Does it blend as well as an iphone or ipod?

I know it's only $5... but 500mAh is worthless except for emergencies. It'll give you maybe 25% from a full charge.

I had a different 500mAh for my 3GS and hated it.

Without some type of assistance, wouldnt the two batteries level each others power out, vs the one just dumping into the other?

These types of things don't work like that. They do actually "force" the charge to your device and empty the "backup."

If it works don't knock it. I've had 3 of those iPhone batteries over at Monoprice.com die on me. They only seem to last for a few charges before dying.

The 3GS gets 300 hours of standby by default, so this adds an extra 1/3 charge (if that).

Can I have a quality post for this one?

Does this battery also work for the 3rd Gen iPod touch, or just the 2nd Gen?

I've also had a couple Monoprice ones and they were 3 or 4 times the capacity of these for about $10. Even if you only got a few charges out of them, they were the bomb. It's a shame they had to stop selling them.

I have one of these, and it's come in handy many times when I've forgotten to charge my iPhone before leaving the house. At best, I've gotten the phone to about a 75 percent charge, but more typically, it's between 30 and 50 percent. That's usually more than enough to last me till I get to a charger, though. Being able to charge the battery through USB is handy too, and the thing holds a charge for a long time. For the price, I'm tempted to buy another so that I have a backup for my backup.
