have to take the long shower - just let it run (save the Earth - who, me?)

This item and I do not inhabit the same planet. I can hardly think of a less useful gizmo for me (unless you can use it to kill stinkbugs)

i bought a similar model from costco for $99. it wasn't worth it ... perhaps because it didn't work on the shirt i tried. i ended up wearing a wrinkly shirt to a wedding. i returned it. maybe my technique was wrong or the shirt fabric wasn't the right type. however, that scarred me.

My idea of ironing is spray the offending article of clothing with water and tossing it into the dryer. I decided to upgrade and just bought one of these.

Selling my ironing board and iron in my yard sale next month. A very liberating feeling.

I bought a Bosch steam dryer for this purpose... It is awesome (notice it isn't otterific anymore). I never have to iron anything, and it even freshens up my dry clean only clothes so I get extra wear out of them between trips to the cleaners.

I have one from a previous woot. It's fantastic for freshening upholstered furniture, drapes, etc. Also good for clothing between dry cleaning. It will definitely take out wrinkles, but if it's a badly wrinkled cotton shirt, the iron is quicker. The steam is very hot so you can use it for sanitizing surfaces, too.

I believe this particular Woot-Off is good to go for at least another 33 and 1/3 hours.

Well, the only thing that I can think of to convince you is that in the last week two of these have sold on eBay. One sold for 81 dollars and another for 90 dollars. Could be a quick way to make 60 dollars by selling all three.
