What are the chances of the TSA allowing this to be a carry-on for airplane rides?

Inflatable beds are just another reason for you friends to crash at your place after a party. I steer away from that.

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

on Oct. 1, 2010, it was announced that Coleman (a division of Jarden) had purchased Aerobed. This will probably be one of the last products on Woot! from the pre-coleman era...

Press Release

The twin would fit in the SUV. Anyone know if this has a boston valve?

This is a quality woot.
Great for travel, cheap. Nice job Woot, you found us a deal!

Now, may I ask why every time I say Bundle of Coats you change it to bundle of oats? It's annoying. KNOCK IT OFF TURD.

Thanks.

It's not TSA you have to worry about. Individual airlines set the standards for carry-on sizes. It looks a little big for most of the major airlines.

A helpful tip when using these air beds (any, actually)...put a blanket down before you put the sheets on it, or a nice thick mattress pad. You will feel the cold through the sheets if you don't!

These are sweet. I've got a twin size, with the internal electric pump at the foot of the bed. Great when traveling, and better than a lot of "real" mattresses I've slept on. However, if someone places a pea under one, you will NOT feel it. Sorry.

I wonder if the weight of this thing is under 50 lbs so it can get loaded on plane without paying an extra fee? I have a Queen size and it weights about 15 lbs...so its probably ok.

Holds up to 750 lbs????????? When I am tipping the scaled at 700+ the last thing I am going to be sleeping on is an air mattress!!

This does not have a boston valve. It has a self sealing flapper valve, unique to Aero products. The pump which is included fits into the opening tightly and when the pump is removed, the valve seals itself. The screw on cap is a secondary seal.

Mst be the carrier that brings this up into this price range eh?

I haven't ever paid this much for single layered air beds.

maybe they cost more in other parts of teh country eh?

I guess this is a good price for these, but I swore off aerobeds after 2 of my raised aerobeds (1 purchased from woot long ago) developed humps in them within a year or so due to some internal seam separating. Appears to be a common problem at least on the raised type, so I don't have any faith in the aerobed name.

I already have a pump for other things. I guess I'll also have to get a DC inverter for the second motor.

"AeroBed Family Travel Pack"?

For a family of 2 perhaps. Any time I tried sharing a queen inflatable with my ex I wound up on the ground. Better to invest in good sleeping bags.

I suppose a single parent could take the twin and let the kids fight it out on the queen... but then no one sleeps.

You can't be sure of that. It's a long strange road between you and those 700 pounds. The world could look a lot different when you get there, and an air bed just might be the bed of Kings in those future days of girth and mirth.

Better beat the rush and get 2 now. You can thank me later.

My wife and I used aero beds for 4 years, they would last about a year break and we would get a new one.(you can not fix them) Best sleeping surface ever. We would still be sleeping on one but a local mattress company had a generic version of the sleep number bed for $350 for a queen. Love air. And no bed bugs. Hear that bed bugs cant live on the plastic surface, they need mattress or foam. Good night all.

Iowa, come for the corn, stay for the dead zone creating nitrogen runoff.
The generic avatar kind of looks like me already. Except my knife is bigger, well not longer but thicker. A lot thicker really.

Well.... maybe I better think that over some more....

Bed bugs can live in carpeting and almost always climb the covers to their dinner nightly. Plastic won't stop them.

How did you deal with the loud and obnoxious sounds that come from the bed when you shift positions at night?

The timing of this is impeccable! My Coleman has developed a leak and when I'm camping with my cub scouts, this is totally unacceptable!

Thanks for the great deal Woot! In for one!!

Definitely under 50 lbs. with everything. I'm surprised your queen-size inflatable weighs 15 pounds. I have a twin-size Aerobed brand inflatable just like the one in the pic, and it's surprisingly light. Probably under 5 pounds.

We have a couple of similar ones and one thing to remember is to put a blanket on top of the mattress if it is cold at night and you use it while camping. The air inside the mattress will freeze your body all night long.

I'd like to echo the comments about these beds breaking. A lot. They're not bad for occasional use, but it's my experience that they tend to break after about 30 nights of sleeping - either they spring a leak, or their cell rupture and they become uneven, or their motors break.

For what it's worth, they are pretty comfortable while they're working.

straight to the detail

Hmmm, tempting. I got a twin size Aerobed with a battery-powered pump from Woot ($30 delivered) as a kid's travel bed. This is tempting to have in case of numerous simultaneous out-of-town vistors. I think I'll run this by SWMBO.

We already have a proper guest room, but we also have a trundle bed that converts our sectional into a queen bed (that's pretty uncomfortable) and a sofa in the office that folds flat like a futon in the office, which conveniently feels like it has a bar right down the middle due to the 2 separate cushions. I'm hoping the queen will make the sectional a sleep-able sleeper again, and the twin will make the futon-style sofa much more tolerable on the occasions we do have more than 2 guests, or whenever said guests aren't down with sleeping in the same queen bed together! Also, these will be nice to take to the lake house where the beds suck and the offspring wind up sleeping on a pallet on the floor made of comforters and pillow-toppers.

You're wrong, you can fix them when they spring leaks, but not with the cheap rubber-cement patches they come with. You have to use a good quality vulcanizing patch made for inner tubes. The kind that has an orange border. This kind:

http://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-VP-1-Vulcanizing-Patch/dp/B000JF2ZB8/ref=pd_sim_dbs_auto_5

It's harder on the fuzzy side of the mattress, because you first have to sand it down to expose the rubber. Patching leaks in seams requires a different technique. Just cover the hole with a blob of epoxy.
