I bought one about a year ago from Woot, and it got a serious slump in the middle within six months. (Yo... I sleep alone) It's apparently some low quality foam. I hear strong support from family and friends who have 'more expensive' foam beds that they rock. They spent $850 - $1500. This one, while comfortable for a few months, was sent away to the recyclers. It's cheap for a reason.

The ones on the web say 20 years. I've had my off brand tempurpedic 8 years, and I'm a quadriplegic, which means I'm in bed more than normal people.
This mattress still holds form after 30 minutes out of bed it looks brand new.
I recommend a moisture repellant cover to keep your body oils and accidental spilling of liquid on your bed.
The water will go straight to the middle of the bed.
Of course I paid $1000 for my bed

Echoing some of the other comments. It's not a Tempur-Pedic for sure. You're getting what you pay for here.

Is it worth $200? I think so, yeah. But the memory foam is not particularly durable and it will lose its resiliency in a year or two. The foam just isn't as dense as the higher-quality products and it breaks down with time and body weight.

Considering that the quality memory foam mattresses can run up to and over two grand, it's not a bad deal here--you're just going to have to replace this mattress far more frequently.

How does this hold up with large sleepers - say 250+ pounds? Also if you have a very large sleeper and a smallish sleeper do you end up with that horrible water-bed effect where the smaller sleeper basically falls into the trough made by the larger sleeper?

We will see the people who got it in the October woot praising it and they people from the year+ ago woot complaining.

Just rolled onto the (mostly) unused side of the bed and its sooo good. Remember why I loved this thing. Might as well be sleeping on styrafoam in the slump (slightly exaggerating).

Normally I listen when people say you get what you pay for. I should have heeded it this time.

Seriously - it's a cheap bed that fails in a very short period of time. I did indeed send my to the recycler when I bought a traditional mattress again. I'm 275... I just made a very large cavity that I... and my new girlfriend ... rolled into.

Bought the one offered on 7/18/2009 for the same price, it didn't have the vent system though. My wife and I formed low spots in it by about the 6 month mark... and we aren't heavy folks, fairly malnourished. There is a noticeable hump in the middle of the mattress where it is still very comfortable. I have even separated the "memory foam" from the foam base and flipped and rotated the base thinking the foam base was failing but it didn't help and seemed like it was more the "memory foam" failing. I finally took the "memory foam" portion off and bought a new "memory foam" mattress topper from Target for an arm and a leg and put that on the foam base and zipped it as one, it seemed to be better initially, but it too is a back killer now days. Don't get me wrong, this mattress was awesome for the first 6 months or so. We are still using it, it's bearable, though I hear a lot of gripping from the female counterpart... shutup baby, just sleep on the hump. Now I'm just saving up for a foamsweetfoam (google it nerd).

Sooo, the one I got on 7/18/2009 sucks now... it was good but died. The one offered today is a different design and may not be the same brand, so it could be wonderful. Buy for a guest room or something, they don't need to be comfortable anyway if it winds up suckin'.

It has an odor that is just from being stuffed in a plastic wrap for who knows how long... It doesn't smell GREAT, but it's not necessarily what I'd call "toxic"... How about this: unpack it first thing when you wake up in the morning, and let it unfold and lay out ALL day with the window open... if you, like me, should happen to go to bed around 3am, then it should be safe to throw the sheets on and then go nitey-nite!

No, I'm just teasin'... it's really not that bad!

I am going to have to echo the common sentiment. My GF bought one from woot a bit ago. It lasted about 6 months before it began to form divets. She is about 110 and I am around 175lb. I just bought her a new box spring. I want to keep her in bed as long as possible.

I bought one of these in twin size 5 months ago from woot and I have to say, its a really great sleep. Kind of like that movie.. an English Gentleman.. a really great sleep.

I would mention though that the size really does vary, mine was almost 2" wider than it was supposed to be, and it took a couple weeks to stop smelling like synthetics (thats what she said)... But I dont wake up with back aches it doesnt over heat. They don't well either from sleeping in the same spot..

Really nice sleep...

OK, having used these since the day they first hit the market I have a few tips and comments:

-- This is a steal. Quality foam mattresses cost some serious coin, so if I didn't have three of these already, I'd snap this up.

-- I guarantee that once you use one of these you will not go back to old style mattresses.

-- This foam mattress can salvage your bed that might otherwise have to be replaced.

-- I would recommend you also go to a good bedding store and buy a couple memory foam pillows. Same thing with those. Once you use a quality foam pillow you won't use anything else.

With old style pillows once in awhile I used to have a sore neck when getting up in the morning.

Since using a memory foam pillow I have not had a sore neck. And that's after about 8 years of using them.

Here's what I am talking about:

http://www.sleeptrain.com/tempurpedic-pillows.aspx

-- Get a quality bed bug cover for the box spring, a separate one for this mattress, and also for the pillows. Bed bug covers are expensive ($120 for each, $40 for the two pillows) but they are worth it.

Keep in mind I am talking about bed bug covers, not the cover that comes with this mattress.

http://www.bedbugcover.com/sofcoversuperiormattressandboxspringensemble.aspx

-- If you let your dog(s) sleep on the bed and the dog has a pee accident from time to time, buy some "pee pads" from the Walgreen's "incontinence section." (Yes, Walgreen's has that section in the store.)

