So are we essentially getting 4 flashlights? (2 boxes of 2) or just 2 total (1 box of 2)

Thinking about getting a couple to use as cheap bright bike lights. Any suggestions for mounting to handlebars?

Some info about LED lights:

"LEDs used as a replacement for incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lamps are known as solid-state lighting (SSL) - packaged as a cluster of white LEDs grouped together to form a light source. LEDs are moderately efficient; the average commercial SSL currently outputs 32 lumens per watt (lm/W), and new technologies promise to deliver up to 80 lm/W. The long lifetime of LEDs make SSL very attractive. They are also more mechanically robust than incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent tubes. Currently, solid state lighting is becoming more available for household use but is relatively expensive, although costs are decreasing. LED flashlights, however, already have become widely available."

Sorry. That was a Sirius GPP story. True, but Sirius GPP nonetheless. And if you were wondering, Sirius GPP is a synonym for whack or weak.

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

Serengeti High Intensity Tactical... I'm not sure I appreciate the acronym.

I have bought several of the Cree based flashlights for around the same amount though this deal is right up there as one of the best. What I have found though is that it seems that all these flashlights are made in China and they simply don't have the quality control standards that we are used to. As a result they start to turn off for no apparent reason. Most of the time if you hit the switch twice it will stabilize and stay on, at least for awhile. They all seem to have the same button arrangement in the back. For the price it is probably worth buying a couple and throwing them in the car but my bet is they won't feel nearly as solid as say frinstance a Mag light.

It's not online. You have to actually walk in and buy it in a brick and mortar store.

I was going to ask the same thing. Two for Tuesday and Two flashlights per package would be four total. Is this right?

What's the problem officer??

James, bike lights that are made to attach to your bike are inexpensive and easy to find. Here is a whole category devoted to them on PerformanceBike, just one of the sites where you can get good deals on bike gear.

Go to any home improvement store and buy some cheap brackets that will fit over your bike handles.

The way I read it, you just get two lights.

Product Description reads as follows:
1 Serengeti FL708 160 Lumen CREE XRE LED Flashlight – 2 pack

So...you get (1) X (2 pack)

I own these, purchased from Sam's Club. They work great. I used them in Iraq with no problems of any kind. The light does fade as the batteries age.

You have to cycle thru the settings UNLESS you hold the endcap button down until it jumps to the bright setting about 2-3 seconds. THEN when you release it will not go to the annoying flash mode but straight off.

Sam's sells a very similar set now which uses 6 AAA batteries EACH. They are brighter too.

Sometimes I'm not so sure...I have had more success with a much lower intensity light. It seems like the brighter ones like this are a li'l overkill for night caching, at least for nanos and tight quarters with lots of nooks and cranberries.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Yeah, that discription is what made me think you got four total. The product is a two pack, and it is two for tuesday, so two products would be...

...but you are probably right. That would make it too good of a deal.

I've got to get this flashlight because it has the flesh ripping crown. That's an extremely critical feature. Far too many times I have temporarily blinded an assailant with a super bright flashlight but then failed to cause sufficient damage with my multiple strikes to his head and face because of a smooth edge on my flashlight.

Heh. No shipping... but it'll cost you $50 a year, each and every year (or more as membership fee's go up occasionally), just for the privilege of being able to give them your money.

No thanks.

Unless you have a Brady Bunch sized family and buy bulk all the time, you'll be lucky to see any savings above and beyond that 50 buck privilege fee.

My feeling is, as it is with all retailers I freely choose to patronize, they are the ones who should be feeling privileged to receive my hard earned money. Not the other way around.

Call me old fashioned.

Personally I think Performace Bike is the last place you want to look for lights. I don't doubt the quality is there but the average person doesn't need a $60.00 - $100.00 for a bike light! (and you can spend more if you want!) There are a ton of web sites that offer alot more for alot less! Check out www.goldengadets.com If you can't find a decent quality three watt bike lite there then you should not own a bike!

Does anyone know if the med level is achieved by PWM (pulse width modulation)?

PWM is basically a very fast strobe effect and can be noticeable and objectionable. If you wave your hand in front of the beam you can tell, or watch falling rain or snow.

If the frequency is high enough, PWM isn't bad, but I dislike lower frequency PWM dimming.

I too want to know if these CAN be mounted to a shotgun using some kind of mounting ring. I don't need it very often (hopefully never). But would love to have the option if the need ever came up.

Anyone know the diameter of the bezel part of the light?
