I have been considering purchasing this ladder for a while and still not sure. Today, QVC has a 19 ft LG laddle with wheel kit and work platform for $219 + 45 shipping= $264. Buying this one, plus adding a work platform ($44 total cost) and wheel package ($35 total cost), totals approx $254. So, maybe $10 difference. QVC also sell a folding, cargo holder for the ladder (to put items in while you're on the ladder) for a total cost of $35.

Yes, I also bought the 15 ft version from Woot! a while back.

1. It's a fantastic ladder and I love it long time.
2. It is heavy, Muy macho!

Enjoy!

this is not the little giant type 1 or type 1a don't be confused with ones you might own now or have owned in the past. this is an alta one. it is thinner walled aluminum, cheaper hardware, and of lower quality then you might have come to expect from a little giant ladder. it is still a fair ladder, but just not the "trust it with my life" ladder you may be used to.

Realistically ... no. No pully system like a typical extension ladder.

These ladders are AWESOME! I borrowed my dad's a while back to paint my stairwell. You can extend the legs on one end and shorten them on the other so you have a nice steady ladder, even on stairs.

I wish I could spare this kinda dough for a Christmas present because I'd really like to get one for my dad.

He lived on the second floor, about 15' up there was a square window that was open.

We got my trusty ladder, that works just like this one, extended it, and he was able to get all his stuff and moved out.

The GF was livid and accused me of helping him because no way he had the smarts to get a ladder, nor did he know anyone but me who had one.

Just adding to the list of many uses of this fine product.

Sidenote: I made him climb the ladder. After all it was his stuff (but really, I was not going to climb 15' on that thing, and trust he would hold it. Besides, the surface was unforgiving concrete, not lawn.)

Uh, let's see...

The door was locked, but there was an open window on the 2nd floor. And "no way" your friend had the smarts to get a ladder?

Is he a congressman?

Turns out the Alta One and the American Titan (offered on qvc.com) both are "type 1" ladders. See this page on the Little Giant ladder website: http://www.littlegiantladder.com/comparison-chart.html. I looked at the pictures on the qvc site (http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx?view=2&app=detail&params=item^V29974,RecTypeInd^IOFFER,navlist^V30008*V28214*V29974*,cp^detail,tmp^related,cpprod^H139293,cm_scid^dtlr&walk=&cmtags=) and googled for "American Titan."

So, both indicate 250 lbs limit, although the qvc presenter (a VP at LG) indicated that the ladder can hold more weight than that.

Well, a stable, loving family unit is generally accepted as a 'better' environment, yes. But many successful people have grown up with no partner to support them.

[quote postid="4275531" user="jyelle"]I have the 15' one, and it's really easy to work with. Mine reaches to about 12' so I'm not sure where they get the extra 3', but the 19' one will probably span 16' reliably.

The M-22 is a Model 22 which means it is a 22 foot ladder. If so it has a max extention of 18 feet. I am wondering why Woot calls it a 19 foot ladder and if this has anything to do with the refurb.

Decent reviews too.

Just a note on the word "similar."

Mia Tyler and Liv Tyler are similar.

They have similar facial features and hair.
They have the same parents.
They have both been models.
They are both considered attractive.

However when you see them together, you can tell they are not the same.

Is similar close enough? It's a personal choice, I suppose.

You might not need a partner to support it, but you'll probably want one to help you carry it. These things weigh a ton.

Not only that but that there are enough refurbished ladders to sell on woot. Ill take my chances with a digital camera but not a massive head injury due to a ladder failure.

One caveat I've not seen mentioned: Because these fine ladders are so adjustable, they are also loaded with pinch-points. If one were clumsy, inattentive, or just plain careless, this might not be the best ladder for them.

"Deathtraps? That is a bit irresponsible. It might be listed as refurbished due to being returned or many other reasons. Believe me, if they were damaged, they would be scrapped, not sold. These are awesome ladders; I have the same model and paid quite a bit more at a home show.

The only drawback, as mentioned, is they are a bit heavy but you'll learn to appreciate that the first time you use it. We have 18' ceilings in our family room, with the ladder fully extended you feel confident this will support you.

With the 18' ceiling in mind, the ladder paid for itself when we installed drapes on the upper windows. I was able to do it myself instead of hiring a contractor.

Another thought to consider: How many people are unscrupulous enough to, when they only need a ladder for one day, buy one then return it to the store for a refund?

I happened to be in line at the service desk of a major retailer and saw a family returning an inflatable bed a few days after Thanksgiving. They wanted a refund, but the store had a posted policy of only offering exchanges on inflatable beds. Seems that a significant number are returned right after any major holiday that involves visitors from out of town. After some vociferous objections, they finally took an exchange, but I'd be willing to bet the original bed was in perfectly serviceable condition.

I bought a Little Giant 22 footer about four years ago.It is the best ladder I have ever owned.Iam a little over 250,ya I know iam a fatty!!anyway even at my weight, when you are half way up the ladder,it does not bend,or move in any way.It is a very strong ladder, and you do not need anyone at the bottom holding this ladder, unless it makes you feel better.I think I paid over 300.00 for mind.My 22 footer weights 40lbs,not to bad for a very strong ladder.

Bandrik wrote:What could have POSSIBLY happened to these ladders that could have caused them to be refurbished?

Just a comment here on the condition of these ladders. There's a link in the footer of this post that describes why something might be called refurbished. Note this particular section:

Depending on the manufacturer, it could mean that it was a new, never before used product and is now listed as refurb because:

* It is an overstocked, discontinued or End of life (EOL) product. The manufacturer does not want to disturb the market pricing for new product and requires us to list it as refurbished when it is brand new
* There was a packaging change and the product was removed from the original retail pack and brown boxed
* The product was made for a specific customer and per a contract can't be sold in other channels as new or in a retail package, or by using the manufacturer or OEM name

We can't confirm the reason for calling it refurbished but can say that we believe you will be pleasantly surprised when you receive the ladder.

What does refurbished or recertified mean? Click here to find out.

Yes, blame Woot because your state forces them to charge sales tax. Anyway, there is a promo code to get $5 back (TAXESSUCK or something like that). At least that should get you over 1/2 the tax back.

HELP, need phone number to call woot!
Does anyone here have a phone number to call woot? I’ve ordered some leakfrogs on Nov 9th, of course woot charged my credit card immediately. Needless to say I’m still waiting for them for over a month now. I’ve written service@woot.com twice already, and each time DK was very apologetic but kept making excesses being the holiday delays and that should ship out soon. Apparently their service is going no where through the e-mail system or I would of gotten something by now. So I need another form of communication to woot. Thanks!

Just a little FYI about this ladder: the rungs are round-not like a regular ladder with flat steps. It's not real comfortable to stand on a round rung for very long. Plus, it's easier to slip off a round rung than a wider flat step.
