I wouldn't be worried about a refurb, they are quality to begin with and probably better QC refurbed

I wouldn't touch the Werner version of a LG with a 10 foot pole. You get what you pay for.

Does anyone here have a phone number to call woot? I’ve ordered some leakfrogs on Nov 9th, of course woot charged my credit card immediately. Needless to say I’m still waiting for them for over a month now. I’ve written service@woot.com twice already, and each time DK was very apologetic but kept making excesses being the holiday delays and that should ship out soon. Apparently their service is going no where through the e-mail system or I would of gotten something by now. So I need another form of communication to woot. Thanks!

Woot.com is woot.com, email is the only option. I had a problem last year, and tried everything. I even found a phone number, a human answered told me that there was absolutely nothing they could do to help me. It took 2 1/2 months and my issue was finally resolved. I even called my local states attorney general, but since they are not in my state and I received the broken product they told me I had to wait to see how it played out before they could do anything. I've gotten so many things successfully through woot that it was a surprise and a reminder. Woot things are cheap for a reason, no customer service. IF woot is not the cheapest option, get it somewhere else. Amazon has excellent customer service, buy.com has OK customer service. Customer service costs money, so you pay at the front or at the back.
Back to that old saw Caveat emptor. Good luck.

I have received 2 bad items from Woot. One was a broken mini-tripod. I sent one email to Woot, and they shipped a replacement free of charge. The second item was some wine that got cooked during a heat wave. Again, I sent an email, and they refunded my account.

Pretty good customer service if you ask me.

scout616 wrote:Just a little FYI about this ladder: the rungs are round-not like a regular ladder with flat steps. It's not real comfortable to stand on a round rung for very long. Plus, it's easier to slip off a round rung than a wider flat step.

Actually, if you look at the close up pic (near the end of the set) you will see that the rungs are flat and trapezoidal - so that they are flat for both the A-frame and for the extension ladder mode. I have a similar model and although they are more comfortable for the shorter A-frame, where you have 2 steps to support your foot, they are much better than the old round rungs.

Warning, however, the rubber feet are not as skid-proof as you might think. Please check carefully before climbing in extension mode or, better yet, have someone stand at the bottom or tie it in to make sure that it does not slip out from under you.

I have a similar knockoff made by somebody else and it has been very handy so far. The locking system is probably similar and it sits outside beside my house in the backyard getting rusty in the locks. When I need to use it if everything's tight I just spray em all down good with WD-40 and everything works like new again and locks like it's supposed to.
Just make sure the locks/latches are tight and locked and your good to go. No matter who makes it they are WAY heavier then a normal extension ladder but you can do so much more with them it's worth the extra weight sometimes, plus I can fold it up into a box basically and it will fit in most normal sized trunks.

Nate650 wrote:Wondering if this is long enough to reach the roof of a two-story house.

Nope, the math doesn't work for a typical house. You can get high enough to clean the gutters but it won't reach the roof line.

22' = 11' per story X 2
1' (foundation)
3' (safety)
---------------
26' total

If the house is built on a slab you can subtract the foundation. The ladder has to extend past the roof line for safety otherwise it's too dangerous to climb on and off the roof. You can finagle the numbers a bit, but you probably need a 26' ladder.

I bought my mom, who's in her 50's, one of these ladders for christmas last year - she absolutely loves it, in fact everybody does. She uses it regularly for decorating around the holidays as well as painting and hanging high pictures. Friends and family call her constantly to borrow it - in fact my my one aunt asked to borrow it immediately after i gave it to her, before she'd even had a chance to use it! (My mother said no, that's how much she knew she'd love it!)

Had one for ten years. Very solid ladder. It will last forever. Once it's in place I very much doubt it's going to buckle or break in any way. Problems: It is very heavy and because I only use it once or twice a year, it's hard to remember exactly how to lock the red knobs at the top correctly. It's also difficult to fully extend.

I got mine 2 weeks at Home Depot it is the Werner brand but works just as good. I bought the 22' version which is actually an 18' ladder for 159. Basically the same ladder Sam's Club has this brand for 199 so this is a good deal for the brand which cost a little more than the Werner brand.

I have had a Little Giant since 1980. The birth date is stamped on the ladder. This price is about half of what I paid 30 years ago. At the time I purchased 20 of these ladders for my crews. All of them are still in service. This is the one ladder no one can break. A Louieville Ladder has a two year life.

woot15doug wrote:[quote postid="4275531" user="jyelle"]I have the 15' one, and it's really easy to work with. Mine reaches to about 12' so I'm not sure where they get the extra 3', but the 19' one will probably span 16' reliably.

The M-22 is a Model 22 which means it is a 22 foot ladder. If so it has a max extention of 18 feet. I am wondering why Woot calls it a 19 foot ladder and if this has anything to do with the refurb.

It is a 22 for because an average 6ft man standing on the highest legitimate rung can reach 22' safely. Its in the specs.

I want to add I made the same purchase a year ago and this ladder has very little standing-still time. I use it for all kinds of applications I hadn't anticipated and I'm very pleased with its stability, versatility, and convenience. It weighs more than a simpler ladder, but it brings much more to each use.

I just picked up a Werner brand multi-ladder at Lowe's (in-store) - on sale for $69. Rated at 300lbs. and same multi position concept.

Also, Home Depot has an online special on their 17' Werner Multi-Ladder - $119. Tax and shipping might get you close to today's woot!, but at least it's not refurb!

So if you're not needing a full 19', you've got options....

I've been using Werner MT-17 for about 3 years. I've used alongside my brother's Little Giant M-17 to support scaffolding. There really isn't a lot of difference for the end user. They're both very stable and work the same way.

The Werner is a bit heavier and LG has a cleaner finish. LG welds their rungs whereas Werner uses rivets. All things being equal, which they aren't in this case, a weld is stronger than a rivet. LG has to use more expensive heat-treated aluminum to get a proper weld. Werner corrects for the loss of strength inherent with riveting by using thicker aluminum on the riveted surfaces. That's why Werner ladders are heavier and LG's are more expensive.
