You can't just use any USB charger with the 3GS -- the power specs are different from previous models. In other words, 3G chargers don't work with 3GS because they aren't up to spec, not due to any firewire history. However, since this one claims 3GS compatibility, it's probably fine. 3GS chargers work fine with 3G iPhones.

Apple doesnt want you to use anything other than their own products obviously. Not true at all.

Happy about this one- I'm always running upstairs to put my ipod on the charger. Now I can indulge my Angry Birds addiction and stay charged in the car and at home!

You can never have too many iPhone chargers. I have one at work and one on my laptop at home. Now (since I bought 2 in this 2fer), I can have one in my car, one in my wife's car, one on the night stand and one that stays in my suitcase for when I travel.

At the price, it is certainly worth it....no more searching for a charger! (And I can now charge my iPod at the same time!)

Ok, Woot. You got me. You suckered me into buying this set. My brother got an iPod Touch (w/ FaceTime) for Christmas and I broke my old iPod Classis 80GB, and just bought a new Classic 160. What does that mean? I'm scouring for a reasonably priced charger set for our iPods!

I'm so glad I just "peeked" at the site this morning before I started work! Now, me and my brother will have GENUINE chargers to use at home AND on the go AND saved a ton of $$ on a genuine brand charger! Who cares if it isn't "The Apple" Brand! DLO / Phillips is still a good brand to me! A+, Woot!!

Does anyone know if the charger will work with other usb devices given I have another cable?

For what it's worth, I bought a similar DLO bundle for my Zune about a year ago, and the car charger crapped out within about 2 months. The wall charger and cable are still okay, but the car charger was the real reason I bought it, so was pretty disappointed. The build quality is pretty weak. Thin plastic and parts that rattle around inside. Hopefully Philips has improved the quality since I made my purchase.

Only a 1A output. Apple charger is 2A. It will take twice the time to charge your stuff.

In for a 2-pack. Hubby bought this set for $20 elsewhere, and we use them a lot. We have two 3rd gen iPod touch units and one iPad.

Whether we should or not, we have used this set for charging our iPad overnight, so I can't say how long it takes. Just that it worked.

We have used the cables for syncing but it's slow.

We also experienced the crappy cable construction that another commenter experienced (the plastic cradle came off and exposed the plug). We used electrical tape to repair, and the repairs have held.

The cord is about the same length as the one that came with your iPod/iPad.

I'm mostly interested in the adapters; if I don't throw the cords away automatically, they're at best a backup source. I use the white cord that came with the units and plug it into the adapter.

Got my daughter a 4th gen Touch for Christmas, and really need a charger! The pic of the cable looks just like her Apple brand one that came with the Touch, and this is a fantastic price for a charger that delivers 1Amp - so I am in for a set! Even if it happens to not work for her Touch(I think it will), there are plenty of other things I can charge! (Too bad there's no usb port on me!)

Here's what I've found out regarding the iDevices' power requirements since iPhone 3GS:

Apple removed Firewire charging capabilities on the 3GS, 4, and iPod Touch 3+ gen. That was the 12 volt charging. Now it is just USB, just 5 volt charging. If it says it is 5 volt, it should work. If you have an older cable/stereo/car hookup that runs at 12 volt, try something like this:

A little pricey, but sometimes it is worth preventing your stuff from being useless, eh?

I think, since it's a 2-fer, your getting 2 packages, and each package has one of the above...

I'm in for 3. I am replacing a 4th gen iPod from 2005 (that uses the old charge cables) with a new iPod Touch, and so I need to replenish my supply of cables at home, work, in the laptop bag, etc.

Edit - I have a 3rd gen iPod Touch, 32GB.

Can you charge and listen to headphones/connect to speakers at same time on an ipod nano (5th generation)? With my current offbrand charger I cannot, so if I forget to charge, I have to wait until I can listen again. I'd like to get one that I can do both.

The ones apple makes are complete crap. I went through 3 charge cables in a year because they fray so easily.
First they won't let me sync, then after a while they stop charging the phone. Maybe these will be a lot better. I'm very dissapointed with apple's craftmanship on their fricken cables.

I own one of these sets already, and the cable syncs with my computer just fine. The cable also seems to hold up better than the ones from Apple as well. The ones I get from Apple always seem to fall apart after a few months.

I also would want to know if it definitely works with the 4th gen iTouch. I have an older car charger that I used with my 1st gen iTouch, and it will not charge the 4th gen one.

No guarantees but it should work like an old iPod charge. The specs show it is a sync cable so syncing should work.
But with 1 amp output charging, I believe, will only work when the iPad is sleeping.

1 amp is great for a USB charger. These will work great on other smartphones too (Android, etc) if you get Micro USB cables for each one.

I'm in for 3 2-packs. Never going to have to hunt for my Droid charger again!

When I worked for Best Buy (approx 5 years ago), TVs were one of the things we got the best discount on because of the giant markup. They're making a lot more than peanuts there...

(For reference, Best Buy's employee price is (what the store paid+5%) so some employee prices were AMAZING like for TVs, car stereos, ethernet cables...some were complete crap, like for apple products, hard drives, and cell phones)

I think the answer is: it will not work nearly as well nor as fast as the official Apple charger, nor the aftermarket ones that output the proper 2.1 amps.

However, if you have 15 hours to kill, and don't want to use the iPad during that time, it will eventually charge the thing.

How do I know? I have an ipad, and a wide selection of chargers. I would not buy these for an iPad, but in a pinch, if you have no other choice, it can work (very slowly).

When I worked in retail in college (5 years ago as well, though not at BB) our store did NOT grant employee discounts on electronics, chiefly because taking 10% off a TV would give us the TV, at times, below cost, and the store lost money.
