How bout a refurb granade?

My Little Giant ladder is incredibly stable and seriously heavy. Love it. Not sure about a refurb, though... I almost think I'd rather have a refurbished toothbrush.

"Heavy-wall aircraft-grade aluminum construction"

DEATHTRAP DEATHTRAP DEATHTRAP!

As an electrician, I can verify many people are killed using metal ladders, including a man I worked with years ago. He is included in these statistics:

Fiberglass, or the job doesn't get done. EVER.

Never wooting again. I've learned my lesson about inferior customer service and employees that illegally modify your signature (18 U.S.C. § 1029). Grow up, woot. (Edit of Mod edit: I am telling the truth about you modifying my signature to slander me. I am not attacking people. You dont qualify as "people" until you call me back and I hear a voice on the phone, then we can discuss how your employees are harassing me.) Still no response Since December 2010.

Does each ladder come with a collectible card depicting the injury sustained by the previous owner?

I owned a painting company for 5 years in college. These were the best ladders you could have on the job site for 90% of the work. After selling everything years ago I am in for one to use around the house.

I own one of the cheaper ones from Lowes and it's great, I paid a bit less for it than this ladder too.

Whether it is Pedro, Juan, or Manuel, they'd take one look and say "A refurbished ladder? Not even if you were paying me minimum wage."

Actually, I like refurbished stuff. I figure since it has gone back to the manufacturer, they probably gave it a better quality control inspection than one that just came off the assembly line.

I have to admit that word "refurbished" stuck out right away and I found myself not caring as much as I would normally have about this ladder. I mean, what happened that it had to come back so they could make it useable again and then dump 5000 of them or whatever, to Woot. In all fairness it very well may not have anything to do with its structural integrity but I still wonder how many came back and why to justify having them appear here as a woot.

I've used this ladder before, actually have a friends sitting in my garage now. I put up the Christmas lights with it this year and it was a breeze, my house has quite a few variable heights on the roof as well as some uneven terrain in the backyard, this ladder quickly and easily adjusts to each situation. I'm in for one, this is a good deal, cheapest I've seen it is around 216 at ACE Hardware typically it's more than that. There are also tons of accessories you can get, platforms, wallaways, and extensions for just one leg. Very cool device.

These are manufactured about 8 miles from me in Provo UT and, if i needed a ladder, or if this ladder were tall enough to get me onto my roof - which it aint - I'd have no qualms about buying one.

"Refurbished" here probably means they are demo units or customer returns or perhaps someone abused them or broke the plastic feet or whatever and Wing replaced whatever was damaged.

I never hear any complaints about the quality of their products. Or about what it's like to work there.

I bought a 15' version of this ladder a few wootoffs back, and it's really great. I've already done a bunch with it, and it always kept up to the expectations! It is HEAVY though. If you really don't need the higher reach - consider a shorter version (they do pop up on Woot every now and then), because hauling it up to the third floor in order to access your attic may be a challenge...

I scanned the manual that came with it using my neat scanner that I received a while ago in a bag of сrap, so here it is for you to take a peek... Sorry, I don't have a manuel....

I have the Werner version of this ladder and it is the best home related item I own. Hands down, worth every penny.

(I suspect Werner makes this ladder or even owns the Little Giant brand.

Also, regarding a refurb. Another way to look at it is that this ladder has been inspected with a fine tooth comb and any imperfections fixed. Probably more reliable than a new-off-the-line ladder that hasn't been inspected. That one may end up the next refurb!

This is "literally the bomb"? Why would the Woot people sell an exploding ladder??? I am so conflicted... it seems like a solid woot, but if it's "literally the bomb" then, well 179 seems steep for an explosive.

Yes, and it was damn heavy for the 15 inch! Felt like I was hauling a whole 15 foot ladder when I had to bring it up to the third floor in order to get into the attic the other day. Heck... Looking back - it was a 15' ladder indeed.. Original post corrected...

Refurb is just a word.

Be more nervous about a new ladder than a refurb, cause with a refurb, the issues have already been fixed.

Still scared, well your loss is someone elses gain.

By the way, when I bought mine - it wasn't shipped by Woot. It was shipped (quite promptly, only 2 days after placing an order) via FedEx ground from Salt Lake City, UT. Probably directly from the manufacturer?

Couple of the things I think I'd pass on as referbs... ladders and pacemakers. Contractors, take five mins before you start drinking in the afternoons and strap your ladders down on your trucks! Tired of dodging the jolly things in the freeway lanes!

Costco sales the 17' 1A (300lb) ladder for $199. I am so close to pulling the trigger on this woot. I have had the gold button staring at me 3 times already.

Why? Refurbed means that the factory checked it again for defects before certifying it for sale. Two physical inspections at two different times by [what is likely to be] two different inspectors is a good statistical bet.

I love refurbs. One of the only things I warn against buying refurbed is a hard drive. Non-electronic mechanically-uncomplicated things like this ladder is pretty easy to examine and fix by the factory.

Yeah, bought the last one on woot. I think it was a 15 footer. These things are built like a tank. Not even close to flimsy.

No way you could break it so it's likely returns being sold. Someone couldn't lift it so it got returned.

Returns can't be sold as new. It ain't legal. So it's essentially new with maybe a scratch or two.

Great deal if you need a ladder. But yeah... not for electrical work. Unless you have suicidal tendencies.

Wudooeyeno?

As I've read in one of the previous threads - Little Giant has a very generous return policy on their ladders. You can basically try it out (or if you're that kind of person "borrow" it for a small project) and return for any reason or no reason at all. Once returned - they can no longer sell it as new. So here comes Woot helping them out to move those practically new and barely used ladders, that were probably not ever defective in their life time at a reduced price of a refurb product!

It HAD a problem... Now fixed? what you can't sue because the Co. gets one free shot a making it right on the referb? "Oh, sorry you bought that ladder new, we didn't intend to injure you...let us fix it now"

Can I hold you to that? I have a tendency to do some form of cost benefit analysis before I buy anything. That being the main reason I don't buy anything out of a vending machine. It takes me 10-15 minutes to decide. I take into consideration the caloric value of the food, what I plan on consuming the rest of the day, whether or not I am eating with my woman that night, etc etc.. by the time its all said and done.. I figure its easier to save my dollar and get another cup of coffee.

I probably should by this ladder. I only own a 6 foot A-frame ladder, aluminum, 15 years old, rated at 200lbs.

I weigh 240 today.

sigh.

Be careful when doing comparison shopping on these ladders. There are several types : Type 1, Type 1A Classic, Type 1A Revolution XE, and Type 1AA. This ladder is type 1 which is the lowest end of the line. The other types are stronger and possibly made of more expensive material to make them lighter. I would suspect the reason that these ladders are refurbished is that they are the weakest of the models which makes them more vulnerable to misuse and damage (e.g., a fat American climbing a ladder not made to support his/her weight).