Put a couple pads under the bottom sheet where the dog sleeps.

The reason for this is because if the dog pees on this foam, you will never get the smell or stain out. (Albeit, Icky Poo does a good job if you spray it on the stain immediately).

-- Most of these mattresses turn yellow as they age. Get used to that. This is simply memory foam's way of oxidizing. (Like a penny gets darker with age.)

The mattress is still good, but the discoloration might throw you off. Put a bed bug cover over it and you won't have to deal with the change in color.

-- A great feature of this mattress is the ventilation system. These mattresses can get uncomfortable on hot days or if you tend to have cold sweats once in awhile.

The way I deal with such nights is I have a quality humidifier blowing on me and simply sleep with a light sheet over me.

Heat generation is an issue with these mattresses so if you pass on this Woot, make sure to get one with some type of ventilation feature. The more expensive foam mattresses will have it.

Well that's it. Again, you won't regret this purchase and the biggest problem is that if you have more than one bed in the house, be prepared for everyone pestering you to buy them a foam mattress too. And unless this Woot comes up again, it's going to cost you $700 to $1000 for each additional mattress.

Of course, this Woot may be beneath some people, but I assume anyone on Woot is not the type of person to shop at this store:

I have tried several-a-mattress of this type, including the top of the line inspired by NASA model.

The thing I find most unappealing is the heat, I for whatever reason, get hot when I sleep on these kinds of mattresses.

My second issue is I constantly toss and turn during the night. Foam mattresses tend to conform to your body. This sounds nice but when you toss and turn during your sleep it’s not fun.

In my experience it takes about 5 seconds for a foam mattress to form to your body. That means when you roll over you are in the most unnatural and uncomfortable position imaginable.

For heavy and cold sleepers the bed is for you. For light and warm sleepers stay away!

This really is a ripoff of what a Tempurpedic is. I would go to HHGregg and just get the real thing (expensive but worth it) and use the money you save from this toward an appliance or big screen TV.

+1 for buying this mattress if you're in the market for one.

I bought this to replace a spring mattress that needed replacing long before I decided to take the plunge on this. It needs a few days to air and fluff out, but after that you have a great mattress for the price. I've owned it for about a year and I've not woken up with any back pains since, and during those hot summer days, I put another bed cover on between myself and the bed to keep from overheating.

Although you do tend to gravitate toward the center if you and your significant other decide to sleep close together, I would definitely buy this bed again in a heartbeat.

We too bought this about 6 months ago and have double "Canoes" as my husband calls them. By morning it's downright difficult to get out of bed because you are "stuck" in your canoe! I liken it to sleeping on the beach without the sun or sand (or smell of coconut oil) but if you want to change position you'll need a shovel to dig your way out! It was fun to unwrap it when it arrived, grew to almost 3 times it's size!

You should be able to, if you have sides to the space you are putting it in it will just mold to your space but if a saide or tow will hang over something then you'll need to trim it. It comes in a case (of sorts) like a giant pillow case that you could cut a slit in (the underside) then trim the foam with a razor knife, then sew up the slit.

I bought one about 9 months ago from Woot. I'm not sure if this is the same one or not. The one I got came wrapped tightly like a big tootsie roll. Once you take it out of the packaging it regains its form in a few hours (though the booklet suggested you wait overnight). I didn't have any issues with strange gas odors and it wasn't some glorified egg crate. If I recall correctly it was about 8-9" thick.

If you're not picky about your mattress, then sure, this is an upgrade. If you're like me and prefer firm mattresses or have back issues then it's probably better to try before buying. My roomies tried it out and thought it was a great deal and very comfortable. I did too...for about 3 nights, before I realized it just had a little too much give for me. Unfortunately once it's been unrolled you can't re-roll it. It's still on my bed...between the boxspring and my original mattress. A wash for me...

Was pretty quick last time, comes in a giant roll that when you un-wrap it, it seems to inflate to 3 times it's size.

I bought one of these when it was last offered on Woot on 9/27/10 and it just now started forming a crater on my side of the mattress. It's still very comfortable though. I'm 6'0", 175 lbs.

In spite of the crater, I definitely don't regret my purchase. In fact, I just now recommended my friend and his pregnant wife get this. For $300, the price can't be beat. Sure you could get a better one for $2k or whatever that would last 5x longer, but what's the point? I'd rather have a fresh, new, and amazingly comfy one of these every 4-6 months for a few hundred bucks than pay for one that last longer but costs disproportionately more.

I bought a Tempurpedic a while ago. I had it indoors for 72 hours and had to return it. The thing managed to stink everything up for two weeks afterwards. I live in the city; where the heck am I supposed to put a mattress out for three days? Guard it at the curb while looking like a crazy hobo?

Ignore the part of the product description that says the mattress can be used with any boxspring. If you use this type on a box from an older set that needed to be flipped you'll ruin the new mattress.

$300 is a lot of money for a bed that's already cratered after 5 months. For $2K you can get a top of the line airbed. Mine is by American National, not the 'Sleep Number' people. There's a 1" foam topper in it that might need replacing every 5 years or so, but it should last 20 years or more and can never develop craters. Unless you want them.

Asceticism is for those that can't afford Hedonism.
